I apologise if this has been already made a topic, or talked to death about, or repeatedly discussed in other threads. I'm new to forums and the fandom, please be gentle with me! I've had this idea for so long and Inquisition pretty much cemented this idea in my head for me.

The only thing I've read is The Silent Grove and all other knowledge I know is from lurking and spending too much time on DA wiki. Silent Grove introduces High Dragons and the Magrallen to us, which is a blood magic devise that greatly amplifies the power of dreamers.

What I think is that red lyrium is made from the blood of High Dragons, which would explain its really weird nature. How does this tie in with Elven lore? The primeval thaig worshipped foreign deities and it was covered in magic, which hints to at least some kind of relationship with ancient elves and dwarves. My guess is that some of the Elvhen (I’ll use this term to refer to the Immortal Elves) went underground to practice blood magic with a High Dragon. It could possibly even be one or all of the Forgotten Ones/Creators. Those archdemons were put down there by something, surely. They all cutely had their own little thaig. But because the Elvhen knew how to properly manipulate this kind of magic, and they were very very powerful to begin with, this worked out completely fine for them. And may have even led to the forming of the Eluvian Crossroads in some way (pure speculation, but I find it an interesting possibility).

I also think that the Creators each had a High Dragon that they called their own or had a part of themselves inside. Just like Corypheus and the red lyrium dragon (lol did Solas teach him this omg Solas). But there are only seven Old Gods? Maybe the magisters didn’t need the others. Or they were already killed during the Elvhen civil war. Why do I think the Old Gods are connected to the Elven Pantheon? I’m sure this theory is not new, but what cemented the idea for me was the Astrariums. There are twelve altogether, nine for the Creators and three for the Forgotten Ones. Their codexes all reference an Old God or an Elven God. It adds up, to me.

Anyway, when Fen’harel sealed away the Elvhen Gods, they were still able to communicate to the living through their connection with the High Dragons. It’s interesting that Mythal was the only one who was not “sealed”. Maybe her murder was the catalyst of the civil war, and/or what made Fen’harel seal them away (to await a better future but no). In any case, this connection allowed “Dumat” to enter the dreams of the Tevinter magisters, he sought the most powerful Dreamers he could find to teach them blood magic. He whispered lies about the Black City and told them how to use the Magrallens with the High Dragons in one of the old thaigs. Of course, this didn’t work at all. They were probably not powerful enough to overcome the magic in the Black City. So they were thrown out and tainted by the red lyrium (maybe they ingested the stuff too, that’s never healthy).

I think the reason the Blight began is because mortals/humans came into contact with red lyrium. I also think that the reason Corypheus, and to that branch, the magisters are immune to the Calling is because they drank High Dragon blood. Now, I don’t think the magisters went to the thaigs alone, they surely must have brought along an entourage and they were the first darkspawn + broodmothers (the entourage unfortunately did not drink High Dragon blood, only cool magisters can drink the blood of their Gods).

And why do I believe Corypheus is telling the truth and he’s just not insane? Because of the existence of this Codex entry “A Different Kind of Darkspawn” talking about three ‘kingly-dressed darkspawn, three times the height of dwarves arguing about a black city until one ran off and one killed the other and ate him’. So now we know that at least one of the old magisters got eaten. Thanks. If that is not Bioware throwing lore candy at us, I don’t even want to know. When I read this, I was screaming inside.

I also think that the Maker is a powerful spirit of Creation and he was friends with the Elvhen (like Cole). Andraste could have gone two ways- 1) this Spirit really did visit her and started ranting about the creation of the Blight or 2) it was Mythal all along. Either way, I don’t think her story is particularly relevant with the new direction Bioware has chosen to take the lore to (i could be totally wrong tho). Her story, in my mind, finished with the Temple of Sacred Ashes and the only thing worth questioning is will we ever see the Maker?

Wow, that was long! Thanks for anyone who actually read to the end!
