sorry mac but Dec 26 is when christmas is over and you get back to work especially if you left alot undone.

I like all the people on the forum that feel entitled to dictate the HR policies of major companies as if a video game is a vital municipal service like water or electricity. >.>

if i gotta work you gotta work

and if you leave work undone

you finish it

and btw I work in IT and retail and this my first day off since christmas

soooo

maybe what you are saying is that my jobs are more vital that bioware's? :DD

wow that is kinda heartless.

The crunch time leading up to release would mean that they would've gone without seeing family or friends for weeks.

Add that to working on the patch before Christmas and to the fact that long periods of highly focused work without breaks is detrimental to productivity and I'd say that the time off was deserved.

Even if you don't care about the developers has fellow human beings who've been working hard, you should care that they start back to work after Christmas well rested and able to continue with the highly focused work of software development without losing productivity.

Them coming back to work on St Stephen's Day, probably wouldn't have meant the patch was out any faster because they would've been too fried to be productive.

I pay money. i get what I was promised or i get my money back.

but you kinda cant walk up to BW HQ with a copy of DAI and ask for your 70 dollars back nor can you go back to most places you bought it from.

So heartless is completely fine with me.

People will disagree with that so, oh, well to that.

I don't care? EA doesn't care either. Who do you think was twisting Bioware's arm to shovel in multiplayer and make sure this game was crank out in time for holidays sales?

I didnt get my money's worth and I cant return my game.

what else can i do but complain until everything is fixed and working like it was supposed to be on release day?

Good for you? I fail to see what that has to do with anything. I use to work graveyard shifts on Christmas because I worked in a 24/7 emergency call centre. But I don't pretend that had any bearing on the games industry. Let alone on a team that just finished a project that took several years and just came out of crunch time before the holidays.

Your video game is a luxury, not a vital service.

Seriously people on on the BSN confuse me sometimes...

...A game as big as DA:I takes time to Patch, BioWare are prioritising fixes based on how often the problem occurs and on how easy it is to fix...

...So the more stuff is in the Patch, the longer fans have to wait.
.

This is part of the overall point; it shouldn't need to be patched to this degree after it's been released. Now that it has been released, they need to fix it.

Companies that produce other products don't have a "release me, fix later" mentality where their customers/fans buy a broken product or release a product they KNOW doesn't work properly.

So the reasoning of 'well it's big it will just take longer' is a BS excuse. This is the 3rd patch in the two months it will have been released. Bad product.

They have announced there will be a patch (like we didn't know that would happen) now when are we supposed to get it? January? February? Are they already working on patch 4 (because we all know, there will be a patch 4)?

Personally I would say that you work in a place with a terrible HR policy on PTO, but then I hear the US doesn't even have a guaranteed amount of days, set by the government, for paid time off, which must suck.

Video game development is not like healthcare or vital services, work can be put off for the health and well being of the employees.

Human beings are not robots, time off is required to recharge the batteries (so to speak) and helps you continue to focus on your work, otherwise you lose productivity.

why couldn't you return it under the Origin Return policy when you first got it? That is one thing I'll say about Origin their return policy is excellent, unlike Steams.

This is rich. So you are saying that if ANY product we purchase that IS NOT a vital service, companies can produce what ever sh** they want and not be regulated or held to a standard of any kind?

Great mentality (if it were 1920). I like my car to have breaks that work, not to have lead in my kids' toy paint, and safety sealed containers.

But if those examples are too close to safety issues for you, the same applies to TVs, blu ray players, shoes, food, computers, work out equipment, plates, booze, cribs, eye glasses, even GD condoms are regulated.

So luxury item or not, I want to buy products that work; not ones that will eventually be fixed.

Seriously people on on the BSN confuse me sometimes.

First it was all

- 'where's patch 3 BioWare, this is taking too long, hurry up, BioWare fail again'

Then Patch 3 notes get released and it's all

- 'there is not enough in this Patch BioWare, I'm disappointed in it'

A game as big as DA:I takes time to Patch, BioWare are prioritising fixes based on how often the problem occurs and on how easy it is to fix.

They then need to decide, based on time, which fixes make it into Patch 3 without fans having to wait too much longer.

So the more stuff is in the Patch, the longer fans have to wait.

A Patch can't be released relatively quickly AND have huge meaningful changes, the last patch was just over a month ago and BioWare were on holidays for most of that.

It's also important to note that some of issues may never get fixed, just because it is important to you, doesn't mean that it is something that can be prioritized in a patch.

There are a number of bugs in DA, Skyrim, Fallout 3 etc, that never got fixed.

We're going on two months from release. At this point all the major bugs should have been fixed already and this should be the minor clean up time. Two months after release of a AAA title and some people still can't finish their playthroughs, some people have Direct X related crashes and everyone still has broken two handed skills. Somehow the code to fix the broken detonators is beyond them in two months? How long should we wait to have this game patched to AAA status? Another month? Maybe sometime in June? They're not going to get much sympathy about not having time because of some long Christmas break when most of us are lucky to have one or two days off for Christmas.

At least BioWare is trying to do something about the bugs, unlike Bethesda who apparently gave up any type of supports for The Elder Scrolls Online console versions.

You say that like no game ever has needed patches after release, yes it seems to have become a bigger issues in recent years, but DA:I is not the first game that has ever needed a patch after release, it's not even the first DA game to need a patch.

DA:O Patch release notes

DA2 Patch release notes

ME 2 Patch release notes

Fallout 3 Patches

Fallout NV Patches

I could go on.

No, I'm saying that we shouldn't have to wait for patches. They should QA their product better and some higher entity should be making sure that there is a standard that would not allow software companies, of any kind, to release broken product.

Would you like to explain just what you wanted to say with that last paragraph in the quoted post above, then?

Because I read it exactly the same way Harold seems to have.

Then you both have reading comprehension issues. Especially given that what you quoted from me was not what Harold quoted when he was responding to me. So, like Harold, you're making up the narrative you wish to argue against.

Your devious attempt to dodge the question by stooping to ad-hominem insults failed, I'm sorry to say. How about explaining what you failed to communicate instead of forcing your readers to guess and then berating them for not being able to read your mind?

My PS3 hasn't had any bugs nor clitches with Skyrim so comments like this puzzles me. Maybe Bethesda just patched it to perfection? Or then I'm just lucky with to have version with no bugs

Patch 3 didn't help me out with a gamebreaking bug that keeps me from proceeding in the game. Starting to wonder if I will ever get to see the end of this game.

I had the GOTY or whaterver edition on my PS3 and had a few issues like 2 or 3 lock ups and a few areas where the frame rate would dip but nothing major. At least the skills worked like they were suppoused to, unlike some things in DA:I.

I'm not being devious. I really don't get how you don't understand what the problem is. If you need it spelled out though fine.

I said:

I like all the people on the forum that feel entitled to dictate the HR policies of major companies as if a video game is a vital municipal service like water or electricity. >.>

Harold said:

Right out of the gate, everything past "So you are saying" is Harold creating a strawman argument for him to argue against. My comment was about entitled people on the forum dictating to a company what their HR policies should be like that company was a vital service. Harold's argument was about product quality and standards. I said nothing about companies being able to produce anything they want without regulation or standards.

Furthermore, the basis of Harold's argument is the state of DA:I as a product. Which is honestly no where near the moist dick slap in the face some people on the forums like to act like it is. Harold is making a general assumption on the state of the product based on his own opinion as if it were fact. Then creating a strawman out of what I said to give him an opportunity to argue his opinion as if I had directly addressed it.

That clear enough?
