Did this happened, because you didn't recruited Dorian, or there is some other parameter?

Either don't recruit Dorian at all, or side with the Templars and don't talk to Dorian until that scene triggers.

You can get this scene (Cullen vs Leliana Chess scene) even if you recruit Dorian.

Conditions:

1. Side with Templars

2. Do not talk to Dorian before Cullen's Chess Scene. You only "recruit" Dorian officially when you talk to him first time in Skyhold. Just do the convos with Cullen until you get the Chess Scene.

IMO, Cullen vs Dorian is much a better scene compared to Cullen vs Leliana.

I'm biased towards Leliana myself, but hey.

The scene with Dorian has both gents acting a little cocky and Dorian being a little pouty about losing. With Leliana, the 'colleague' vibe comes through while still having gentle ribbing. *That piece wasn't there before. Such accusations, Commander.*

I like that Leliana asks for a rematch. :D

That's why I like a bit more Cullen vs Dorian chess scene actually, both men got a bit more on the teasing side

Cullen vs Leliana is very very competitive.

Love how Dorian reply with "I am always... nice" with his cocky smile

.......

Oh I am siding with Templars this time around, so i'm tempted to try it. Finding all these little details make me think that I've missed about 80% of the game my first PT.

I really like the dynamic between the advisors. Cullen is direct in all things, Leliana is all about subterfuge and Josephine uses a mix of both.(getting the Marquis Durellion to back down by threatening to sic Cassandra on him is a good example of such a mix.)

To be fair to the Marquis, I would not want to duel Cassandra either.

Imagine a scene where Josephine get both Leliana & Cullen on an afternoon tea...

So you approve of the domestic oppression of women? A woman is only fit for marriage if she can cook and sew? And I suppose poetry is appropriate because it is 'girly'? You foul fiend! You should be ashamed! Ashamed, I say!

Yup! You don't have to romance her, just be her BFF and she'll cook you all the time, if you check her journal she does write about it. And she does knit, i forgot how she calls it (Based Cat, i need your help here!)
