How do you get to see Alistair?

I did the mage side quest in first PT, and only saw him after the fight, basically asking me what to do with Fiona and the rebel mages; after that nothing aside a war table mission.

Now on this PT, I'm siding with templars, and would love to have more interaction with him; he was my fave from DAO, with all his self-deprecating, and his reactions to different dialogues (plus the voice actor really conveys emotions well).  I'm thinking he would appear during the Warden fight, but in my first PT there wasn't even a hint of him being implicated in any way.

In my first PT I used my keep import (put Alistair as king, not married), and for this one I used the default world state.

Any help would be appreciated.

In your first PT he was king so he couldn't be Warden, if you are siding with Templars the only way to see him, I think, is to make him Warden, not king.

He was a warden in my play through.

If you keep him as a warden, you get way more dialogue with him and interaction with him.

Literally going to always keep him as a Warden because it produces what felt like to me to be the only difficult, story driven choice of the entire game.

I think...that you would have needed to create a custom world where he survived but didn't become a drooling alcoholic.  So basically don't recruit Loghain, but don't put Alistair forward for King.  Have the b*tch rule or have your human noble rule with the b*tch.  Anyone who knows better, correct me if I'm wrong!

Personally I prefer my Warden to remain a Warden and...

Alistair as Warden even if it's only to hear his reaction to the demon's taunting.

If he is the king and you sided with mages you only see him at the end of in hushed whispers mission. Otherwise he has to be a Warden to full appearance.

I've triggered the all too brief cameo with King Alistair and Queen Anora at Redcliffe after recruiting the mages. I've entered into the Fade alongside Hawke (both male & female) with either Stroud or Loghain. The latter was my favorite. Currently I have another Hawke and Warden Alistair in the queue awaiting me in Crestwood.

It all depends on how you set your imported world state?

After Adamant, as the Inquisitor and friends get sucked into the Fade, the inevitable choice of who covers the retreat through the rift would have been made even more "EPIC" had either Warden Bethany, or Warden Carver been in the mix too. Imagine how the verbal exchange between Hawke and his Warden sibling could have gone?

I'm not certain Carver would survive the demon's taunting.

The most you get to see Alistair is if you let him stay a Warden. If he's a king he only gets a brief cameo (I think only if you choose the mages?)

Died laughing. Was worth having a warden Alistair for that line. Al, you crack me up.

I've actually yet to do a playthrough with Warden Alistair but that is going to be a tough choice. Loghain actually made me feel conflicted a little, but Stroud? Pfff
