Sorry, but Bioware is a business. It only cares as far as it can take your money. Old gen is not the market they care about, just like PC is not the market they care about. Get used to it, or change to current gen. You're just a side dish, they did enough to part you from your money, job done.

No, I don't imagine they'd put that on the box.

That is how it works though. You can't expect them to make games for the 360 forever. Eventually, you've gotta upgrade or get left behind. They shouldn't have released the game for old gen - but you can't really expect a game made for current gen systems to shine on 10 year old hardware, either.

I don't expect anything other than what I paid for, which is a game that is playable and has the functions I was lead to believe by BioWare that it should have, and has the graphic quality that you would expect an Xbox360 or PS3 game should have. Right now I have a game that looks like it was released at least 15 years ago, that goes mute every time I travel to a different area, that has background music that plays for about five seconds before fading out, with hardly any banter at all I might add, and the dialouge-wheel during quest related banter never highlights. All these issues combined ruins my experience of the game. And I have reported these problems both in threads here and on the EA Help forum many times. I've also posted on the Dragon Age Inquisition and BioWare Facebook-pages, but instead of replying or just ignoring me as per usual, they blocked me.

Sorry, I didn't mean for this to turn into a rant, but I am honestly at my wits end here.

These are perfectly reasonable expectations.

I'm not wanting to rub salt in the would, but aside of multiplayer, my SP DAI on XB1 runs like a dream after patch 2.

The 'not talking' thing is kind of their policy if something is not quite right.

I think they have realised that if they do talk about issues they are working on, they still get beat up on the forums,

or they get beat up on the forums for not talking.

The second one is less getting beat up than the first one and they can focus their people on the issues not the forums.

Also, any quote about something not working will be thrown back in their face forever...

Sure, the silence is frustrating.

But silence does mean they are working on 'stuff' even if it won't necessarily be the stuff you want.

I'm glad the game works for you. If I had the money to buy a second gen console I would, and I would have gotten DA I for that console. But I don't. And as it is, I don't think I would buy anything from BioWare even if I could afford an XboxOne or a PS4.

And I hope you're right, that the silence means that they are working on patches... Or well, at least we can hope they are working on patches and not just polishing their shiny GOY trophies.

I felt the same way as the OP about Skyrim which was totally unplayable on my PS3. I went on the Bethesda boards looking for help, support, a response, an apology... but got nada. I finally had to accept the fact that I threw away $60.00 bucks

I really think an error was made in trying to make DA:I for old generation consoles. I bought a PS4 specifically
for this game and I am glad I did. If they fix the PC issues and we can get some good mods I will also buy it for my P.

If I were you I would return the game if possible. If not grieve your loss and hope that patches make your game playable. The game is a lot of fun, and I hope you can eventually play it.

Funny enough, I got Skyrim for Xbox360 and I've never had any problems with it at all. It just goes to show that buying a game is a bit like playing the numbers or buying one of those scratch cards. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. When it comes to Dragon Age Inquisition it seems I have lost. At least I can get the game to start and I can play it so long as I don't expect much in the way of sound and things like that.

Unfortunately I can't return the game since I broke the plastic wrapper it came in. Which you kind of have to do in order to play the game, but as soon as you've done that the game is unreturnable. *sigh* And to be honest, I'm still hoping that there will be a patch dealing with at least some of the more major issues like audio so that I can play the game and enjoy it like I want to do. I love Dragon Age and have done ever since I played Origins. And I want nothing more than to be able to play Dragon Age Inquisition and explore Thedas and get to know these new characters, and meet up with old characters and just loose myself in the story and the imagination of it all. :)

Bioware and EA,

This letter is from your fans, both past and present, to request better testing for your games and also better interaction from you, the developers, with your fans.  It should be noted that this is not intended to be another “Retake Mass Effect”.

The release of Dragon Age Inquisition was something we have awaited for some time.  While many of us were able to play the game without issues, there were many more who are either unable to play the game still due to various issues, or issues who negatively impact the games story telling or multiplayer.  We understand that it is a very big game, on a new engine, and on multiple systems which makes it difficult to catch every bug or glitch before and after release.  We also understand that due in part to the holidays and the timing of the games release that you, the developers, are more than entitled to spend time with your families and loved ones.  What we do ask for is for testing to be more comprehensive before release, and that issues such as those will be listed below are caught and fixed before the game goes to market.

