nope..... but every character I make shows up as (local) not (Server)????

Im off to bed can someone else try making a new character and let me know how they get on....Ive looked it up online and it could be a common fault

Hi, I have had the same problem as DoubleD.  Noticed it for the first time on Friday I believe.  I deleted my entire local vault and tried again but it did not change.  Every new character I try to create is created as (local) and of course is rejected because the server does not allow local characters.  

 

I looked online too and it was disturbingly easy to find lots of posts on similar problems so it is not too uncommon, unfortunately.  The suggestions I read had to do with the servers maintenance of its own temp files or vault - sorry I cannot be more specific.

 

It is currently not a terrible problem for me, I have a couple characters that I am perfectly happy to play but it could become a pain later and definitely would be for anyone new coming in.

 

Hope this helps someone.  Sorry we keep bringing you our problems, Mark.  I think we all appreciate all of your hard work and I have really enjoyed having Natfka back online with all of its bumps and scuffs.  Heck I do not recall it ever running perfectly smoothly for long periods without a hiccup in the past either.  It seems to simply be a tough game to host/run.  Fortunately it is about the most endlessly entertaining game as well.

No need.... after the server came back yesterday or Sunday whenever it was, the problem had gone.

So Natfka has been down this week, right?  Is it mostly up for a weekend schedule?  Just curious if there was any way to anticipate when it might be up.

 

When I check online and see "server not found"

  I begrudgingly take a stroll into my "sad town".

 

There just might be more poetry to come if Natfka stays down..... now we wouldn't want that would we?

Hi guys, I hear your pain haha. I hope you all know that has been up for over a week.
I do apologize for natfka being down for a few days last week, but as far as I'm aware, it has been running smooth for about a week now.
I don't predict any issues for a while
The IP address will jump from time to time. If you don't see the server listed, check the forum for an updated IP address. That will most likely be the problem.
I would also say that the server shouldn't be down for long on Wednesdays or Saturdays. I'm usually near my computer on these days if issues occur.

Thanks to johny ringo, suzail is now a reasonable size. Down to a few maps.

Random question: Mark is this where one should post for tactics and such? I'm stumped on how to get past the Iron Cutters in Haunted Halls. Wonder if anyone has tricks or ideas. My "party" is myself- a fighter/rogue and my friend playing a cleric. We are level 15 now so he has spells up to lv 7. Can you flame strike them? Maybe something more efficient? I know I can barely hit the things. They move so fast that they were hard to keep "corralled" and they totally seemed to go after the cleric. Some kind of ai thing? Anyway we barely made it outta there alive.

Oh and one other question.  Was it mentioned there would be a place to post when a planned outing would be?  For instance I intend to try playing this evening at about 9pm- 1030pm central.  Level 15 fighter/rogue.  Planning on trying either HH again or attacking the vampire nest.  Is this forum fine for that or is this meant to be more technical?

Zakoam, as you found out the cutters are TOUGH. I have not been down there since the server came back up, but in the past Iwould  usually bi pass them, but it you have to fight them buff like crazy with anything that ups your AC and DR like greater stoneskin, mantel of egris might, haste, ghostly visage, etc. and use knockdown to keep them from hiutting you. I think that I also used acid sheath and fire shield to return the damage to them.

 

The forum is meant for everything for the time being. I will talk to Mark and see about breaking out a few headings to make it easier to find what players are looking for.

 

BTW everyone, the server is down. I let Mark know and he will get it back up when he gets home from work. Sorry for the inconvienence..

Thanks for the cutter tips. Not sure I can knock them down though as I can barely hit 'em. Do they also have SR? I found out Devastation Spiders do... the hard way. Kind of caught me off guard. But I have noticed a lot of the HH crowd seems to have SR.

Hey guys, sorry for the slow response here. Work has been keeping me pretty busy. Anything you tell to Johnny does it make to me btw. 

 

But to answer the cutter question in HH, mages work the best here with acid sheath. Level 15 characters are going to have a tough time with these. They are pretty overpowered for HH. DR also helps as johnny already mentioned. 

 

I will be attempting to work the ddns.net to have some kind of option of posting for runs, like I mentioned a few months ago.

Once I have a little more time, I'll try to recruit a little more for the server to make a party run more feasible. With 1 or 2 people on at a time most days, makes it hard to make runs together.

Hi,

some questions about Natfka that I never figured out the first time and just ran back into again:

 

I have been trying to figure out this epic spell system.  I have the spell, the seed, the XP and the GP and now when I try to research one it tells me I cannot research "here".  I tried some different locations but have had no luck, mostly around different towns (wizard towers and scroll shops).  Is this supposed to be secret information and I have to keep looking or is it obvious and I overlooked it?  Any help would be appreciated.

 

Second, if we run across things that could be potential bugs or just have ideas/suggestions, should we email that to you Mark or one of the other builders, post them here or would that be more annoying than helpful?
