We know that what Solas wanted from Flemeth was Power. Power to pursue his specific goals which appear tied to the condition of the elves.

We also know Flemeth is an accomplished chess master. She knew what Solas wanted when he showed up seeking her power and she gave him something.

Now for the speculative part...

Solas did not get what he bargained for when he killed his old friend. I believe Flemeth gave him the soul of Urthemiel the old god.

I also believe she preserved her own essence (the godhood of Mythal) for Morrigan. This was what she was hiding away in the Eluvian when Solas arrived

Solas gasps in that epilogue scene. If the soul and Power of the old god Urthemiel has entered him, then who knows what will happen next?

Thoughts anyone??

I think this is it. Or things will twist and turn and we'd be completely debunked.

I'd love to see what happens next with Kieran. Either he'll inherit Mythal, or Morrigan. Personally I'd like to see Kieran vs Solas. The purpose of finding Morrigan, in Flemeth's mind, was to find Kieran.

In my first playthrough, Kieran didn't exist.  So if the Warden dies Solas will be weaker because Solas only had Flemeth's power and not the Old God's as well?  That would be a neat trick on Bioware's part if Solas is the big bad.  You thought having a god kid with Morrigan and surviving the blight was a good idea?  Wrong! Now the Dread Wolf is even stronger because you wanted to cheat death in the first game.  Thanks a lot "Hero".

Who says he's not part of the plot any longer? He just is not the one who weighs in the results any more.

Which is basically what I said. Because he technically doesn't exist in the playthroughs of other people, and because many also sacrificed their warden or romanced someone other than Morrigan, he can't have anything more than cursory appearances and cameos now, especially considering Mythal's power wasn't meant for him in the first place. He's just a kid that can live a normal life now. It's nice that they did at least do it gracefully.

I'm not convinced that Solas' "people" are elves, at least not in the sense we think they are.

Throughout the game he keeps saying "my people" while consistently being at odds with anything connecting him to elves, apparent through various conversations. I believe Solas' people are spirits, or more specifically, the immortal beings of old. Ironically, unless I'm completely inferring too much, which is completely likely, in the last scene with Flemeth, Solas says he needs to help "the people" which I think now refers possibly to mortals.

Perhaps, the next installment, DLC or more, will have more of a immortal/mortal slant. Or, perhaps, I'm paying way too much attention to the English language and the nuanced use of adjectives/determiners. Who knows?

Personally, I still feel it's fairly ambiguous.

Did Fen'harel steal Mythal's essence, or did Mythal steal Fen'harel's vessel?

Does it even matter?  Are Mythal and Fen'harel now joined into one being with goals and motivations mixed between the two?

I wasn't sure either, but when I saw it a second time, one line Solas said stuck with me. It's where he was like "I'm sorry, it should be me, but the People need me" which to me made it sounds like he was saying he should be the one to lose his...body or whatever it is Flemeth is giving up exactly, and Flemeth seemed to agree with him and to my eye it looked like she let herself die (or whatever that was o_o) to give Solas power. Could totally be wrong and the devs are just screwing with up :P but that's how it at least looked to me

Dev notes confirm that Solas does in fact take Mythal's power - but not before she places some in the eluvian for Morrigan to find.

Frankly speaking Flemeth is too much of a chessmaster to be giving up everything for free.

She has to be getting something out of this deal...I just dont see it

How can she let herself die without getting the vengance she wanted so badly??

I dont understand

At this point I am hanging my hopes on her being smart enough to outwit Fen Harel

Ooh I'd heard that bandied around on some other threads....any ideas where they found that? The implications of that are cool (and please me greatly to think that Solas is still more or less Solas and not Flemeth in my favorite bald elf XD)

They datamined the game. I'm sure someone can provide a link.

Well he is the trickster god :D but it wouldn't surprise me if she left some of her essence or something in the Eluvian (as some people are suggesting) for Morrigan to find. In faaaaaact, if you go the route of the god child, she takes the old soul yes? What if she gave the old soul to Solas instead of her soul (would he be able to tell the difference or would it be just raw power? Who knows!)

Dancing Druid:  Sorry, my office PC doesn't use the quote function properly.

I think that Solas is in fact an elf, but that his people are not the Dalish, an elven culture with most of it's history absent and who purport to be 'supporting the old ways' when they're not.  HIs people are the Elvhen, the ancient, immortal elves of which there are precious few left.  Abelas was the first time in the DA series (outside of Solas of course) that we've actually seen an ancient, immortal elf.  With regard to saving the people, I think that Solas is still trying to recover the world and put his elven brethren back on the map, as they've largely been relegated to nomads, thieves, slaves and generally poverty stricken.  The greatness of his people is gone and the first step to even begin restoring that, apparently in his mind, is to release the others.

Or you could go completely out of the norm and follow the belief that Fen'Harel is actually 'The Maker'.  Think I saw that online somewhere!  As far as I'm aware he is the only Elven God who does not have a tattoo supporting him (though it is stated in Codex that no one would want to have one supporting him due to his treachery), the game already states clearly that the information we and the Dalish have been given about ancient elven culture is largely incorrect, including Fen'Harel's reason for locking the other gods away.  He is noble and rebellious but not a trickster.  Either way, really hope that DLC or the next instalment of the series (hope there is a next one), focuses heavily on the ancient elves, Dalish culture and real elven history.