Some of the issues that have been causing problems for people, both in single player and multiplayer, are:

Stuttering cut scenes.  This seems to be the biggest issue that players have been having with the game.  While this issue has been addressed somewhat it is still not fixed for many and as of “Patch 2” it has caused the problem to start happening where it never was a problem before.
The game crashing to desktop for no apparent reason.  This issue is a big one and can happen in the first 5 minutes or 5 hours.  It also happens in multiplayer.  This issue is something that should have been caught as it is happening across all system types and at this time does not seem to have a common denominator for what is causing it.
Multiplayer net code.  This is in serious need of improvement.  Rubber-banding, players not being granted experience and lack of ping indicator are just some of the issues with multiplayer on this game.  A lot of the issues I personally have seen in DAI in regard to the net code were also present in ME3MP, which tells me that it seems to have been ported over.
Cheating in multiplayer.  The developers have asked for the players to report cheating, however, there are several people on the leaderboard who are known cheaters in the community.  There are several people on there who were not even on the top 100 and suddenly showed up at the top with scores that shouldn’t have been possible at this time.  It is also difficult to report the cheaters when the Official Bioware Forums appear to have no community manager, and when the developers have stated they follow Reddit more closely than they do your own forums.  This is not to say that some don’t read the forums, but that statement in itself says a lot.
Developers who do post to the forums.  Several of those who do post on the official forums seem to have a belief that the players don’t know what they are talking about and are unwilling to address valid points such as issues with the game.  This is not to say that is the case all the time, but there have been veiled threats as well as general disregard of people trying to inform those who need to know of issues.  We really need to have someone who is a go between for the developers and the players.
Better patch testing in addition to better testing for the game.  To call out the shader issue which was causing players to have characters which aged 90 years overnight.  How this was not caught by internal testing prior to the patch being released goes to highlight the lack of internal testing and quality assurance.
Items in multiplayer being directly ported over into the game for skills which are not in the multiplayer aspect at this time.  More specifically items which increase focus generation which is a single player mechanic, at this time.
Finally, stating that in “Patch 2” you “Improved push-to-talk functionality when using keyboard and mouse” is a lie.  How do you improve something when it was not present to start with?  In addition to this, push to talk works when it wants to, but most of the time seems to revert back to voice activation even if the setting is enabled in the options.  Furthermore, many issues that were listed as being solved on patch notes, such as exploits on specific skills like long draw, weren’t solved after testing them in game.  Accurate patch notes would go a long way towards building trust with the player base in the future.

While many of us have very few, if any issues with Dragon Age Inquisition, the lack of beta testing has been highlighted and seems to be normal in this day for game software.  It also seems that the developers being forced to use an engine such as Frostbite 3 when said engine has been used is Battlefield 4, a game which has had multiple issues and while heavily updated, still has issues to this day was a mistake.  This is not to say that the game does not look great and that the story is not up to par (it is) we request that testing be taken as a higher priority than it seems to be.

I would like to state that I have been a player of Bioware games since the release of Baldur’s Gate 1 back in 1998 and have been an ardent supporter of Bioware since that day.  With the release of Dragon Age: Origins I had great hopes that this would be a return of sorts to those days.  I loved DA:O and still do, it is one of my favorite games still just as BG1 and BG2 are.  With the release of Mass Effect 1 I fell in love with that series as well as it was a fresh take on the fantasy RPG and RPG’s in general.  This started to change with the release of Dragon Age 2.  DA2 felt rushed to me and while the story and the characters introduced were great, the gameplay and layout seemed bland and much smaller in scope than DA:O was.  With Mass Effect 3 and the controversy surrounding the ending to the trilogy I was not a supporter of the “Take Back Mass Effect” campaign, but I was more disheartened with the direction Bioware seemed to be going.  With Dragon Age Inquisition I refused to read any reviews, told friends to shut up if they mentioned anything about the game to me because I was going to buy the game with the last bit of faith I had left in Bioware.  I will say that it is a great game and the story is well done.  When the bugs aren’t showing up the multiplayer is very fun when it works properly.  The issues this game has are so obvious that I will no longer be buying anything from Bioware at release again, and if I do, likely not until it is on a deep discount.  I will no longer support Bioware since they seem to have strayed far from the principles they used the have and are unwilling to communicate with their fans (the comment about Reddit being used over the official forums).  You have finally broken me down EAWare and have lost a fan of 16 years.

