Not to be rude, but a lot of the problems people are having are I/O errors...Incompetent Operators. People need to calm down. EVERY PC game is released with bugs and glitches. Be patient, and it will all work out.

I have a legit CE version and haven't had one hiccup yet. Awesome game! Loving every minute of it!

It is rude. Just because you don't have any troubles, it means that eveyone that does is somehow incompetent with their PCs? The problem with the second disc not being read isn't a bug or glitch that's going to be resolved with a patch or just 'work out' on its own. Luckily, I happened to have an extra drive that would read it and could hook it up to my PC to get it installed, but not everyone is in that position.

It's great the game is working flawlessly for you, but let's just stop casting aspersions, okay?

This same thing happened when the first Mass Effect came out. EA sucks a fat dick.

why? i just dont get it, i just spent 49$ canadian for this game, mainly because i want to support bioware, i love their games, but why isnt my 2 cd working? and apparently many other people 2 cd is not working?
why the only people enjoying this game are the pirates?

are devs going out of their way to make sure paying costumers lose interest in buying pc games?
i dont get it
now ea and bioware got my money, what did i get in return?

Anytime i EVER buy ANYTHING from bioware I torrent it also.. In the not so rare event that the game is tottally broken.  Surprisingly I did not need to use any cracked or special exes to get mass effect 2 working. This was a shocker to me.  But yeah dont pirate unless you already paid for the product and are just useing the pirated version to fix the legit version. When mass effect 1 came out you couldent save your game and you were forced to

A. wait 3 months for a legit patch
or
B. Download a pirated version of the game exe that fixed all your problems and even reduced lag by 30%

So bioware isnt giving people much choice anymore. The torrent is not even being used ilegally its more of an insurance policy at this point.

Just out of random curiosity here...

Is there ANYONE with a legitimate, honest-to-goodness paid for copy of ME2 that has managed to install and run the damned thing without running into any kind of problems or having to perform any kind of workarounds?

And is there anyone at EA/Bioware who gives a flying flip whether or not people can actually install and play the game that they paid good money for?

Installing it from impulse was fine for me. Only one issue remaining which is that galaxy map would crash when I try to open it so I am stuck on normandy once you get on it. There seem to be lack of common between people who has this error.

I can confirm that I managed to install the game, install the DLCs AND run the game without anny problems...

I did have a wierd clipping issue and it did take about 30 mins to decrypt the files(bought the game off steam)... but oh well.

(PS: dont run in the game exept in battle situation... you might end up falling through the world or being stuck somewhere...)

Yes, I followed all on screen instructions on install and it worked fine. I find it humorous you guys have so much trouble installing a game!

That is, unless something really isn't working, in which case, :'(

Here's something I'm wondering, if you really have "paid" for yours, why have you not registered it yet? I don't know how your Mass Effect 2 could have such an issue installing unless it's an issue with your DvD drive, or because you didn't really buy it... >.>

I bought the CE of Fallout 3 and it wouldn't install, returned it and got another copy, same thing, resorted to downloading it to play as I could not get it to install. Some dvd drives have trouble with the cd checks, or reading data on certain cds. This isn't just a Bioware/EA thing.

Just curious, are these burner drivers or just regular dvd drives? Have any of you tried cleaning the disk? If another drive reads the disk, then its not really the disk so much as it is your drive, but I realize not everyone has a second drive laying around. I don't have any other ideas at the moment other than trying to clean the disk, or return it again, sorry.

ME2 installed fine (unlike ME1 did...good god that was a nightmare), but can't connect to the network for DLC, not a big problem.

Mine's a burner (Pioneer). Tried cleaning the disc, firmware is up to date. No joy. The drive that did read it is also a burner, but a different brand (LG). The LG is also an IDE as opposed to the Pioneer (SATA).

Oh, I don't doubt that it could very well be the cds in a lot of cases, there are always bad batches which is to be expected, sadly, on this scale. Sometimes cleaning them can remove any film that got on the cd, and sometimes certain lasers have trouble with how some cds are burnt, especially if they have a disk check in them. And sometimes it just a bad cd. :(

Seriously Bio Ware  You make me wait and build up the hype then you stupid !#<# go and release a piece of crap for the PC that doesn't even read the second disk  to install the game . So im sorry to say, i shouldn't have to do anything to play a game i paid 69.99 dollars CA pre order for not for this piece of crap collectors edition that doesn't even work. Its pc you guys built everything on, so show some respect and send out a proper product that works. As of now you lost a customer and don't even expect me to look at Old Republic for purchase the hype and intrest is gone thanks for nothing you shoulda stayed seperate from EA  .
