I never use sprint. Since we are handcuffed to only have only 4 abilities, I can't justify using sprint as one of those 4 just in case I'm fighting demons.

If DA:I is a game of the year, than this post might as well be a post of the year I guess...

Is this a joke going way over my head?
Ambush is a physical attack. It doesnt deal spirit damage.
Well, the few times i used a spirit potion his ambush attack was only taking about a quarter of my life a way.
It never occured to me, but maybe all the rage against DC is because people use potions, when they should be using this:

Ah, the fear attack. AoE shutdown and AoE damage in the end sequence. Bonus points if it goes straight through the three screams in milliseconds and deals the damage right away. It's a game developers way to equip a rubber long sleeved glove and tell the player to bend over.

Ambush attack is physical. No spirit damage whatsoever. Spirit resistance tonic does nothing to reduce its damage.
I thought so too, but some people say it can reduce the damage by 50 or even 65%, so maybe it does deal both kinds of damage.

You're both wrong.
It's both spirit and physical
His uppercut when it connects is physical however if you're on the ground where the AoE glyph is you will take spirit damage.
Can you screenshot this glyph and point it out to me with MSpaint? Ideally with damage numbers. I want to see it. Spirit Tonic is still very worth taking regardless, due to wraiths and DC's ranged attack. I love spirit resistence.

It's the gigantic glowing circle that appears when he pops up, hard to miss
A weird thing happened to me recently, and I figured I'd post it in whatever Demon Commander thread is currently on the front page.
People say he always super uppercuts the player highest on the threat list, but he just did it to me while I was out slaying adds and hadn't touched him. He was at half health, and all my teammates were alive. So either he is very protective of his kind, or there is a random element to it. Either way, "let the tank tank him and the rest get the adds" is not rock-solid advice.

Was someone actually tanking though? I find when someone can't tank him he just goes all over the ****ing place. I can't say any time I have had him locked down that anyone pulled agro off me.

Well me and another reaver were the warriors, so no one with a taunt or anything since not many reavers have Challenge.
But I have to assume since he was heavily damaged and I hadn't touched him that I was not on the top of the threat list. You mean maybe he bounces around people within a certain threat range?
It could be, but I don't even really know how threat works in this game. Maybe enemies can tell who is the biggest threat by how much damage in general during a specific encounter someone does? Anyone here able to give us a crash course on how the threat works in this game?

Working as intended.
Just keep running like forest gump. He wont catch you if you just keep running. Trust me!

If the DC wasn't being taunted then he might switch targets. As you kill more and more enemies you move up the threat list. For example, this person killed one add within the last 30seconds, you have a running kill streak of 7, you would be higher on the threat list. Also as he teleports from one spot to the next it might be that you have the highest threat near him, so he switches to you. Today when I was soloing for the weekend challenge on my lego, there would be times where the DC would go under to do his spirit bolt thing, he'd lose sight of me, and then just sit somewhere till I went to find him or threw off a counterstrike.

I am already treading lightly when going out of the house for shopping because the Demon Commander could pop out under me without any warning...
Wait, what is this "out of the house" you speak of?