Sincerely,
Waukeen25

You can't imagine how the PS3 version of DAI is ...
Unplayable...

Many bugs, for example :

- Create a save / auto save can take 2-3 minute

- Game is crashing the PS3 frequently (freeze need hard reboot)

- Graphic is not terrible

- loading a save or when you fast travel take a while (at least 3-mn sometime more, when game auto-save)...

On PS4 it is different, those problems don't exist... but DAI need improvement, like the tactics rows, and the radial spell menu return... Like it was in DAO/ DA2...

On DAO i played at least 15 NG, on DA2 i played at lease 4 NG, on DAI i played 2 NG, i don't know if i will play another NG...

And don't talk about the multiplayer... Only 3 maps... they need to add more maps, and correct some problems...

They need to change the system where one gamer which want to finish quickly go at the end of an area, open the door and all the 3 other players are transported to the 2nd area...

There is some players which are LV11 or 12, and need to do 4-5 match in easy mode to level up their character to LV+1 instead of going to dangerous mode (the middle difficulty in the Multiplayer), so they spoil us the match, because the 3 other players are lv6 and want to earn money, explore the area, open the treasure room, those guys want to go quick, finish quick, they don't care about treasure room, they just want XP to promote...

So they speed play area after area (they are 5 area in one MP match) without giving us the time to explore the area to find materials, money, etc... they arrive to the door, open it, and us, the tree other players which are exploring are forced to follow it, and we lost money, treasure room, etc...

They need to patch this... Without 3/4 players in front of the door, door will not open...

As this we could explore the area, and find treasure room, whitout beeing spoiled of it by a damned player with a level too high for this difficulty which want only one thing finish quickly and doing another match to earn one level instead of going in upper difficulty...

You might be right. I was surprised when I realised that the game was going to be released for old gen consoles, and if it was EA that pushed this, at least BioWare could have the decency to tell us. Right now I feel cheated, and I know other who purchased the game for old gen consoles agree with me.

Although it might be reasonable to assume that EA has Bioware in some sort of contract that keeps them from sharing details about this sort of thing. I assume EA wants their company and Bioware to appear as a "united front", so by all means, it's good to get these things out, but I don't think any of us have enough knowledge of the finer points of the business relationship between EA and Bioware to know exactly where to point the finger.

Since Bioware is a Division of EA, it is logical to conclude that EA is the deciding factor in either allowing or (in the case of DAI) preventing Bioware from "sharing details about this sort of thing."

The "finer points of the business relationship between EA and Bioware" is that EA owns Bioware...

Indeed, but regardless, EA must have some set of rules that Bioware has to follow in terms of what can be made public, posted somewhere, etc. What these rules are specifically is what we, as the consumers, don't know. That is what I meant. And I'm not disagreeing with you. I was pointing out something the OP might not have thought of.

I also play DAI on Xbox 360.  I have about 210 hours in the game, so far, and am up to 'Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts' in the main quest.  My character is currently level 21 and has almost 250 Power.  Fortunately, I have not had too many issues.  At least not issues that prevent me from playing the game altogether.  The biggest issue I have encountered is my HoF not matching The Keep despite all other The Keep import information being correct.  I have had exactly 1 freeze, where I had to power off the console.  That happened when trying to view Character Data.  The only other real issue I have had is that, for some unknown reason, I could not Travel from one location to another on the World Map.  I was not attempting to Travel, while on the War Table at the time.  I was at a location, opened the World map, attempted to travel and could not.  Every location I selected had the Travel Button "greyed out".  So, I had to load an earlier save and lost about 15 minutes of playtime.  Granted, like you, I have had (immersion breaking) issues such as the music stopping and pop-in of things like foliage.  Also, the tactical camera could definitely be improved.

