My first character was a knight enchanter and I was able to solo dragons that were the same level as me. My second character is a level 17 two handed reaver qunari. I am going up against a level 13 dragon and my crew and I get absolutely destroyed. I am playing on hard. I can't even get close to beating the dragon, it just destroys us in about a minute.
Wow, Knight Enchanter = Godhood

The thing about the Knight Enchanter is that you generally don't die unless you want to. So, even if their damage was weak (and it isn't), they'd still be pretty darn good.

You should be able to solo most dragons the same level as you with a 2handed warrior.
Are you blocking the dragon claw attacks with block and slash? Once you get the hang of that, dragons have a hard time doing anything to you. Just charging bull through the dragon when they use breath attacks.

As Actionhero pointed out, it is typically just getting to know the new classes 'tricks' and stradegies. That said, KE is infact a damage sponge and damage dealer... this is of course why I love it. ![]()

Just killed it. I had to use tac camera, my party would die way too fast. I am not blocking the attacks at all, I should probably get that skill. I was just amazed how easy it was killing dragons as a knight enchanter. You guys are right, I just have to get to know this new class that I haven't played yet.

The mage in the picture is my 2nd Inquisitor and is a Knight Enchanter. I was playing at high difficulty and once I unlocked the specialization and combined it with the Inferno spells he pretty much became unbeatable.
Every time I used the soul sword (or whaddya call it) the barrier reinforced itself a little, and a lot every time I used immolation.
Dragons went down like it was nothing.
I would say "nerf this", but it's freakin awesome.

Knight-Enchanter plays like a bruiser tank. Tanks in this game do a lot of damage while soaking it as well with the right builds.
KE is just the easiest to optimize and therefore seems the most OP. A sword and shield reaver (or 2-H if you're feeling insane) keeping their HP at permanently low health levels can dish out comparable damage.

Do other tanks deal as much damage as KEs? Honest question.

With the right builds, they can deal comparable damage especially with combos which KE lacks.
KE still wins out on sustained damage though that's correct. I'd say their survivability should be nerfed a little by removing some of their synergy with Clean Burn. Frankly it looks like KE has a little too much benefit from all the damage and cooldown reduction passives available in the mage tree.
Still it's a rather strict high-level build to achieve the level of "OP" via synergy and by that time the game is almost finished so I see no harm in people destroying everything in their path at that point.

Depends how long To the Death is able to stack. After about two and a half minutes straight it's pretty insane, and as long as you keep hitting the target your Guard won't drop, though your allies will probably be long dead since the target is dealing 750% more damage.

"Wow" is right! I'm just starting my 2nd playthrough, as a Mage this time. 1st was as a Rogue Archer, and didn't obtain the Assassin Specialization until waaaay too late in the game. Looking forward to obtaining this Specialization as early as possible and seeing how it plays. ![]()

I'm on my second playthrough as a KE and I'm not sure I'll be able to give this specialization up any time soon. It is BADASS.

You shouldn't be losing against a level 13 Dragon when you're level 17/16... Is it the Crestwood Dragon? That's literally the easiest one, you can even dispel the Lightning Circles (Bring Cassandra or some mages with Dispel) totally negating one of the Dragon's abilities.
When it attacks, either Block and Slash (You'll run out of stamina fast though) or better yet, use Charging Bull to run through the dragon, dodging its attack. Dragons are extremely predictable with their attacks: You'll have plenty of time to press the pause button the moment you see it lifting a limb or inhaling.

I love this specialization. At first, I thought it was going to be some lame version of Arcane Warrior but it's not. With the way I killed alll 10 dragons without ever crafting a single thing(and occasionally forgetting to equip my Willpower amulet), this build should be named Arcane Slayer or something. Knight Enchanter feels lame and reminds me too much of Vivienne "bleah*.

I like Fire Mine more than Immolate (though I use both) as it does 1600% damage of your staff and will instantly max your Barrier. The upgrade to Fade Cloak is also a high hitter if you reappear inside the enemy. These 2 skills, with Spirit Blade inbetween, can keep you in perma-barrier with the right passives (clean burn, rejuvenating barrier and mana surge). The mage in the picture is my 2nd Inquisitor and is a Knight Enchanter. Yeah, the only things that can take you down with KE are several Red templar shadows attacking you at the same time from behind..
I hate it when they steal my godhood!

LOL, no doubt! I only play on Nightmare now, and they can be a pain, but I usually just mine myself and Fade Cloak into them. FC staggers them all and then my mine destroys them. I call it " double dribble". ;-)

I think that Masterwork forges are enough to reach godhood. I mean, I currently have an armor that gains +5 guard per hit, and a shield that has a 10% chance per hit of making me immune to damage. And if it wasn't enough, an axe that has a chance of chain lightning (hilarious on groups of enemies...or when you kick someone after a Grappling Hook and lightning spurs out of your leg. FALCOOON KICK!!!, yeah
).
I mean, fall damage is the only one I've taken in quite some time.

I have gone back and forth choosing and testing; next attempt will be a KE Storm caster. And I look forward to seeing their faces if they make the mistake of closing to melee.

Am torn myself; am terrible at melee, but the KE abilities beckon to me far more than Rift Magic. While I am a long time fan of Stone Fist, that is about all of the Active spells in the tree I like besides Focus.

My next build will be an exclusively ranged mage build (the opposite of my current melee S&S Warrior build...althought I don't know if Grappling Hook can be counted as "ranged"), so I guess it'll be Rift mage for me, probably.

I just want to chime in for alternate but equally fun builds:
Rift mage with Pull of the Abyss + Fire Mine and the weaken debuffs = roflcopter on mobs. Not useful against dragons but man, nothing has been so fun than pulling 5 guys into one little bunch, hitting them with fire mine and immolate and just watching that HP melt away.
So satisfying.

If I can catch the rogue/shadow enemies vanishing into a puff of smoke, I usually cast static cage, and that usually zaps them back into view, allowing me to slash into them with a the spirit blade, or hit them with some chain lightning and let my good buddy Cass take care of them. I like how the rogue allies can still sort of see the cloaked enemy moving along the field, since the hitbox remains visible.

This is one of my favorite tactics. Viv is my electric mage, so when the mobs are grouped fairly close I go to tac cam, plant static cage, then fire mine. After the fire mine goes off I go in with fade cloak to stagger them again, or finish them off completely. This makes for some incredibly short fights even on nightmare. I've not played DW Rogue yet, so take that comment with a grain of salt.

I always try to drop an Immolate on an assassin before they disappear. You can still see the burning effect on them once they go into stealth, so you can bag them with a well-placed mine or just attack them outside of tactical view with a basic attack to drop them out of stealth.
