Are there any more posts with a more detailed Archer Assassin Build? I am gonna try one my second time through. Thanks.

Frankly I defenetley would go with these abilities because these are the basic and must have abilities to keep your archer out of danger and pick off targets easy. However i would add on at least Poison weapons + upgrade and maybe Tempest so you can triple tap attacks like Longshot and Leapshot like you won't believe or better yet activate fire flask +upgrade, evade + upgrade to get near your target (adds attack damage), and leapshot three times for crazy damage.

The above thread probably has a little something for any rogue combination.
Specializations:
If you like stealth, don't go tempest. Tempest was boring because you end up spamming long shot. The only fun thing to do, as a tempest, is either exploit thousand cuts (which makes things too easy), or try to take advantage of terrain so you can spam leaping shot.
Assassin was more entertaining to me, because of frequent use of stealth. You pick a target, and it dies. Only downside to assassin is the focus kind of sucks. Some people swear by it, but it seems lack luster.
I can't comment on artificer. I don't like traps. But I've heard it's got some nice features, such as when your party member crits it reduces cooldowns. That would let you use abilities you like, with long cool downs, more frequently. It's got a nice focus, or so I hear.
Gear:
Archery lacks crit, but cunning effect on crit chance isn't that great either. I picked armor and weapons that included offense leather slots. Use +crit chance in these to boost your crit. Stack Dex (which also comes from leather that gives +crit chance it seems). Bear hide, great bear hide, etc are perfect. For act 1, go get the spiked bow schematic from Val Royeaux. I used that bow until I could slip into the hissing wastes and get the mastercraft spiked bow schematic from one of the tombs (right next to a camp IIRC). There are 2 purple bows you can buy in skyhold in the interim if you must.
If you ever switch to dual wield for a break in gameplay/style, then you'll still want to stack dex, but get +%attack instead of +crit%. Reason is if you are flanking, you already have a lot of crit due to passives. crit damage is good for both, but make sure your crit% is already decent (>50% IMHO).
Skills:
Most builds will recommend all four skills from the archery tree. I'd hold off on leaping shot for act1 though. Use of stealth and evade to survive instead. Poisoned weapons is great for act 1 because most mobs won't die too quickly. After act 1 I dropped it though. Some will keep it just to use it in tandem with explosive shot. Every build I've seen will go get caltrops and the passive below it for the stamina regen. No one uses caltrops.
I made Cole into an Assassin Archer with not too much thought and when I control him he is crushing. I can only imagine using my Inquisitor as one, putting a lot of thought into the build. I do have Cole with Shadow Strike, only because its fun to try to get in close now and again. I can just evade and stealth back to safety. I can't wait to try and come up with something for my next run.
First thing to decide is whether to play a melee or ranged archer. Melee archer? Yes. Melee archer. The Rogue specializations were intended to be playable for either bow or dagger, so half their skills reward melee and half reward bows. If you melee with a bow, you get both. For instance, tempest and artificer both have ways to negate cooldowns. Leaping Shot, from point blank range, does huge damage. Closing to melee and spamming leaping shot works pretty surprisingly well. Closing to melee range also makes it easy to circle round your enemies and deal flank damage, and it enables you to use sleep skills. Sleep -> Stealth -> walk around to enemy backside -> Full Draw is hilarious.
On level 8 with my Archer. Doing pretty well on NM. Making Blackwall a duplicate of my 2h Champion from my first run. Leaping Shot close range, then longshot is pretty good damage this early on. Can't wait for the Assassin Spec. Does anyone suggest Poison Weapons? I haven't touched this tree yet.
Is the following statement true?
"If your an assassin you want dex. You want to try and abuse autocrits from stealth and no cooldown on stealth after kill as much as possible so the additional dex and crit damage is going to be more useful."
I am about to get the Assassin spec. I want to know if this is how I should proceed with crafting weapons and armor. Go for Dex.
Get the swan bow schematic (better than the one in the hidden wastes). All specializations are good but artificer falls short if your party does not have high crit. Tempest is a one trick pony for the most part. Having played all 3 the Assassin spec seems to work best as you are not reliant on a focus ability.
Dex is your primary stat and there really is no need for cunning (MP aside) as you can craft using greater bear/snowfleur pelts to get your crit over 50% quite easily. Open Emprise asap and farm some snowfleurs....
Yeah I got Swan Bow and been farming them chubby little bastards. I need more metal Tier 3. Only seem to get one per harvest (Lv 12).
Ah lvl 12...next place to open is the Hissing Wastes. If you go north from the initial camp you can get neverite (i think it is) and if you go way west you can get plenty of volcanic arum. Basically keep south along the cliffs and once it opens up you will unlock the burial tomb. There you can get 5-6 volcanic arum per run. Yes it takes a bit but it is well worth it! You do not have to fight anything. Should you take the north route for the neverite stop once you see the rift. You can actually set your party to disengage and grab another node or 2 but I found it is best to take the western route for the volcanic arum.
Sadly at your level you can only get 1 per node. As you level you get more but simply run west and grab what is available then zone out and zone back in and repeat. Actually you can solve that tomb and get a very nice DW tier 3 dagger schematic at the burial tomb without ever getting into combat....provided you solve the puzzle. Its easy so no worries....just save before you attempt solving it! Good xp, great schematic, lots of tier 3 stone......win/win/win.
edit - oh one other thing.! Once you are at the burial tomb complex and should you feel adventurous hop on your mount and go due north. You will see a canyon but do not run into it.....skirt along the sides to the west and then grab the outpost on the northern side. It is usually open. Once you have that outpost you can jump on your mount and ride again to the east this time along the canyon and drop off right above the vendor and get tier 3 armor schematics. Be sure to make the "jump" while on your mount as you take no damage....nor does the mount ![]()
Google the map for the hissing wastes vendor location and you are golden. Easily done at your level!
^^ Thanks. This is my second run through the game. 1st run was as a 2H Champion (which I loved). Sometimes I use Blackwall and remember how much fun it was. I like this archer build for sure. I am so much more efficient this second time through. I love how everything is working just as I want. Nice knowing I can get these schematics and not struggle so bad like I did my first time through.
Since you have the swan bow already I wouldn't even worry about another bow schematic. Get a good grip, runes (might want to craft 2-3 bows so you can have one type that you can equip when needed), and a good set of armor and you can now solo the game. Seriously....maybe put +3/5 guard on a bow but you shouldn't really need it. Should you find any fade touched items that grant hidden blades you make something to put it on asap!
I like the Hidden Blades Proc for both Armor and Weapons. What do you suggest? Maybe Chain Lightning or Immolate on hit. 75% weapon damage for the Bow. Armor masterwork procs? Not sure what would be useful for a Bowman.