Admittedly, the graphics probably could have been a little better (on Old Gen) had more development time been available.  However, IMHO they aren't too bad and I should probably mention that my TV (from 1999) is an SDTV (not HDTV) and I am using S-Video not Component.  Like you, I simply don't have the funds available to upgrade to a new Console (Xbox One or PS4).  And since those only support HDTV, I would also need to purchase a new TV.  A new gaming PC is definitely out of the question.  I am confident that a patch (or two) can resolve most of the sound issues, possibly the tactical camera issues and perhaps even slightly improve the graphics (aka maybe less pop-in).   However, I don't think a patch will change the fact that you can only map 8 abilities.  IMHO, that was a deliberate (bad) design choice on the part of Bioware.  Also, I don't think a patch will be able to resolve the limited hairstyle options.

I was not able to play Skyrim, on my Xbox 360, due to the far too frequent freezes.  This became even more of an issue with the release of the 1.9 patch.  The 1.9 patch actually broke Skyrim, for me, making it less playable / stable than the 1.8 patch.  It is clear that Bethesda has no intentions of releasing a 2.0 patch, to fix what 1.9 broke.  And since there is no way to go back to the 1.8 patch, I ended up simply deleting Skyrim from my Xbox 360 HDD and shelving the game.  I got burned by Bethesda with Fallout 3 for PS3 (I bought Collector's Edition of Fallout 3 for PS3 at launch) and now with Skyrim for Xbox 360.  I also got burned with Fallout New Vegas for Xbox 360.  My save game simply would not load, even after waiting 15-20 minutes.  I checked the save game on the Xbox 360 HDD and none of them appeared to be damaged.  After the Fallout 3 PS3 fiasco, I never bought another Bethesda game for PS3.  And after the Skyrim / Fallout New Vegas Xbox 360 fiasco, I won't buy another Bethesda game (for any system) until I have read reviews and browsed the Bethesda forums to see what issues people are experiencing.

Hopefully, and I stress Hopefully Bioware's relative silence regarding Old Gen DAI issues is due to Bioware working diligently to get the next patch out...

Mine too. Sure, there are some game braking bugs in multiplayer as well as leg. But SP works almost perfectly on my Xbox one.

When this happened to me it was because I was trapped in a combat stance. Twas annoying.

To all the people that says "upgrade to the next-gen".

First of all : Some develloppers are still making great games on the current gen. I'm talking about Nippon Ichi Software here that made some of the best JRPG on the PS3 even on 2014. Now, I understand that the Bioware staff is a bunch of lazy cashgrabbers that only cares about the means of screwing me up but after playing the Mass Effect trilogy I belived they were different. You opened my eyes, thank you.

Second : I don't have the money to upgrade my gaming life. I'm more the Macintosh guy and use the Mac only to work and to surf. I'm really not in the PC gaming mind and don't want to have two separate PC (just love my totally freeze-free mac!)

Third : I was waiting for a bunch of good games on the next-gen before leaving my 360 in the dust. But... Watchdowngrade, Destinempty, Assassin Creed Bugity, Future Warfarm, Rise the QTE... THIS IS THE FUTURE OF GAMING???!!!! A bunch of mediocre and soulless softwares?! Now, the game industry revolve under three terms : Merchandising, PR and damage control. They don't care at all about quality or quantity, the important part is that the gamers belive all their lies.

Fourth : DAI was the last chance I give to the game industry to make my mind. Now, I am sure of it : this game is the last I will ever buy. I will turn into the retrogaming because they CAN'T LIE ABOUT WHAT IS INSIDE THE GAME AND CAN'T DESTROY IT WITH PATCHS!

P;S : I'm just waiting for the next games on PC that need the last graphical card at 2000$ to work. Obligatory. Don't work at all with other cards. Because players need to levelup and dev don't want to make more works to make the game fine with other hardware. Well, you want the people on old-gen to be screwed up, then the dev will screw you up too. Only a matter of time...

