For me there were just two categories of hair. "Not so good" ones and "plain awful" ones. And even in the first category there were just one or two hairstyles that I really didn't mind using. But it gets very boring when the options are so limited. I went with a "slick with ponytail" hairdo for one of mine characters eventually, though its in my "plain awful'' section, but the hairline is just constantly bugging me. I am not great at anatomy or whatever, but it just seems like a masculine hairline to me... Actually the great majority of hairs do seem like they were intended for guys. The fact that creating the male character was not quite as painful sets me even firmer in this belief)

I don't care for eyebrows though. There were ok eyebrows.

I think it all emphasises on how the Inquisitor is really a nobody, caught in the events) The hair, the clothes)))

It's another liberal agenda.

They are manipulating us into rolling out ugly characters to prove that ugly people can be heroes too. ;)

Bioware has never done hair well -- it always looks like mashed-together strips of half-melted plastic. But I like the short, pratical styles because they are practical, and the plastic effort would be even worse with long hair. I'd rather not see them waste money on fancy visual bling when the same money could pay for more actual content.

Also, I'd actually like my character being called "plain". There's so much ego-stroking in these games that it would be refreshing and amusing to hear some NPC mutter, "That's the Inquisitor? I thought they'd be more handsome".

I rather be plain tbh, I've seen people creating Eldritch Abominations (not the kind that you do when you fack around the CC for the giggles) calling them "angels".

I think there are at least three types of players:

- people who are great with character creator and can make an awesome character out of nothing;

- people who are great with character creator AND modding tools, and can make a super-ultra-awesome character with perfect skin and everything else;

- people like me who just go with the prettiest default option, because after a few tries to make her prettier/different, they sigh and despair.

Frankly, I despaired. I went with default Warden, I went with default Hawke, and I went with default Lavellan.

And that's why I really, really think they should have done something about the default faces, because four out of five female elven faces were, to put it mildly, not even remotely interesting. I loved option number five, yes, but the first four? The default plump-faced elven blonde we see as she struggles to her feet in the Fade? Seriously, I think they should've done better there. Five beautiful default characters would have made many, many players much happier. Um, I think.

Type number four (raises hand):

- people who don't really have an eye for shapes and proportions but muddle through by modifying someone else's better work

For me, that usually means making the character less "pretty", though, and more androgynous.

Well my problem with the CC is the green ambiance and lighting. When you fuss too much about colouring prepare yourself for disaster.

"Oh I think I got it this time!" *Starts playing*

Meh, not sure I agree with the premise here, though I will say I don't try very hard to make my characters super-uber beautiful. Just interesting.

My first playthrough was as a male Lavellan, with red hair, blue eyes, and the alternate Sylaise tattoo. Guess how many NPCs looked like me? Zero. And I wasn't some hideous troll or anything. Just different, because I didn't try to make some conventionally beautiful character.

I personally thing the CC is great, with the notable exception of hair. But that's it. Everything else is fine, and the CC can make beautiful characters, ugly characters, and everything in between.

I can live with the mediocre face customization in DA:I, but the hair.  Dear god, the hair.  Not only are they all unbelievably awful, but the developers didn't even bother to make them gender specific.

Either the Frostbite engine is incapable of rendering decent hair, which I find unlikely, or the devs got overambitious and ran out of time.

I find the latter much easier to believe, given the rest of the game.

Opinions opinions of course, and sure it can always be better. I especially think more hairstyles are sorely needed, but I def don't think we're plain.

There's nothing wrong with your character design, but the hair and beard, dear God, look like as$. I've seen better hair modeling in a SNES game. That's awful on Bioware's part.

The only way that is even remotely acceptable is if you are playing on last gen.

Yeah I will never not complain about the hair. I've played games that are less fun with better variety of hairstyles. Especially since we play a voiced character with lots of cutscenes we have to stare at for hours. I mean, it's nice that we got such a detailed CC with a million shades of eye colours, but the quality of hair and hairstyle is pretty important for one's appearance, isn't it?

Yeah, the hair and eyebrows are the biggest problem I have with the CC. I don't get why we get so many shaved styles and then have to deal with so few nice buns/ponytails/braided styles. I don't want loose long hair, it would probably be a nightmare for them to create, but I would like some nice braided styles. The one we got is cute and all, but it bothers me that Harding shares it with you, I can't see it without thinking of her. It's a shame they removed Leliana and Anora's styles from the CC, they were cute and practical.

I guess I'll just have to wait for mods, but I usually don't like them either. I want my character to look like a badass who saves the world, not a runway model. And that rules 95 % of the modded hair out.

Plain is not issue darling in here it is lack of hair.As OP stated there are 7 shaved hairs that are not needed because 1 or 2 is more then enough when it comes to shaved/bald hairs.Anyway I still wish real ponytail hair I mean common...why is there no ponytail? Why?

The only reason that men and women can have the same hairstyles now is because without it there would only be 3 hairstyles each, excluding buzzcuts.

Well I actually noticed that there is female Tal-Vashot too lol

They are right outside Cullen's room in Skyhold:

They always have bad lighting in their character creation, but Inquisition definitely takes the cake. Why on Earth do they keep doing that, especially without a way to save the character file or the slider code so you have to start from scratch each time? Let's have natural daylight for the character creator, already.

I like that. The less is gender-specific, the better. Mind, I'm also the kind of player who'd kill for a much buffer body type and less hip sway ...

I was in denial right up until I was in the CC.

"No, there can't really be that few hairstyle options."

Then of course, it was just trying to suppress my frustration. For the CC to allow us to change the size and direction of scars, the intensity of lip gloss (not to mention whether it's lip gloss or lip stick), and the shape of our jawline with exactitude, but have such a step back when it comes to hair options...it's just hard for me to absorb.

For females, I only like two of them...and I don't even like them that much.

For males...eh, I miss that one short cut, the one that used to be Cullen's hair. I'm going almost bald for two of my three male characters just because I find the rest so lackluster.

This is entirely me being weird and finicky, but I can't won't use Dorian's hair.

It's Dorian's hair.

I would agree if all the hairstyles were gender neutral.

Indeed. Let us for once do what we want with our chars.

I'll say it once again, since all hairstyles are shared with the npc they also should've done it with companions hairstyles. I would kill for Cullen's perfect hair for male chars, lol.  :D

For females, I only like two of them...and I don't even like them that much.

I know this pain cause for male chars,well... To think of it, the only one I can live with is a f-ing mullet. I can't even.

Here is a wish list:

1.  More hair styles

2.  Better choice of eyebrows

3.  A little more leeway with the brow/forehead.  I can never seem to make a very intimidating looking Inquisitor, because I can't get the eyebrows down low enough to give them that "angry eyes" look.

4.  Be able to choose between "short," "medium," and "tall" heights.

5.  Be able to choose "slim," "regular," and "husky" body builds.

The first two seem to be easy fixes.  Perhaps # 3 is more complicated.  My guess is #4 and #5 will never happen.

I suppose a couple of more voice options would be grand.

What bothers me is that the Cullen style hair isn't available in the CC. I kind of hope there will eventually be a mod on PC giving us access to it.
