That's pretty close to my list. Nice explanations by the way. Somehow I forgot to mention Dorian was funny and charming, ha. Anyway, since you put Hawke on the list (which actually makes sense considering we're meant not to see it from their perspective), I'll add the PCs.

Friends

- Hawke (Sarcastic/funny Hawke, that is)

- My Warden (More mixed personality, but my favourite protagonist in DA)

Acquaintances

- The Inquisitor

For me she just... wasn't as interesting as the others. Lacked personality in my opinion. She wasn't as funny as Hawke, not as heroic as the Warden, had no interesting backstory or family who appear ingame, etc. I like the inquisitor... but something felt lacking to me. I'm curious to know what others thought.

I actually would place my Quizzy in the Acquaintances list as well. Like you, I never felt as if I got to know him beyond him fixing a hole in the sky and battling the big baddie. My Warden would actually be my rival, he's just so different from me and not a very nice guy. I think he fits perfectly as a noble in the DA verse and because of that he wouldn't be my favorite person irl.

More Acquaintances:

Iron Bull (He would scare me even if I found out he was a protective guy)

Aveline (See Iron Bull)

More rivals:

Carver (Douche)

Shale (Angry Douche)

Zevran (Horny Douche)

I'm too tired to make a huge list right now but my bff would be Josie. We'd get along like a house on fire, she actually reminds a bit of my real life bff.

As much as it pains me to say, I don't think that I'd be friends with Vivienne.  She's my favorite of the companions, but in real life I wouldn't be able to stand her, I suspect.  Not sure about Dorian, but I might feel the same way about him.

I'd probably be friends with Solas, Varric, and Josephine in real life.  The more low-key and nice people.

As friends in real life?

I'd say Vivienne. Actually. I don't know why. There's just something about her.

Morrigan for sure.
Iron Bull
Josephine
Varric
Merril

I couldn't see Vivienne as a friend, but just someone I'd respect and listen to. Like a boss. That moment at Skyhold at first, when she talks about you being dirty... it's endearing to me. Maybe it infuriates others.

Hmm in real life I'd probably be friends with...

Solas (nerdy academic bros)

Morrigan (that friend I drink cocktails with once a month)

Cullen (my guy friend who constantly whines about his love life)

Anders (jokester buddy who suddenly got super intense after grad school)

Merrill (cute friend I call to go shopping with)

Zevran (amuses me with the outrageous things he says)

I tend to balk at befriending too many people so it would be unrealistic to stretch it beyond that :P even though I love most of the characters.

Wow, personally I can't imagine him talk about his love life at all...

lol He just reminds me of a friend I have. Very old-fashioned, kind of stoic, never really lets me MEET any of these women. But oh how he likes to mope when one of them breaks up with him. I do imagine that Cullen would share things like that with a very close friend!

I could see being friends with Varric. He'd probably always have a good story and he'd be pretty loyal and steadfast if you had his friendship. I  would want to be friendly with Cassandra but not sure how that would turn out as she's too into withholding large parts of herself in order to her job.

I am certain I would not be friends with Vivienne as it's hard to embrace someone who just isn't altruistic in any way.

Ooh yeah I can see your point, he's kind of the guy who'll be really trusting once the initial wall had been torn down!

I just wonder whether once you're close enough, he'll be the guy who'll say torrents of things he always refuses to talk about in his "stoic mode" or not B)

Dorian and Cassandra would be my BFFs. I feel like both would be people you could share anything with and count on to be there for you always. The most loyal of friends.

God parents for all the baby cully wully's!

This is a surprisingly difficult question. I might like them, but would they want to be friends with me, hmm?

The best bet for me would probably be Alistair, Wynne, Sigrun, Bethany, Carver (he reminds me of my brother), Merrill (if the dangerous decisions thing didn't put me off), Josephine, Dorian, Varric, Cole. Maybe even Solas, provided he didn't treat me like a ******. I'd get along with DAO Leliana, but DAI Leliana might just intimidate me.

I think I'd want to be friends with someone like Cassandra or Aveline, but I'd probably get all tongue-tied and Merrill-ish around them. If they had the patience, then sure.

