Close one between DAI and Origins, both are fantastic. I really enjoyed the open world of Inquisition which is one thing in Origins I always wished there was more of.

Overall I think I prefer Inquisition more.

I have a feeling that this poll is not going to turn out well in DA2's favor.....

What is DA2? DAI is DA2, oh you mean that DA2, we dont speak of it here..

Out of fairness, I will hold off on participating in the poll until I actually finished inquisition but I am 99% sure it's going to be Origins regardless. I may not like the pause-and-order combat mechanics that much but in terms of art and story-telling, Origins is simply me of the best games ever made. I have not felt the urge to write a salute post to the devs, simply for the art and the writing.

I voted for Origins--which is pretty much my favorite game of all time-- but inquisition isn't that far behind in my book. Definitely my GotY

I voted for Origins although it`s a close tie between Origins and DAI (i also enjoyed DA2 but it`s my least favorite out of the 3). Loved the story and the characters of both games but in the end i felt more connected with DAO companions.

I voted for DA2...objectively DAO and DAI are better games, but despite the flaws, 2 was my favorite with the most playthroughs so far, for the riskier and more provocative story, and favorite protagonist.

That's a really hard decision between DAI and DAO... each of those games has a few things I value highly which the other one hasn't got in equal measure. Voted DAI in the end to counter the rose-colored glasses of nostalgia.

Too bad about DA2. Its story was really good excepting the end, and I love my Hawkes. Still, too many subpar elements and a few outright disastrous ones.

I voted Origins because I felt everything worked as one cohesive game experience. Its not perfect by any stretch and would struggle to make it into my top games of all time list, but i felt like everything about it was all pulling in the same direction (like Mass Effect 1, even with all its terrible flaws).

DAI is great fun but the story isnt as solid and i just think its a little more disjointed, even if i do like the new grand open areas and the amount of time and detail.

DAII.... well there was a core of a half decent game lost in there somewhere. Mainly though i just consoled myself with the characters as they were as on form as usual at least.

There usually aren't right or wrong answers with these types of question, but the people that voted for the game of which we do not speak are definetly wrong.

  • Storywise: Inquisition and Origin, ex-aequo.

  • Graphics&sound: Inquisition, hands down, the advantage of time shows.

  • Controls&Combat: DA2, without the jumping ennemies (like in the DLCs, perfect).

  • Story that could have been: DA2.  The overall story was refreshing.  You're not fighting to save the world from destruction, you're not a noble rebel or even trying to preserve order, you're out there to save your skin and that of your family.  I found that strangely refreshing.  That you got stuck with something major, even if trying to keep a certain balance was also great.  However... Many things were rushed, skipped over, resolved too quickly, not enough choices that matters, etc, etc.  Had the game had benefited from 1-2 more years of development, I think it would have been great.  Alas, even the Mark of the Assassin DLC felt a little rushed.

  • Party banter: DA2.   C'mon.  DA2 with Isabella and Aveline?  "Why do you make me doubt like that?"  "Darling, if you stick your thumb up his ass, I win".  And the constant "Shut up, ******".   Priceless :P   Inquisition was great too, the dialogues between Varric and Cassandra were extremely funny.  Unfortunately, I spent many hrs not hearing anything so I can't rank it first.  DA:O had Oghren who was really funny, the others were boring.  Isabella was my favorite character of all :)

  • Ennemies, big baddy: DA:I.  The Darkspawn are very impersonal.  Yes, they are evil, like rats&ants are evil: they are numerous, they eat/destroy everything on their path, but they don't do it out of lust for power, they do it because it's their nature, simply.  Corypheus and those who follow him all made the same choice and had to face the consequences: they searched for more power, they lusted over it and got punished with deformities and death for many of their followerds.  Sorta like Branka in DA:O.

Of course they are. (in DAI)

I would never deny DAI has some serious flaws :X  (looking at you vomit inducing hair).

I just like them despite em.

Inquisition. I liked Origins but it felt dated and apart from characterization and a few twists on common tropes in high fantasy, it didn't really catch me as that unique. There are some wonderful moments I do remember in it. DA 2 had a more contained -pun intended - story but I think it had more nuance to it than the melodrama of the first. Inquisition isn't perfect and has a ton of mmo throwaway quests, but I finally got the sense I was in Thedas and not medieval Europe - although the bards singing in French in Orlais still gets to me. The hidden quests they did have though were fun.

Each game has some things I really like and things I don't really like, but as a whole (gameplay, story, characters, balance, size), it goes to Origins.  I like the more personal story in 2 and the friendship/rivalry system.  Inquisition: I like crafting items (though that needs work), having areas that contain set leveled enemies, more ambiguous dialogue wheel and the more complex characters.
