It does not sit right with me, but I think I will go Templar this time. I do not believe in having a major faction in a bloody civil war just going about their business as allies, like nothing happened. Therefore, I will conscript them. My main question is how does this affect the Divine outcome? I do not want Cassandra becoming Divine this time.
Thinking about Going Templar This Time *spoilers*

Yes it does. Apparently siding with the Templars makes it more likely that Cass will become Divine regardless of whether you ally or conscript them.

I thought conscripting the Templars made it more likely for Leliana to be elected and allying with them made it more likely for Cassandra to be elected? Like allying or conscripting the Mages made it more likely for the Divine to be Leliana or Cassandra respectively.

I have seen endings where Vivienne becomes Divine if the Templars are supported.

Makes sense. Vi is very pro-circle and doesn't really believe that mages should be allowed to run around unsupervised waving their magic all over the place, with the exception of herself.

Mages again I guess. I am not sure how I wound up with Cassandra as Divine last time. My Inquisitor was so against the chantry, that if I were given the chance I would have had him liquidate the Inquisition-after saving the world-for the funds to resituate all of the soldiers and workers into their normal lives. Which, would have left the chantry without a militaristic pet Inquisitor. That would have been the final logical step for my Inquisitor. lol

In the Divine thread, somebody went into the game files and revealed that who becomes Divine goes through a point system with the one with the most points becoming divine. Allying with mages gives Leliana 10 points while conscripting them gives Vivienne 10 points. Allying with the templars gives Cass 10 and Vivienne 5 while conscripting them gives Cass 5 and Vivienne 1. Leliana gets no points if you side with the Templars.

Did you agree with Cass' ideas? Apparently saying you agree with her plans gives big boosts to her points and makes it much more likely for her to be divine. If you really don't want her to become divine, don't agree with what she says since those conversations give big boosts.

I didn't agree with her. Maybe it was a bug?

You can still easily make Vivenne divine if you constript the templars. Just save Celene and make sure she rules Orlais alone and remember to support Vivienne through the war table mission when you get the chance.

Well, there was that one conversation near the end when she asks about the future of the relationship "and if I become Divine?" I responded "then you become Divine," it did not feel right to be controlling and tell her to refuse the offer.

I had Cass as Divine on my first playthrough when I picked the mages and let them free and Vivienne when I chose the templars as free allies too. I think it has to do with what dialogue options you pick? I actually wanted Leliana as divine on my first playthrough but I encouraged both her and Cass to be Divine so I accidentally got Cass. Also note that I think whoever gets a wartable mission to support them is the one that's going to become divine, regardless of if you do the war table mission or not.

I might have went with the wrong save (a dumb quicksave, probably one that I continued from in the main menu) , because I wanted to see-during the first conversation concerning Cassandra becoming Divine-what the different dialogue options would sound like. I might have gone with the romance answer by mistake (which in fact encourages her).

Good man.
Truly, the only respectable decision for the M/T War quests.

What if you make all three work together?

You're basically taking them prisoners, right?
So it's the same as taking the other side.

I think it still supports Vivienne given that Celene is still in power. If Celene lives, Vivienne gets support. Cass gets support if Gaspard rules alone and Leliana gets support if Briala rules.

Let me understand this constripting thing.

Conscription is a legal action, whereby a group of people are made to fight for the state. I do not believe in allowing the Templars full autonomy so soon after a civil war (same goes for the mages). I was hoping to reform them as a police force (however that is just me role-playing). I am not sure what your last sentence means, you need to exapned on it.

That is what I was thinking, anyway, I think I figured out why Cassandra ended up as Divine last time lol. It was probably between Cass and VIV, but I accidentally went with the wrong save, the one where I encouraged Cass. lol

They're cattle. You're not supporting their side, which means the option to seek out the mages remains available.
And vice versa.
Is that it?

I saw it as making the mages join the army, instead of giving them full privileges. I do not think the mages disserve their own sovereignty-at least, not yet. I would like to keep the circles as an educational institution, and put the Templars into communities as a special police force. The writing does not leave to much room for flexibility however. lol

I meant that it's not a real alliance, you're forcing them to work for you.

In theory, yeah.

Conscription means that they are absorbed into the army. Otherwise they would be under full command of the grand enchanter Fiona. The Inquisiton commands what they do instead. They are not cattle, they are more like magical soldiers. As for supporting a side, if you form an alliance with either faction, then the faction is seprate from the Inquisiton, they have full autonomy to do what they please. They work with you instead of for you. So Cory dies, then they can leave and do whatever. You can't save the mages if you go templar or vice versa.
