Mromson, go back in this thread a little to read my earlier posts. To sum up, this error doesn't necessarily mean there is a problem with the card. (heat or otherwise)
Pardon my ignorance - but could you perhaps quote the implied solutions? Far as I could see there was nothing that could remedy my problem. It started with Mass Effect 2 (one full graphic crash here, one full graphic crash there) until the monitor started losing signal while playing ME2. However, now the Monitor will lose signal for a few seconds after merely around 1min of booting up ANY game. Watching video, etc. still works fine, but anything beyond that is completely out of the picture.

I have tried various graphic settings in both ATI's CCC and in-game, no difference. Have also tried disabling various start up programs and services, no difference. Not overclocking at all however I'm pretty sure my graphics card is from the factory.
Specs:
Phenom x4 9850 Black Edition
ASUS EAH3870x2 1GB
ASUS M3A32-MVP
4GB RAM
X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty
Windows Vista Ultimate x64
All latest drivers intsalled
After reading through most of these post I also suspect overheating.

When the crash first happened I thought that my GPU went bad. First screen would get a blue sorta of filter effect to it then would go black. When I rebooted my PC I had no display, I couldhear the beep meaning that it clear BIOS check fine but no dipslay. After some monkeying around I got it to boot up with display. Rolled back drivers started playing ME2. Crash! Rebooted ok, updated rivers to newest beta release, started playing some other games with no problem. Started up ME2, played for a bit then crash AGAIN!! Core temp is normal.
This is a problem with ME2 and not our systems. I never had this problem but I bought a hard copy of ME1 and not through STEAM. I find the fact that their has been no official recognition of this problem nor has anyone from Bioware posted on this thread to be very troubling. I wonder if this was a problem with the 360 version of the game if they would respond faster.
I'm thinking of updating my GPU in the few months. But Not till my birthday in April at the earliest. I hope I dont have to shelve ME2 till then.

I was getting the same error, about 5 to 10 min of play then bam, no signal from the graphics card. I remembered having a similar issue with ME1 that got better while playing in windowed mode instead of fullscreen. Hasn't done it since. I know, not much on the technical side for a fix, but it worked for me, might wanna give it a try.

Windowed mode doesn't help for me. Only that the driver seems to recover - yet it only stops crashing after the windowed game goes "Black". It has something to do with DirectX. It would appear that it's the GPU, but it could easily be DirectX itself, however unlikely.

I doubt its Direct X.If your able to play other games its not DirectX.
This is just a suspicion but I wonder if ME2 is messing. And by messing up I mean completely FUBARing GPU drivers.
I think the death of my old GPU might have been coincidently timed with ME2 crashing. But then again coincidence is nothing. Maybe later tonight I'll feel brave and start up ME2. I'm really upset that no one from Bioware has acknowledged this problem.

Now it happens the moment I start ME2.
I can't start ANY 3d game now without my computer crashing.
Has ME2 fried my graphics card? Is there a fix?

I think ME2 is severaly messing up GPU drivers. I had a similar experince with my 8800GTS. Worked fine play Me2 fine for a few days then boom ME2 starts crashing then GPU stops putting out video. I got it to put out video again by removing the card from the mother board and booting the PC up without the card in. Then turing it off reinserting card and it booted up just fine. But then died again after starting ME2 again a few hours later.
I just gave up and bought a Radeon 5700 at that point. So try booting up the computer sans GPU, the reinserting it.