Don't think I'd be enough of a misbehaving risk-taker to get along with Zev, Isabela or Sera for very long. They'd be all 'let's go out all night partying' and I'd be 'nooo I want to get to level 23 on my game'.

Morrigan and Vivienne would probably just upset me. I love them as characters, but they might just be a bit too acerbic to be friends with.

Well I would probably end up in an epic pub crawl with Alistair,Iron Bull and Varric along with the sarcastic Garret Hawke. Then if I actually managed to extract myself from that somehow Zevran and Isabela would just take me along with them to get in trouble.

Others are a bit too much, Cassandra and Leliana are a bit too religious, Vivienne and Josephine are of a completely different social understanding, Sten is too much into Qun, Merril and Morrigan are too friendly with stuff that would make me uncomfortable. Yeah I think I would be friends only with the characters that can compromise on their own position, someone whose morality is not set in stone, whose goals are more human I suppose. I get a feeling that apart from Iron Bull, Varric, Zevran and Isabella the rest are going to frown upon my character.

Isabela, Dorian and I would be the three amigos. I'm sure of it.

Zevran, Sera and Morrigan would most likely be outer circle friends we hang out with frequently.

Vivienne would be the room mate I hang out with on occasion and we'd gossip about people over a glass of wine.

This is a surprisingly difficult question. I might like them, but would they want to be friends with me, hmm? *snip*

It is a hard question. I meant my list to be people I would want to be friends with. Whether I would ever get there is another question entirely. It's easy ingame; I'm an armoured, experienced, and confident person who has no problem talking to people and never curls up into a mental ball and stays quiet because she's intimidated by people and socially awkward. But in real life, it would be very hard for me to get to know a lot of them I think, even if I'd want to.

A. Come back to IT chat

B. Cullen (DA:I Cullen at least), Solas, Zevran, Dorian, Varric, and Dog

A. I don't know if that's possible. PM me if you have questions.

B. Ah, I was wondering if you liked Cullen.

I'd be great friends with Dorian, Solas, Cassandra, and Varric.  I...would probably become Vivienne's servant.  So that's not really a friendship...

None of them, because companions aren't friends with average citizens.

Closest possible would maybe be Varric, but he seems more of a 'favorite customer' kind of guy, and thank god I'm not in retail or food service.  I'm sure he would be very nice if I asked him to sign my copies of "Hard in Hightown".

What makes you say that? I would count Bull's Chargers as "average citizens", Sera most most definitely engages with normal people, etc. Even if that were true, this is a thought experiment about who you would want to be friends with, not who would be friends with you.

Others are a bit too much, Cassandra and Leliana are a bit too religious *snip*

Leliana is crazy-religious, as in crazy and religious, which is a dangerous and scary combination. So agreed there. As for Cassandra though, I was less annoyed by her faith than I expected, even though it is a large part of her personality. She agrees to disagree, respects you and becomes your friend regardless, doesn't shove it down your throat, and questions herself. So I was pretty happy with that.

Iron Bull: I would drink a lot of ale with him.

Solas: He's the type of guy who would talk about the theoretical aspects of the universe and multiverses

Dorian: I'd be two-faced with Dorian, laughing at his wit but talk crap behind his back

Not Sera (there's more then enough of her in my country)

Friends:

Varric.  Simply because he's Varric.

Alistair.  He's a lot like me in some ways, and I just can't see myself not being friends with him.

Iron Bull.  He's honest, funny, loyal, and a good friend.  Definitely going to be friends with him.

Anders (Awakening).  He's like Alistair, just more experienced with the world as a whole.

Fenris.  Aside from his distrust of mages, I find myself getting along with him really well.  I'd try to avoid topics involving mages for the most part, though.

Cole.  He's like the little brother I never had.

Merrill.  She's like the little sister I never had.

Isabela.  She's basically a female pirate version of my dad, so I'll definitely get along with her.

Bethany.  It'd actually be more than just friendship...

Zevran.  Similar reasons as with Isabela.

Oghren.  He's hilarious!

Shale.  Do I really need an explanation?

Dorian.  He's awesome.

Dog.  I'm a dog person, what can I say?

