Is it just me or is the soundtrack of Dragon Age Origins just......Amazing! Sure the main theme of 3 is good but I feel that really DA 2 and 3 are lacking in memorable songs like I am the one, camp, circle of magi. And listening to the companions tales by the camp just made DAO so memorable.

Personally I think Da2 had the best soundtrack out of all three games. Mage pride is still the best song in the franchise for me.

Mm...they're very different! I listen to all three when I drive, so I've had a chance to refamiliarize myself with them  :D

Origins had much more atmosphere to me. This was both good and bad, in that it made certain songs absolutely entrenched in memory of the places attached. So if I listened to certain songs, I inevitably remembered the areas where I'd first heard it. So it's never been my favorite album to listen to casually, but I definitely though it was fantastic in game.

Dragon Age II had one of the more fun soundtracks! I love the music that plays in battle, and the tavern music was just a lot of fun. Atmospheric, but vague and general enough that it never distracted from the main purpose (which was just right!). And it even had some beautiful gems in it, such as Fenris' theme, and Rogue Heart, I believe it was called (whatever played with the Keeper came to the alienage, anyhow).

Dragon Age Inquisition feels more varied to me than the other two however. There are a few songs that I'm whatever about, but some are absolutely gorgeous! The one that plays primarily when you're in the Emerald Graves (with the string instrumental), and occasionally in other places, is practically chilling! And Corypheus' theme is very exciting. One thing I really liked about it was how different it was - and how obvious that difference was when they played Hawke's home theme when we first met Hawke :D that was such a great moment.

Is strawberry icecream better than chocolate?

I mean. There are obviously too many individual factors in each one of us to allow anybody to quantify or state anything about which soundtrack is better. Music is magic in the sense that it is very easy to connect things to it. If you passed through special moments where you often used to listen to certain music, it will probably bring back those moments to you if you listen to those tracks many years after the particular event.  :)

I found DAI to be so utterly boring (even if the environments are purely fantastic) that I reinstalled BG2 and started to play the game again. Last time I did that was over 10 years ago and immediately the soundtrack of the game brought back wonderful memories to me about things I lived through back then.

Does that mean the BG2 soundtrack is better than the DAI one? No. It simply means that I have special memories connected to it. It is exactly this personal aspect that always will make it impossible to state anything about which soundtrack is "better" when having two to select from.  ;)

Taken in their entirety, the bard songs push Inquisition to the top handily, I think. But the score? I'd give that to Origins, but not by a huge margin.

But, on the other hand... I Am The One (Dark Fantasy Version) might be one of the best things ever.

Inquisition has good music problem is IT NEVER FUKING PLAYS. Music is needed while exploring to set the mood and that was one thing skyrim got bang on right. While inquisition definitely fails on that department, you want exploration then also provide music to set the atmosphere. Im not a fan of the no music approach.

No clue. I only get music during cutscenes.

Yes. Origin music still rules. No competition there.

The DAI soundtrack would be better if it actually played during the game.

ive got to admit one of the weaker things of the game is the soundtrack....don't get me wrong, its a good soundtrack.but, compared to the first 2 its not as good.

they were both haunting  and fit in with the game.but this one isn't anything like that.

DA2 was so bland. Origins was nice and had that ethereal feel to it, that helped give a sense that you were on a world-saving journey.

Inquisition though, takes the cake for being the most consistent and iconic one. I think you can accuse both Inquisition and origins of being LoTR wannabes but I felt that Inquisition was the most memorable and likeable one.

The only big downside to Inquisition is the Exalted Plains music. It makes me nauseous.

The soundtrack is far from terrible, but I think the Baldur's Gate trilogy and Dragon Age: Origins had much better soundtracks.

DA:I soundtrack sucks. Another reason why Bioware failed IMO.

DA:I has a great soundtrack.

But when I access the DA:Keep and the music from DA:O's party camp plays in the background I get chills down my spine.
