Who the hell thought it would be fun to run around big empty areas looking for someone to duel for the Champion Specialization? There are quest markers for every god damn thing in the game except for specializations. 3 hrs running around in circles is not my idea of time well spent.

You're not alone, far too many time wasters from scrambling all over to find herbs to unlinked quests w/o resolution - there are even quest delays at the war table that take longer than the main quest to complete -some mmo strategy?  The logic of these decisions escapes many of us.

Was just looking at how to get the arcon staff today and I have cheat engine among other tools, but DA3 is so unstable with quest items in it's current shape.  The ps4 folks use their console to reset time and demonstrate the quests to get the master archon staff schematic -PC clock has no similar effect, so its a waiting game.

Totally agree with you that these quests make no sense. The moment I realized it was the equivalent of a joke to attempt these quests, I stopped and moved on.

Amen.  At the very least they should make them transferable as in DAO, so you do it once you've got them in following playthroughs.  Making them so hard to find and not just random drops in areas was an additional fun killer.

Dunno if that's necessarily better though - in Origins, you could just unlock the specialization you want and then immediately reload to bypass the consequences (e.g. if you let the demon have Connor in exchange for blood magic)

IIRC that's because these quest items are dropped from respawning monsters (and thus you don't get a quest marker much like you don't get a quest marker for the ten rams you have to kill in the Hinterlands)

If it is going to be a quest make it something besides find 3 out-of-the-way and random areas and them minerals on a completely different map; give me a dungeon or specific area, a gauntlet, not a fetching.  I do think it would be better for them to transfer.  I found a trainer.  I talked with them.  They trained me.  Specialization accomplished.
