Thnx for the explanation! I'll try it out and experiment with it tomorrow ^^

Edit: oops I meant that Instagram-y washed-out purple tint filter featured in the better colors preset (can also be seen in your screenshot)

Alright, I got dai mod manager, dai cinematic tools & sweetfx up and running. Some hair mods still won't show up, but at least I'm happy with the long hair mod for now... idk what I think about sweetfx though, most presents are overly agressively contrasted/saturated, and the one I chose "Better Colors Preset" (https://sfx.thelazy....es/preset/2717/) is barely noticeable and does not feature that tasteful "vignette" featured in the author's screenshots.

This is the one I've always used:

https://sfx.thelazy....es/preset/2635/

I've tweaked it a little bit for my own use, but it's still pretty close.

This is a little issue, but it's been bothering me for the last couple weeks, so I thought I'd post in this thread and see if someone might have some advice! I've been messing with the dof settings in cinematic tools and trying to achieve the bokeh that I see many people getting in their screenshots. I've seen people post their settings for it/explain how they got it, but for some reason when I try to get the effect, the effects/lights become vaguely square, not rounded.

[spoiler for large image]
Spoiler

I thought this might just be because I had made the blur factor too high, but when I turn settings lower, everything just becomes blurred (although more circular, not the look I'm going for!)

Spoiler

if anyone has any advice I would be thrilled to hear it, because I've been messing around with the dof to no avail for quite a while now haha!

Try to use different Blur Filter -  Gaussian 15px blurs the picture the most, and Gaussian 3 px the least (this one is smoother, and less noticeable). Hope this helps

Thank you for your suggestion, Rannah! I wish it worked but sadly even the 3 and 5px blur filters have the same problem--the squares are just smaller. It's very strange!

I always use Sprite as the blur filter as it gives more of a "SLR camera" feel. I also almost never go above a blur factor of 2 and max blur of 1 because color transitions do not render well when using super-high resolutions. If you see it, you'll know what I'm talking about.

In this case try to lower the amount of Blur Filter and Maximum Blur to 1-2  as well, it shall be not so  "ugly"

Thank you both for the advice--I lowered blur factor/max blur and turned the filter to the lowest setting, and the results are quite a bit better! I also do put blur filter on Sprite, but I don't think I see a difference between that and Simple when I pick one or the other

I'm going to revive this thread after a month, sorry.

Anyone else have problems with DAI Cinematic Tools? Hotkeys are not working. I've tried... well, a lot of things. Restarting computer, returning to patch 7, changing batteries, unplugging and plugging back my keyboard (last two things proved my keyboard is working as it should), redownloading DAI Cinematic Tools, changing graphic settings...

Was this after updating to the latest release (from yesterday)?

I haven't had any problems with DA:I Cinematic Tools (still on the patch prior to yesterday), but I have problems with the ReShade framework. My game crashes almost every time right before the Bioware splash screen. I know it's ReShade as the game is 100% A-OK without it.

As a side question, has anybody actually gotten the "GUI Found" message with DAI Cinematic Tools? I've gotten it once (literally just once), and I can't figure out what I did to make that happen. When it found the GUI it actually loaded all color/lighting info into the tool so I could tweak from there. Every other time though, it doesn't load any scene information so I start from "0" values with all the tools. It's what I'm used to doing, but boy was it neat the one time it loaded all the scene info for me first.

Yes. Returning to patch 7 (I had backup) doesn't seem to help at all.

I had the same problem, and solved it by replacing all folders of the game by copies from a pre-patch game backup I keep exactly for occasions like this one.

Well, I don't have full backup, so it seems I'll have to stick with what I have. Lesson for the future.

Patch 8 changed a LOT of files, as far as I can tell. It broke mods, it broke the Cheat Engine banter trigger, and replaced a lot of files not just in the Update/Patch folder but also in the other DLC folders and in the main folder. I haven't upgraded myself, but my suspicion is (based on what I've seen around the web) is that something is changed which is fairly fundamental to the game, though I don't know what. One thing I haven't seen yet: does the DragonAgeInquisition.exe version/modified date change with Patch 8? Rascoth, what is the Last Modified date of your DragonAgeInquisition.exe file?

26 June.

At least you can force mods to work. Though I would give up all mods if only Flycam worked again.

Hmmm. Since the DAI Cinematic Tools is tied to the running process of the DragonAgeInquisition.exe file (much like Cheat Engine), that might indicate why DAI Cinematic Tools stopped working.

Dammit. Not fun.

Rascoth, want to be my guinea pig? I could make a copy of my .exe and put it in a location for you to download and you can see if it fixes the flycam issue.

Sure, why not. Let's try it. It's better than doing nothing.

I checked ReShade. It's working fine for me.

I got GUI Found a few times. One was today actually. It's not like I was happy to get it. After all there was nothing I could do with it.

Sending PM.

Seems nothing came out of it...

The cinematic tool no longer works with v109 executable because all the offsets have changed. Until the tool gets fixed, you must revert back to v108. I have provided instructions and more over HERE.

Thank you. I'll surely try that.

Quick announcement: Sunnie noticed that DAI Cinematic Tools has been upgraded to be compatible with Patch 8 and posted about it on the DAI Tools forum, so I thought I'd put it here. There's a couple of added features as well, though I don't know what they do yet, to be honest.

Link to download
New features:

Fixed to work with latest patch
Sig scan only done after new update
Added resolution scale to misc tab <---- *gasp* Could it be? SOMEONE TRY THIS OUT NOW
Added freeze time <----- ????? *gasp* I want to try that out now

Edit to add: The HUD toggle (DEL) key makes the game crash. I actually will use the console workaround (i'm ashamed to admit that I used the console because i didn't KNOW about the HUD toggle until recently *sigh*), but just wanted to let you know MelissaGT reported this problem elsewhere in the forum. Thanks, Melissa!

I still think I'll hold off on updating for now...but that "freeze time" feature is very interesting! Do you know if it works in cut scenes?

I don't know as I haven't gotten time to play with it in a cut scene, but I really want to find out!

Give me a second and I'll check it.

Edit: Timescale starts at 1. By dropping it to 0 you can stop cutscene. By increasing it, you can speed up cutscene.

Yes, stopping cut scenes in progress is epic! I've also got Patch 8 properly modded so things are back to normal for me, but better!

Just a quick heads up: the HUD Toggle bug has been fixed! Also, they made the Home key a hotkey for the Freeze Time.

Woot!

Is the mod manager still not working to make new merged patches?

Also, has anybody tried WBG with the new patch?