Serious? I had no idea... That just makes things worse. Now BioWare is ignoring all of us. *sigh*

Yes, Bioware is ignoring the entire gaming community in fear of...who knows what, unless you are a blind fanboy stroking their ego. Then they will respond to you.

This sort of cowardly behaviour I have zero respect or time for.

There are some serious issues with this game on many levels, but what Bioware is doing is covering it all up with GOTY awards and blocking anyone who is less than over-the-moon about DAI.

The fact that we've paid a substantial amount of money for a product they seem now to be unwilling to support raises a lot of red flags for me.

Something is very very wrong....

This. If I recall, old gen releases weren't even planned initially. I'm 100% certain that this was EA capitalizing on old gen's huge install base as a cash grab (and I don't believe for a second that Bioware would choose to do it, if they want to present their work in the best possible light). EA should be ashamed (they won't be)... but I'm not sure there's anything Bioware can do to fix it. You can't patch in better hardware.

Precisely what I've been saying for quite some time now. They said on twitter that they chopped it down to bare to make it fit the old gens cause it's heavily memory dependent and it still was a "tight fit". They should never have released it on old gens. This way they made both our experience shitty and we wasted our money and they dumbed down a great experience for PC and new gen console players too. Unfair to everyone.

We don't expect them to make games for the 360 forever. We expect them to make games up to the best standards there are, and then it's our responsibility to get new consoles or whatnot, that's our own decision. What we DON'T expect is to be lead on, believing that a game works for the 360 when it blatantly doesn't at the same level of experience. They should have had the decency to never release it for old gen. Ditch the old gens, focus on the new gens, that would have been the decent and fair thing to do. And don't go telling me about marketing and "welcome to the market" and bs like that, it's trite. Decency and respect to your customer is also marketing just as much as money grad and deceiptful claims are.

I was shocked when I discovered that I had been blocked. I would have understood it if I had been abusive and throwing around threats and curses and things, but I didn't. I politely asked them to speak to us, to let us know if there will be patches dealing with at least some of the major issues with DA I on first gen consoles. I can't even begin to tell you how disappointed I am with BioWare right now. If I had a BioWare or DA T-shirt I would burn it and record it all and post it on YouTube just as a protest.

Making the game available for the older generation of consoles was a mistake. Of course that this is a rude remark to those that haven't transitioned to the new gen, and I apologise to the OP. However, trying to cope with 5 different platforms is likely slowing down the patching process and straining the working conditions of the developers.

It isn't rude, it's the truth. It's calling the spade a spade. Personally I would have begrudged my fate for being unable to get an xbone, like I did with Fable 3, but I wouldn't have felt cheated, robbed, ignored and smack down the stupider of them all. I would have said ok, i'll wait and get it when i have money to get the xbone.

I absolutely agree!

Bioware has got it into their heads (or EA, whatever) to try to please everyone....

- every flavour of console (I'm a little surprised they didn't also ram it into the Nintendo Wii),

- people outside the RPG genre (they seem to have forgotten that they are developing a genre-specific game and attempt to bridge an impossible gap)

- Frostbite 3 (dictated in 2013 by EA - No they did not consider all options and went with Frostbite 3 for all its benefits. This is a LIE Mr Laidlaw, the main LIAR at Bioware, told us. The truth is that EA imposed this engine on ALL their future games from 2013 onwards)

As a result of all these compromises, we have a game that looks good on the surface. The packaging is glossy and promises much....but it is little more than a polished turd. And we, the consumers, fell for it.

But as far as I'm concerned, for the last time.

Yeah....it's a real tragedy. I am also very disappointed with Bioware as a company. I respected them.

But now that respect and loyalty is gone. Forever.

Even if you return it you won't get your money's worth, and more importantly, you won't take away all the grief this has caused us, believe it or not, many people we know wanted this to be the happy highlight of their x-mas / new year's vacation time, and being ruined to bits didn't help at all. I'm not looking for sympathy for the old gens or anything, I'm just stating the facts. Returning the copy is the least of our problems atm.
