Just chiming in;



I just got ME2 from steam 4 hours ago, but now there are problems...



I can't connect to the Cerberus network. I can connect to EA directly, and I've already downloaded and added all my pre-order items - I just can't verify them.



I know that I can play the game without the items, but I'd rather wait and see... but darn it, I wanna' play!

I'm having the same problem Charlie, except I got the physical PC Collector's Edition through GameStop.

And I just noticed I only have the Dragon Age icon under my avatar, despite registering the game about 4 hours ago... weird.

Jup, similar stuff here - I registered the game (and I can only choose to un-register it now), but only Dragon Age appears in "my games".

Yea, it is really confusing between having an EA account, a BioWare social account, which game is registered where, blah blah.



Every game line EA has taken over they have just drawn down into the muck with interfering and registering and all that crap.



I managed to have my account activate etc fine, but it might as well not have, since it just crashes.

How come mine works so well?



I'll try and help as much as I can.



Here's what I did immeadiatly after instal succeeded:



1: Calibrated NVidia Graphical Settings.

2: Started game and it immeadiatly prompted me for login information.

3: Entered my user account I made way back for Battlefield 2142.

4: After logging in, (Smooth ride) I clicked "Connect" next to the Cerberus laptop thingy.

5: Entered my Cerberus code, (another Smooth ride)

6: Clicked "New Content Available" which took me to this site,

7: Registered my account and game to this site,

8: Entered all three of my codes for the DLC packs. (Terminus, Collector's, Dragon Age armour)

9: Downloaded the DLC's and installed them promptly.



No issues, no bugs, and the DLC's are great!



I hope this somehow helps, though I doubt it will.

Thanks anyway Tilde. I get as far as starting the game and asking me to login to my account. I click "continue", and with no delay it immediately comes up with the "Error. Connection to the Mass Effect 2 Server was interrupted or has timed out. Try again later". I've opened the ports in the readme, talked to EA livechat support who "did some things" in my "account settings" on their end to try to get it to work, but no cigar.

I never could get the game to register at all.  I activated all my promo codes first and I entered the code printed on the manual through that as well.  That being said, when I went to do the actual register it said my registration code had already been used and won't register.  Ah well.

im having a problem with my activation code saying that it is already used. its not cerberus but even before that. now i have heard that dragon age origins had the same problem when downloaded digitally so does anyone know what to do based on that information. sometimes it seems like it goes through but then the screen is just blank with just the background and no text or loading screen

Wow! Tried to log on again and, wouldn't you know it, it's telling me that the game hasn't been released in New York yet! It's still insisting, despite all available evidence, that it's actually the day before yesterday. Crazy.



So how about telling us what you're doing to fix it, Bioware? Tell us what the problem is? Tell us approximately when it'll be fixed? That would be swell, don't you think?

Wow!

Now it suddenly worked for me!



What I did was this:

1: Start up my firewall (I had disabled it, to rule out any conflicts. It's Comodo, btw.)

2: Shut down Steam

3: Run the MassEffect2.exe directly as administrator (my exe was here: "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\mass effect 2\\Binaries")

4: Steam started, the game started, and then I got the usual "Items cannot be verified" pop-up.

5: I tried to connect, and it timed out - as usual.

6: I alt-tabbed, and noticed that my firewall was blocking it - I unblocked it.

7: Alt-tabbed back into the game, tried to connect - and it worked!



Now, I don't know why it worked - maybe there was something about the firewall (even though I had it turned off earlier); maybe it was doing the "run as administrator" thing on the exe (but it should work through Steam...); maybe they just fixed the servers...



Anyway, I hope this can help somebody - I'm gonna' play now!

yes not that i think about i do have any other EA games but when i mouse over my games the only thing that comes up is register games which i alredy have and i shows i can unregister mass effect 2 is this my mai problem? if so how do i fix it?

This is rediculous, i waited all this time for this damn game to come out and i can't even play it after i pay for the delexe digital download from EA it self and now i have no frickin' clue what i need to do to get it rolling if this goes on another ****ing day i want my damn money back and you can keep this ****

That gave me some hope Charlie. I reproduced what you did as best I could as it applied to my version, but still nothing. I'll just keep trying I guess. I've got a collector's edition of the strategy guide put back for me too I'm ready to buy as soon as this gets fixed. Will be nice to use all of the 50 billion promos I have. Dragon Armor, Terminus Armor, M-490 Rifle, Collector's Edition Armor and Gun, Zaeed, and Normandy Crash Site just sitting there.

I want to know why it says I already used my cerberus code... Where do I go for support for that? I am thinking EA isnt going to be able to help me with that.

Ok so I do have the collectors editionof the game for xbox 360 and also received the cerberus card number 1688008.  Had no problem with the cerberus network and the downloadable content from the card,  but the code from EA for the pre order for the Inferno armor and the code for the colector armor and rifle is not working.  My email is the same with bioware social as my live account and it says that it is acrivated but in game it is not showing up on shepards personal terminal like it says it should.   Anyone know why I can activate cerberus but not the pr order or collector items?

:The date checker came up and I pressed the button to do the check and it went through it, then the date checker closed. The computer sounded like it was going to load something and made a circular "loading" button where the mouse pointer is, and then dissapeared. Nothing loaded after this. I tried a few extra times and the quick launcher menu where you can choose to play, configure, support etc loads, but when I click on play it does the same load and dissapear thing. My Terminus Assualt Armo and the M-490 both show as xbox but i got the PC pre order and it even says PC on the card with the code on it. So i cant download it at all and install it and for that matter, I installed on my D drive because that has more room and yet when installing these addons.. they call go to common files in the c:\\program files instead. Is that still correct? I dont have that much room left on my c drive to begin.

Starting to run out of ideas to test now really, for past 4 hours+ I've been trying to figure out what is the issue with the activation of ME2. I got the digital download version from EA Store, game itself "unlocked" today and I was pretty happy to see the release date check to pass without problems...

Only to run in to another problem that prevents me from playing, This time the ME2 activation window with Grunt, when I type my e-mail and password to the window and click "Sign In" I get and error window that says "We're sorry, an error has occured" which is quite vague at best.

In general though, this whole digital download process from EA Store has been filled with so many problems that it is really unbelievable - missing promotional codes, release date check confusion and now this latest problem. Only if the CE release hadn't been delayed in Nordic countries... *sigh*

I entered my code in the game part and it keeps saying new content.. and i have all i can get with collectors on the site and stuff.. but every time i click DLC in game it brings me to the page to enter my code and when i enter it it says already reg. why is it making me type it again anyone else have that problem?

This is really pissing me off. I sit here - have unactivated / reactivated my access to this game on my account tons of times. Downloaded, reinstalled, uninstalled - etc. I get past the first checkpoint on release date varification until I hit where you log your account in.



" We could not activate ME2 on this computer using the EA account you provided. Please take a moment o locateyour game key and activate your game on this computer using your EA account." I've activated it on the website atleast 10+ times and deactivated / reactivated etc. It's giving me nothing. Wth ? How do I fix this? I want to play my f'ing game already. I sit and press "Enter Product Key" and then nothing happens - all the menus go away and nothing. Absolutely nothing. WTH????

EA Finally sent me a Cerberus network code, but the website just ate it.

! made sure I was logged into my social acccount here when I redeemed it, now all I got is Code in use ingame. And nothing shows up under my redemeed codes. tried entering it again, but that wont work
