IDK, this is just how I feel, but crafting actual weapons and armor.....aside from like a special Dragon Skin set like in Origins seems like too much. I kinda like beating a tough boss and getting rewarded with a weapon, armor piece or accessory that changes your game. I want the game to provide me that thrill. I don't mind having rune slots and crafting runes, and or pieces of stuff to enhance armor and weapons you get through tough battles or fining a hidden lost treasure stash. I think Oblivion and Skyrim crafting made me tired of it.

Aside from the horrendous system of getting schematics, it's actually not bad. But the need to exploit treasure chests (this can't be a deliberate feature) to get most of them is completely rubbish. That's why I don't care and dupe glitch all my materials. I'm not going to farm them too, especially because Dragon mats are limited. Now I'm hoarding about 5000 of each of them.

I got the Rebuke of Sunderland from Emprise when I was about Level 14. Up to that point my 2HW was doing about base damage of 135 or so. I decided to go up there and try my hand and see if I could get some better equipment. Boom that thing has me up to 200 something and a good crit chance on it. Changed my game. And it was fun. That's why I play games like this, to be rewarded for trying to beat tougher enemies. Not into cheats and such. Some up here just wanna finish the game as many times as possible. I have fun going slow and enjoying it.

My primary complaint with the crafting is how armor and weapons end up looking in many cases. Like sometimes I want a stat setup from one armor but the appearance of another. And don't get my started on the garrish orange using Dragon Webbing for cloth slots. I wish there was a separate color section where I could slot materials just to change the colors. Right now I can end up with some seriously horrendous looking color combinations depending on the stats I want... I'm also a bit disappointed that I'm stuck with fire damage that if I want the highest staff dps since Dragon Bone only gives fire damage to staves.

Crafting makes a incredible difference in game play and difficulty. I am running a warrior with two hidden blades enchants. Sera with guard on hit and hidden blades, varric with hidden blades, and solas with guard on hit and hidden blades. Even on nightmare i barely have time to do anything before enemies vaporize. Every enemy seems like they are being constantly swarmed by hidden blades.
how many times will I type the words hidden blades?
HIDDEN BLADES!!!

Couldn't agree more!

This would matter if the game wasn't so easy. Since it is, just craft whatever looks cool.

What I get from this is that crafting can destroy your gameplay, not enhance it!

This is how I feel too, on my first playthrough I painstakingly farmed materials, leaving and reloading maps in order to get fade touched materials, went through the game and killed every dragon there was to only end up with enough dragon bone to make a couple of weapons. I farmed for hours to get the schematics I wanted and some completely eluded me still, it was the least fun part of the game for me. Once I removed that bit of tedium, the game became much more enjoyable.

Yeah. I guess only using weapon and armor drops would make the game more challenging.