Aveline.  While we may disagree on court-enforced justice vs. personally-enforced justice, I think we'd be pretty good friends for the most part.

Blackwall.  idk why, I just think we'd be good friends.  Probably because I'm pro-Warden.

Solas.  I'm a big elf fan, so yeah.

Sigrun.  I can relate to her in some ways and she's also pretty friendly and funny.

Justice (Awakening).  I find myself agreeing with him a lot.

Nathaniel.  He's a good friend, if a bit slow to trust.

Josephine.  She's friendly, if a bit.... finicky.

Acquaintances:

Sten.  I don't see myself becoming friends with him, but I would like talking with him from time to time.

Sera.  While I think she's pretty funny, she just refuses to actually think, which is a real hang-up for me.  Not friends, but not quite rivals either.

Wynne.  She's kind of grandmotherly, but also fairly pro-Circle, which conflicts with my views on the Circle.  On the whole, though, I think we'd get along, for the most part.

Morrigan.  She's too 'ice queen' for me, but I think we'd get along most of the time.  I can see myself messing with her from time to time just to get her annoyed, though.

Velanna.  I'd actually just keep my distance from her, tbh.

Cassandra.  Pretty sure that we wouldn't get to the friendship stage, but we'd probably get along.

Leliana.  She's too girly for my tastes in DA:O, and she's too much on the cold and calculating side in DA:I for my tastes as well.  Acquaintances at best.

Vivienne. While I disagree with her pro-Circle views, I like that her reasoning isn't just the usual 'mages are dangerous' BS.  It'd be interesting talking with her, at least.

Seb.  He's boring, so I wouldn't really talk to him much.

Cullen.  He's pretty reasonable in DA:I, so I'd probably get along with him.

Rivals:

Anders (DA2).  He's way too serious and depressing in DA2, not to mention that he nearly constantly bashes on Merrill, which really gets on my nerves.  I'm sure that I would end up punching him at some point.

Carver.  He's annoying and so damn focused on making a name for himself that he actually gets upset with you if you help him out.  Wouldn't get along with him.

Loghain.  If he ended up becoming a Warden, then I probably wouldn't get along with him.  I mean, he was the main chaos of the civil war, and his obsession with Orlais is just... idk, ridiculous.

So, basically, I'd get along with pretty much everyone and only clash with a couple people.

Dorian: Definitely. I like being with people who know how to take it easy and have fun, but also serious and contemplative. I call it a healthy mix.

Varric: Yes please

Sera; We'd have aloot of fundamental differences. But she is close in age, and easily appeals to the easy-going, more goofy side of me. I'd definitely appreciate her company in a place like the Inquisition.

Cassandra: She is more than 10 years my senior and is very religious, which would make bonding initially slightly less effortless. But in terms of personality and philosophies, we have alot in common. And I'd be eager to bond over romantic poetry and smutty literature with her

Blackwall: He's pretty funny and really chill. At first, he'd come off as too much of a somber old war veteran to me, but we'd probably get along just fine after a drink or two.

Vivienne: Not really. I have a great deal of respect for her, and at most I may share a mentor/student relationship with her, but we differ too much in personalitiy and philosophy.

Solas: As a history buff type of nerd, I would really enjoy getting to know him and having chats, and I appreciate his principles and calm personality. But he is very mysterious, a bit tightly wound up and removed from society. I doubt I'd be particularly close to him.

Iron Bull: Lol, of course. He knows how to have fun and be rowdy. I like having those kind of friends here and there.

Josephine: Definitely. I imagine she would become a big sister type of figure to me

Cullen: I'd probably be intimidated by the uniform at first, but I'd warm up to his sincerity. I have a fair amount of similarities and differences with his personality, and as a lover of board games and quiet 1-on-1 conversations, I imagine I'd often try to pry him away from his workaholicism for a game of chess, and we'd share fun stories about our siblings.

Leliana: Like Cassandra, she's alot older and very religious, and combined with her ruthlessness, becoming close to her would be difficult. But oh man, we'd bond over shooooooes and fashion so hard.

A lot of the rivals are people i would normally avoid in general, so technically rival isnt the right word, as i would never have walked up and introduced myself in the first place.
