Hey everyone! I just installed the new Radeon drivers and low and behold everything is running fine now!

I am hoping the same goes for people having these issues on Nvidia cards. Maybe it is all driver related? I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope Nvidia comes out with a new driver soon though they tend to be pretty slow with that at times...

I also turned the XMP memory profile back on (which was the first thing I disabled) and it's still been stable. I have 12GB of RAM so I think people who are taking memory out of their system may be chasing a red herring.
I continue to believe that the game is hitting some issue somewhere in drivers or DirectX and it's hard to think nobody saw this during testing.
OTOH there's a seeming 100% reproducible lockup bug in the mining game which some people hit almost straightaway. Sadly, I think it's safe to say that testing this game on PC wasn't much of a priority.

After updated the driver, try setting resolution to max, and I can get past those areas that gave me a crash before.
However in certain instances, when I use power, the game sort of crashing, and the catalyst vpu recovery will pop up, but then I can always continue the game afterwards without rebooting the game.
Guess, I'm going to put the game on hold again, not taking chances damaging my cards.

I wonder why this is int working for everyone. Um, so its not entirely a driver issue.

As for me, I've tried uninstalling the old drivers, installing the new catalyst 10.2 drivers and changing resolution and settings to the lowest. No luck yet, the game
crashes, stutters and gives the error message: "Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has succesfully recovered."

Thank you very much, swlotr. While ME2 is still not running as perfect as before, I have at least been able now to finish the game. So thanks again!swlotr wrote...
To turn on the kernel debugger u have to: go to start menu, type in "cmd", open it by right-clicking and choosing "Run as adminstrator", write: bcdedit -debug on, press enter and reboot. That's it.

Ahh well there's still hope.
What i've tried and kind of worked for me was using the task manager to turn off everything but the essential processes and using Tuneup Utilities' Turbo Mode (which temporarily disables updates unscheduled processes anti-virus and such).
Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't, but i have no idea what else to do, this way i have a strong chance of playing for more than 2 hours.
Now i'm currently trying Jed Q's tip for nvidia users:

Cheers!

I found that allot of games using UE3 have a problem with newer nvidia drivers, so what i did is revert back to version 186 of the driver, after that i decided to update back to 196 BETA without using Driver Sweeper.
After that i checked my hardware for issues using varied applications, and all showed me that there was nothing wrong, so i decided to install 3D Mark Vantage and see how my hardware performs, during the installation i noticed that 3D Mark was updating C++ and allot of directx dlls, i thought "ahh well, this can't make much difference", but it did, dunno exactly what, but my game doesn't crash anymore (nor BSOD).
I have been playing for 6 hours straight with only minor hiccups from high CPU usage (96-100%).
I do believe that a certain Windows 7 process conflicts with my audio driver or game (Windows Audio Device Graph Isolation), it always has a high CPU usage (high for a process which basically does nothing 20-26 %).
Anyway during my searches in the BSOD matter found a piece of information which might come in handy to some:

Cheers, and i hope i shed some light in this matter, good luck!

Ugh...was doing really well all day. No crashes, until I decided to do the Tali mission...crashes every 10 minutes there. Zulu, let me know if you have tried this mission and been able to do it without crashing.
You mean the recruitment mission? I played it last night, no problems.
Thats right like Warrenk95, I also installed the latest directx drivers. Have you tried that Thornbreaker?
