Hey guys, so i was recently messing around with some settings in the audio and display options. After messing up the settings a bit, i decided to reset the options, not realizing that it would reset my difficulty to normal. I immediately loaded a save before i messed with the options and deleted the auto save in which I had lowered the difficulty to normal.

Does anyone know if I can still get the trophy for beating the game on nightmare without lowering the difficulty? Or am i gonna have to wait for another playthrough to get that?

Any help is appreciated, thanks guys.

Here's an easy way to test it:

Make a new character on Nightmare difficulty. The first time the game allows you to, make a save. Let's call this Save A.

Then, change the difficulty to Normal. Save again, let's call this Save B.

Now load your Save A. If the difficulty in it is still Nightmare without you changing it around, then you should be safe. Load your Save B too, to see if it stays normal. If it does, then the game clearly treats each save differently, so you should be safe.

well when i loaded a save prior to me changing it to normal, it was still on nightmare. i deleted the autosave that was created when i changed it to normal after i loaded the prior save

Well, if the difficulty is still on Nightmare without you changing it, then I am pretty much sure you're safe :)

Is there a nightmare guide or tips and tricks? I've been playing on Nightmare and I can't seem to get past the Hinterlands, those stupid rogue assassin ppl keep sneaking up and disappearing and killin my party with those sneaky flank attacks. Really pisses me off. Also that place with all the bandits (not the fort, but right before it) I can barely take out one guy before we're all dead.

I'm a mage and I always keep another mage in the party so we can rotate barrier casting but it still doesn't seem to help. Does anyone have any advice.

@Deanna: I would go Knight-Enchanter ASAP. That's actually what I've done with my mage this time around for my Nightmare run; it certainly helps to have Fade Cloak, Fade Step, etc. It can be a bit rough until you get your specialization.

I find that it helps to focus on non-combat quests first. Cast barrier (or if you're a rogue, stealth), then just high-tail it past any fighting to get to the object you need to get. I didn't even do the mercenary fortress or any of the level 12 stuff until after In Your Heart Shall Burn.

Also note that camps can be set up mid-combat (minus the ones in Emprise du Lion), so all you need to do is survive until you get to the camp location. Once a camp is set up, it creates a bubble of safety. For example, doing the bear claw quest is much easier if you set up the Hafter's Woods camp first, then snipe at bears from inside it.

Also, it helps massively if you craft up to t2 weapons and armor as soon as possible. Gear up your rogues first, since those have the biggest impact on your dps (and dead enemies do no damage), then work your way down the line. Once everyone has good weapons, craft t2 armor, again starting with the rogues, since they're very squishy early-game.

Thanks for the advice, I've thought about racing past groups of enemies until I'm about level 10 (currently at 7 or 8) but when I see enemies I have a overwhelming need to eliminate them :P guess I'll have to hold off on the big groups for awhile. The mages and templars fighting each other are no problem. It just seems to be the bandits and assassins that get me :/.

Still in the early stages so I've only been able to craft something for me and 2 other ppl, I should look into those schematics at Val Royeaux. And I was definitely gonna go Knight Enchanter. Its just getting there that's tricky lol. Again thanks for the help :)
