Having same issue with Mass Effect 2 and 1, have any of you looked at the event viewer to see if the crash error is being listed under applications? Use the event ID in a google search and see if it brings up any suggestions, if not I would put in a bug report to Bioware and Ea with all the event and if any windows crash information attached. I will be doing that as well as sitting on hold for EA support to see what the deal is

I'm not running Steam, but I have had video crashing at a several points. The first happened to me right at the beginning when Shep goes to get Joker, the second is during standard planet scanning, and thislast time, was a cut scene landing at a site. I've got a GTX 280 I'm not over clocked, in fact I slowed all my settings down in hopes it would have helped, but no beuno. VERY discouraging when you spend 10 minuted scanning for material on a planet, 5000 EEZO, and crash! Grrrr. Just have to chalk it up to another patch wish.

Well, got through the Harbinger fight, and a bunch more after that, after setting up a 9" fan blasting into my open CPU case. Definitely a heat issue for me, although I feel like I shouldn't have to go to such extreme measures to fix it. Also seems to always happen in big outdoor battles. Hopefully this will be enough....

BTW, I am using a Radeon 4870, which supposedly runs pretty hot.

So I was able to play for several hours the first time, before I encountered this crash.

Now it happens the moment I start ME2.

I can't start ANY 3d game now without my computer crashing.

Has ME2 fried my graphics card? Is there a fix?

This is exactly my problem.

I just want to know they are working on it, so I can sit back relax, and know atleast that a fix is coming. Now for all I know. Bioware is just ignoring the problem and just roll around on cash.

I would also like to know how I could get this patch once it comes out. Through this social network like with Dragon age?

Oh shoot, my graphic card is behaving weirdly now too.  The moniter just blacked out for a minute or so, and just came back.  It never happened until I started playing ME2.

I can only get about 1 hour of gameplay tops, then it either starts crashing or my whole computer just shuts down.  Definitely an overheat problem, but I refuse to see how Mass Effect 2 could possibly be more taxing on my system then Crisis on high.

I suggest you stop playing ME2 immidiately.

I can no longer play ANY games that require DirectX rendering. I've been looking through error logs in hopes of finding the culplrit, and while heat is not excluded - irreversable dmg to the GPU is likely at this point. A few even more tech savy friends suggest that the issue has something to do with the driver not working properly with Windows and that the fault is on the DirectX side of the files. Reinstalling DirectX is inherently difficult.

My friends who have experienced simmilar problems suggested a full Windows reinstall.

Something is seeverly wrong with ME2! It appears to be messing up GPUs and DirectX!! Where the !@#$ is EA and Bioware?

It would appear some of us have lost GPUs to this game.

Hopefully someone from EA and Bioware will come around and show that they care about people that buy the game legally.

Sadly most DEVs put way more thought and care into the people who illegally download it.

I had the same Error logs after about 5h playtime. The display went colourful and the pc crashed. I reinstalled the game and I was able to play about 5h before my pc crashed again, but without the Error Logs :/
So I reinstalled the game again and I'm waiting for the next crash now.
But I have no problems with other games, no video errors or clues of a overheated video card...
I hope a graphic fix is coming soon, I don't want to reinstall the game again and again :/

I'm having some of the same problems (random crashes, etc) I managed to finish the first section without issue, but im in Omega now, and I get the crashes within 5 minutes.

Hasn't affected other games, thankfully

Same issues here..

Doesn't appear to be overheating issues

I can play forever as long as I don't start a conversation or cutscene..

Every conversation I have has about a 65% chance of locking the system up, driver crashes, and have to hard reboot the system..

Tried with multiple driver versions, fresh install of windows, multiple installs of ME2.

Starting to get really frustrated. The game worked fine until I got to a specific point. Then all the problems started.

Win7 64bit

Core i7 CPU, 6gb RAM

ATI Radeon 4890

it seems alot of people are having problems similar to mine. Im runnin the game on an ati X800 and when i start the game i can hear the sound, and when it gets to the menu i can see the cursor, but other than that i can see nothing. Is it even possible for me to play the game or should i just give up? And if i can has anybody found any simple solutions other than throwing more money at this game? Please and thanks

Same as Duelious, my game was fine until I got to omega, then it started to crach evrey 5 minutes, then I ran in window mode to be able to play for much longer, then after it crashed in that mode, I cant even start the game anymore.

the last crash blew my motherboard, it still works but network card and other on board things are busted. Not only am i out $50 from buying this game but it ruined a $3000 computer that is no longer in warranty. To say the least I am outraged
