Strictly to the Dragon Age universe, well, the games, I like:

 

Dragon Age Origins: Anora is my pick. I really like ruthless, beautiful, smart women like her (I like Morrigan too of course, but Anora tops her.) That is why I consider the Male Cousland that becomes King-Consort as my canon in terms of story.

 

Dragon Age II: Aveline is my pick. Strong, stubborn, righteous, I like her. I like Merril too for her blood-magic-powered cuteness and Isabella for her STD-infested spirit of freedom.

 

Dragon Age III: Cassandra is alright, Sera is ok once you know her, Vivienne is hilarious... no clear favorite in here, all of them are pretty much equal to me. Maybe Josephine, since unlike Merril she is also cute but without a speck of blood magic in her (although quite ruthless too...)

I also liked Petrice, or rather liked to hate her. There should be more femalecharacters like her. With that in mind:

Now for something completely different.

Females I hated..... Cauthrien defo and also Clarel. Mainly because i have a slight suspicion if either had been male there is a very good chance they wouldnt have been "humanized" or "redeemed" and instead left to ignoble deaths or shown as 1 dimensional.

I think there is still a shortage of flat out negative female portayals. Id like to see more irredeemable, unjustifiable female villains. Id like to see more female characters getting their righteous just deserts. If there is a character with no good qualities you are supposed to enjoy killing, or enjoy seeing killed gruesomely its nearly always men. Its why i liked Petrice: because there was bugger all to like about her!

My all time favorite has to be Leliana. She sings, she loves animals, she's smart.... and she cheats at chess.

 

Cute even when she's annoyed.

I have quite different view, I'm just confused about sister/mother Petrice as character cause I couldn't find motive for her evilness. I even sided with her once to try that out and I though it would give some deeper view to her character but it didn't so I was left confused. I can't even hate her cause I can't understand her character XD

 

(I like her character design though. When I first saw my friend playing DA2 I commented on her how great sister Petrice looked. She gave me quite weird look XD.)

Cassandra is like one of those jawbreaker candies. Incredibly hard shell, gooey sweetness inside.

The argument in the tavern is a great scene. They both have a point, but they are also both wrong in some ways. Great dynamic between those two.

Jaw breakers yuck I could never get deep to the good stuff, just end up with lint covered candy and broken child dreams. But the description of for Cassandra is a good one I would have gone with war heads as well well hmm maybe a reverse war head? Yeah na just stick to jaw breaker, war head is sweet on the outside sour on the inside so doesn't work. Damn.

 

Random barely related note Sera would very much be vodka infused gummie bears.

Liquor isn't really my thing but someone told me thats what they thought of Sera, though  the skittles thing sounds better. I'd compare her to a warhead but I love warheads to death so bias comparison.

Theres barely anything to understand about her character to be honest bar that she hates/fears the qunari. Other than the only thing the player needs to know is that she deserves to die for her crimes. Shes pretty much completely without merit. I always viewed the qunari as antagonists and even i found nothing redeeming in terms of her fears about them - it was just completely the wrong way to do things.

So yeah she sucks and thats a good thing in my book, as there needs to be a more even distribution of that between genders from my experience (and im talking in general here not just in dragon age).
