P.s. yeah I probably blocked the progression of this thread xD But if you haven't read such series, you can always look up some little fandoms on the internet and write them down. Who knows, you may even accidentally become a fan

01. Confidential Confessions/Confidential Confessions DEAI- was a favorite for me back in high school (basically a modern day 'afterschool special'). Nice to have a series that wasn't all about magic powers or Mary Sue teenagers, especially for a manga. Of course, there were a lot of stereotypes and common myth-conventions when it came to the issues tackled, but still it didn't pull punches. 

 

02. Wish- It was a cheesy, 'feel-good' story (mostly focused on humor, very little violence) but hey those cheesy feel-good stories got me through high school (the prime of my manga reading days, when it was cool for the less popular kids to be into anime and manga). It was also my first manga series. Basically take common Judeo-Christian tropes (heaven/hell, angels and demons), dunk it with sugar and molasses and top it off with frosting and extra sugar dusting on top.

 

03. Magic Knight Rayearth- It was very popular in Japan, here there's a cult following but it's one of those 'not everyone knows about it' type series (as opposed to Dragonball, Sailor Moon and Pokemon). I liked the whole rpg style/fantasy setting of the story. 

 

Honorable mentions: 

 

Revolutionary Girl Utena- I was going to list this but honestly the anime was 10x better. The manga was the original adaptation and it's not an easy read. The anime is much better at explaining that the story is a massive head-trip (visual cues, much more in depth when it comes to characterization). 

 

Getbackers- I'd list this but I honestly haven't read enough of the series to warrant an official inclusion or 'top' rating.

None of these look like me.

However they do have some of my features.

 

Sasz has that awesome afro (as I do when I leave my hair to grow).

Given that my eyes are brown and hair is black, I share this in common with a lot of gaming protagonists

I guess I have the same skin colour as The Prince of Persia

 

In real life I'm Black, White and Asian. I have a mixture of various ethnic features.

As a result I am unable to find a single video game character that looks like me. With the exception of player created characters.
