Sera: "Are we gonna fight some dragons today?"
Nothing special, just my first ever screenshot with my new PC:
No ReShade (no anti-aliasing of any kind either), just the Cinematic Tools and WBG for hotsampling. Took it to 5k, I'm sure I could go higher but I didn't have the balls for it on my first attempt. I've not had nvidia before, and my laptop was limited in what control it could give me, so I'm not sure how this new card works yet. It'll take some time to learn how to optimise it.
Anyway, fun fun!
Broke my gaming mouse right before DAI finished installing. I'm lucky like that.
For no Reshade or AA that looks fantastic, what card/s are you using to get that quality without any of that running?. I currently have a single 980 and am still using a 1920 x 1080 24 inch monitor and i'm not too happy with what i'm currently getting, so i've built and ordered a new system but I was unsure whether to go for TitanX's in sli or 980TI's in sli. I went with the 980TI's and pre-ordered the PG27AQ ROG Swift 27" 3840x2160 but if the Titans would give me more then I may swap them over. £660 more is a fair bit though for what benchmarks seem to suggest is just 1-5 fps difference gamewise /shrug
I should point out I haven't built a new system just for taking pictures lol. I'm finding that a single 980 just isn't enough when cranking everything up to max in current games, especially once you start adding enb's and so on.
Also, amazing pictures everyone, i've only just gotten into hotsampling/ cinematic tools, I hope my frustrations with it eventually lead to at least one screenshot I can post in here lol
Well it took a little over 196 hours but I finally made it through the game plus all of the DLC with the dalish necromancer. My first character to get to the "end." Here are a few shots I took without being to spoilery in case there are people like me (until a couple hours ago) who haven't completed all of the DLC yet.
Frostback Basin
Lyrium
Toward the Eluvian
I have a video I made of all the screens I took. They did not add screenshots on the One until I was on my 3rd playthrough. I have to say I am a little embarrassed to put this here since all of the other screens look like works of art. They are amazing.
These are stunning, both composition and lighting. May I ask what reshade/etc. you're using for them?
EDIT: More on topic, one of the few screenies I've taken since I returned that I really like:

^Thanks, it's a custom Sweetfx 2.0 set made by myself long ago, but I'm currently on mobile and can't access my gaming pc, will send you a pastebin link when I get home (in a week or so), I have plans to switch to ReShade Framework version for more advanced effects too.
Also the majority of effects (DoF, color correction, etc) in my screenshots are achieved using Hattiwatti's cinematic tools, this way I can easily toggle between "screenshot mode" and normal gameplay, I suggest you mess around with it a bit, really powerful tool
. Those effects can be done within ReShade too, but you have to adjust settings for each separate scene so it might not worth the hassle.
*Edit* (I'm back!)
In-game gfx settings:

If your pc can handle it, I strongly suggest you use 4XMSAA and disable FXAA to get rid of blurry images.
Also I used resolutionscale 1.5 to get much sharper images, you can do this via in-game console as well as cinematic tools.

Omg omg omg. Yay. And 2.0 works on Win10, unlike 1.5. Looking forward to it!

does anyone have the previous version of the cinematic toolset hanging around still. I just downloaded the newest update and for some reason I cant get it to work on my machine. It would be the one right before the 21.01.16 update that I am looking for. Like a fool I deleted my zip of it. Thanks.

A kind tumblr user gifted it to me after I was having the same issue. Will pay it forward after work tonight, if no one else has stepped up by then ![]()

Thank you much. I would appreciate it greatly. ![]()
I have an older version (DAI_Cinematic_Tools_120815-cc4862), I'm not sure if Sarielle's is a newer version. If you would like I would be more than happy to give you a copy of what I have. Just let me know. ![]()
I sent it, the person who sent it to me said it was the next-to-current version? ![]()

Thank you for the offer but Sarielle sent me over the next to most recent version. I still can't figure out why the newest version isn't working for me. But the previous version still works great and now I have it saved in a safe place so I don't delete it again.

It is. Thanks again. I took a few shots in the Hinterlands this afternoon.

Thanks! Looking forward to trying this -- will check out upping the rez via CineTools, too. Appreciate the tips.
Eh ... I haven't been crazy about any of my screenies lately but of the bunch I suppose these are some of the better ones. I think I've lost what little eye I had for framing lol.

Sorry to snip out your pics but I do like them
I actually have been wondering about this for a bit. How exactly does the resolution scale on the tools work in conjunction with hotsampling the game?
For example say I am running the game a 2:1 resolution of 1920x960 and set the resolution scale on the tool set to 1.5, would the game resolution then be 2880x1440 down scaled to the 1920x960?
If that is correct if I then rerender the window at a to 2:1 resolution to 4074x2037 would the game actually be rendering that image at 6111x3055 and than down scaled to the 4074x2037 resolution?
If that is the case why not just hot sample the the image at the 6111x3055 resolution to begin with?
I am not sure that I am understanding this right. If I am wrong about my thought process or not understanding please correct me.
^I don't know anything about that stuff. Hopefully someone who does can answer, lol. I just press the button to take a picture :B
Not a problem. This thread doesn't get many views anymore. Alot of people have moved on to other games but perhaps someone who still visits this thread on occasion will know the answers. Other than a few videos there isn't a manual that I know of for the cinematic toolset. I pretty much learned what I know by trial and error.
^AFAIK resolutionscale >1 in the Frostbite engine applies SSAA, this results in sharper textures and crisper images. Rendering the game at larger resolution and then re-sampling it to lower res does the similar thing, but I guess there's a performance difference between the two, haven't done a test myself though, would love to see someone doing it. ![]()
The more important fact, is that some of us don't have a high-end monitor so the highest resolution we can achieve is limited (I mainly use a gaming laptop and my highest desktop resolution is the humble 1080p, my spare monitor can't reach 4K res either), resolutionscale solved that issue and allowed for more control and fine-tuning, so I usually combine the two methods for maximum flexibility, just speaking out from my own experience. ![]()
