I mean, for men, it's mostly fine. I have an elf mage with the shaved hair that is similar to Dorian's, but not the same. Kinda like a skid mark of hair on a shaved head. Anyways, I've noticed a trend: a lot of the females I see 'round here have that shaved hairstyle that it comes out on the right and is generally fine elsewhere, but the hair has been shaved off and reduced to fuzz above the left eye. Am I the only one who doesn't really like these hairstyles? Who else isn't exactly in favor of these hairstyles?

You're welcome to dislike them -- and if you don't like them, then don't use them! Otherwise, I'm not sure why it's any concern of yours what other people do with their own characters.

You're not the only one. The receding hairline on the shaved parts makes it impossible for me to use. It screams manly. Plus, I despise the texture. Too frizzy.

But there are only a few hairstyles that I can stand anyway, since most hairstyles are blatantly male because of the hairline or sideburns. Even the longest hairstyle we have is a no-go because of the sideburns.

The sideburns are what prevent me to use the half shaved, that is nor good, but at least is not bland as all the others.

You see the same hairstyle being used a lot, because the rest are even more horrible. At least the half-shaved long hair one does not clip all to hell through ears. Still, them sideburns, that hairline.

My lady Adaar is bald and beautiful.

 

Besides, since most of the "longer" hairstyles clip horribly through the ears, I'm relieved they didn't attempt anything more elaborate..........

I'll happily take the clipping every day if that means I never have to see those sideburns and hairlines ever again. Besides, moving the ears about will usually solve that problem. Though not all, mind.

They said they put out long hairs because of "clipping" but hell everything in this game already clips way too much: your weapons clip trough you,casual clothing on Qunari,the hairstyles we already got clip with ears,Briala's bun clips with her helmet she is wearing,Leliana's hair clips trough her hood on first cinematic when you have first convo with her at Haven,hands clip trough noblewomen/Morrigan's gown and etc. because I could name at least hundred of things that clip and even that would be small list!

And then you say that problem is why decent and long hair is out is because of clipping? Well I would gladly have that hair no matter how much it clips(since everything is already clipping as it is).

witout counting the half shaved ones...

exist so many different kind of short styles, why not try to do them, instead of only shaved styles? I would have loved a short style like Cassandra, but without the braid on top.

I seriously don't understand how BioWare thought this was okay. What the hell kinda drugs were they on when they approved the hairstyles that would launch with the game?

I am the opposite: I'd rather have a bald Inquisitor, than clipping hair. Don't really like my Inquisitor to look like a walking bug, thanks.

 

 

That said, the hairstyle you see on my avatar (the same that scout Harding has) is the one I find less offensive, and in general I think buns are the best compromise between non-shaven and not clipping.

Your armour layers clip incessantly in some rogue outfits. I mean, if everything else is going to clip anyways why can't we have Rapunzel's hair?

I'm missing DAO's vanilla hairstyles. At least there was some kind of variety. I had hoped, after DA2's at least decent choices, that DAI was safe. Expecially after the cute hairstyles we have seen in the first models. Really, what happen to those?!? why where those scrapped???

 

Of course the only decent thing of DA2 had to be cancelled. 

 

And of course, still no word about new hairstyles? I've finished my second run at DAI. I'd like to have decent hair before the next game. Or at east know if I have to resign myself.

Pff, it's BW. I don't know what or why we expected from them, they made it very clear in the past games that anything beyond default appearance and companions appearance is gonna suck so hard I can't even. And then they just dropped "Good news everyone, now you also can't mod your game so f you. Just shut up and give us our money."

Really? Huh, well that's your prerogative, of course. I find that particular hairstyle abysmal because it causes massive-forehead-disorder. Plus, it doesn't fit most heads. There are two pieces of hair, straight as a board, in front of each ear. Creating a gap between the cheekbones and said pieces of hair.

I agree with the buns being the most decent hair available even though the hair on the back of the neck clips with most collars. But do I really want all my Inquisitors to run around with the same two buns everytime?

Way too many ugly hair style selections for female character. Seriously, I only find two that are acceptable and the rest are nasty. Curious, this is the best Bioware designers could come up with? Most are either shaven or semi-shaven. Just plain lazy work. Apparently Bioware needs to hire a hair stylist as a consultant.

I've used the partially shaved + braid look on a couple of characters. I'm honestly not crazy about it, but it's still one of the more actually stylish styles available.

 

Otherwise it's 7 varieties of completely shaved (some shaved is good, but c'mon), with the rest a choice between granny, poofy, or granny-poofy.

 

It's so disheartening because they CAN do good updos n such. Look at Josephine's.

Some of those close-cut styles exist to offer more options for ethnic hair, which I'm definitely in favor of.

Games almost always have plenty of options matching people of my ethnicity (straight or mildly wavy hair), and maybe one option for tight curls, if any. I'm more than willing to give up some of the straight-to-wavy spectrum if it means that means people have actual options for tight curls.

(unfortunately, curls are hard to render in a convincing way... hence why they're usually very short, or very loose)

Yes, it is disgusting and looks truly atrocious on female characters. There should be dozens upon dozens of long hair. On the other hand it helps you to identify posters and speak alot about personality, whenever I see shaved side of the head I think 'tumblr'.

I'm actually using this one on my current playthrough, they're not entirely horrible you just gotta work em on the right face otherwise it'd be terrible
