why? i just dont get it, i just spent 49$ canadian for this game, mainly because i want to support bioware, i love their games, but why isnt my 2 cd working? and apparently many other people 2 cd is not working?
why the only people enjoying this game are the pirates?

are devs going out of their way to make sure paying costumers lose interest in buying pc games?
i dont get it
now ea and bioware got my money, what did i get in return?

I feel your pain. I bought it off Steam and it has yet to load for me. Their support has also been crap. I could of torrented it and had it working already if I didn't pay for it.

I wonder if I can get a refund, and just download from a certain body of water.

I mean, after all, they even have all of the DLC, and a crack so you don't have to log in to cerberus.

ill just wait for tomorrow and exchange it for another copy of mass effect 2 for pc, maybe there is a bad batch of cd 2 out there,

so far i feel like ea/bioware pirated my money, we gamers should be protected by some kind of money drm that if the game doesnt work we keep the money

Just out of random curiosity here...

Is there ANYONE with a legitimate, honest-to-goodness paid for copy of ME2 that has managed to install and run the damned thing without running into any kind of problems or having to perform any kind of workarounds?

And is there anyone at EA/Bioware who gives a flying flip whether or not people can actually install and play the game that they paid good money for?

Does the Cerberus stuff count as a problem? I was running fine before it and I'm doing the same now, and in about 4 minutes I'll have Zaeed and be back in the action.

i have read in here that some gamers are having the exact same problem with disc 2, so i dont know, tomorrow ill exchange it and see what happens, this is the last time i buy a pc game at launch, bioware/ea pirated my money and no one protected me from them and no one will, me an honest gamer that just wanted to play what i paid for

Ok everyone here needs to calm down and realize that unlike consoles, PC games are harder to optimize. Problems are bound to slip by. Let's also not forget that the good people at EA and Bioware are just that people and they have lives and little time so they can't get to each and every problem as quickly as you want them or they want to. They have been responding to the Cerberus issue very quickly and I thank them for it. As to your question? Yes there are people who have installed this game with no hiccup but you're not hearing from them because there's nothing for them to complain about. My game was preloaded perfectly and unlocked just on time. I even got my Cerberus code emailed at 1:01pst. Everything has been fine on my end but if I get a crashed I won't curse the PC gods and say I'm never buying a game, that I'm  just gonna pirate. Neither is contructive nor will it help in ensuring your problem doesn't happen to you or anyone else again.

I think the majority have installed it just fine. I have, although I had mine delivered.

Theirs a solution to your problem thats already been found. Sure it sucks it doesnt work as intended but to anyone with half a brain it's not hard to figure out.

Step 1. uninstal all copies of me2
Step 2. put cd2 in your cd tray
Step 3. Useing deamon tools or a program like that make an image of the cd
Step 4. Mount said image of disk 2
Step 5. put cd 1 in cd tray
Step 6. instal, it shouldnt ask for disk 2 becuase you have it mounted in a virtual drive
Step 7. ???
Step 8. PROFIT!

Also to make sure you've got everything you need your mass effect folder at the end  of the instal should total roughly 11.4GB if it's less you are missing something smack yourself and start from step 1.

If you accually even seached these fourms you could find EXACTLY what I just said more then once in different post. Sure it sucks it doesnt work as intended out of the box, but you have two choices work for a solution, or cry on the fourms. <_<

edit

I should also add, these places like that body of water have a fix made for a certin problem people with a single core are having (it basically scales down a 720 resolution opening video that plays while loading textures causing your single core processer to fail worst then john mcains presidency).

So what if his problem is the same as mine in that my DVD drive won't even read the second disc. Your solution won't work for me because I can't read the disc to mount the contents.

Are you sure it wont READ the disk at all? I know clicking "Try again" or whatever on the installer does nothing but if the second disk is readable by the drive then you can make an imagine out of it. If not, you're either out of luck or once again can go to a place illuded to in the title of this post.

Wouldn't even read it. Tried looking at the contents of the disc with Windows Explorer, and nada. Nothing there at all. It's like there was no disc inserted in the drive whatsoever.

That being said, I did find a way to get it installed. I pulled an older DVD drive out of my daughter's computer and hooked it up to mine. It read the disc and the game's now installed. Of course, the damned thing didn't install where I wanted it to (my F drive), but at least it's on the machine.

Not to be rude, but a lot of the problems people are having are I/O errors...Incompetent Operators. People need to calm down. EVERY PC game is released with bugs and glitches. Be patient, and it will all work out.

I have a legit CE version and haven't had one hiccup yet. Awesome game! Loving every minute of it!

Sounds like the same mess as with DA all over again - I spent 2 days and half my sanity getting DA to run - I swore never to buy a new EA/Bio game again or use any DLC for a EA/Bio Game ever again (even if they would pay me for doing so).

Problems happen, honestly. Would you prefer the staff be coding patches, or posting here about coding patches? Game released less than 24 hours ago.

Bugs and glitches are things that go wrong in the game. example, having a gun that shoots off center or teleporting outside Normany when I go into the woman's restroom as a male shepard would fall under bugs and glitches category. I won't exactly classify the inability to install the game as bug nor glitch.

I would expect pirated copies to have issues with installation, but not if I paid money for an original copy. Luckily for me, mine went without a hitch.

I'm having issues with the release date checker. It keeps saying it failed the release date check (though it's obviously after the date).

I've tried disabling firewall, anti-virus, etc. Still no luck.

What gives, EA?

I had the issue where it wouldn't read disk 2. Turn the disk over and look at it carefully. Mine needed to be cleaned (with a soft cloth so you don't scratch it !). There was a smudge on the track that was stopping the drive from reading it successfully.

Mines is working. I preordered so I'm missing my Infernal Armor feature.

I've emailed EA support on the issue and will see if they give me the missing code.  Depending on how they answer will effect my next choice.
