i bought the game 2 months ago, i only started playing it 2 weeks ago, all of this time i was unable to connect to the cerberus network in-game.
i keep getting the "timed-out" error, my hosts file is completly clean and disabling the firewall and all network protection dosnt seem to work, my friend play the game on another system before me (the same copy but without any registration) and he was able to connect to the cerberus login server.
any kind of insight would be usefull guyes...

Took a long break from ME2 since I've beaten it for the 5th time. Try to play it today to check out the Hammerhead DLC and can't log into Cerberus network, keeps telling me I timed out =/

Actually, that's not going to work as typed. But it would have been so easy, just two more button clicks, to do this:demongirl420 wrote...

If you are having errors connecting to Cerberus Network and the EA servers because they are "timing out" please follow the guide below.
This issue is caused by false lines written in the hosts file.
In order to fix this, you need to delete some lines in the hosts file. Heres a step by step guide.
1. Go to Start Menu and open up Computer, once there, open up your hard drive. which currently has windows installed on it. (For most people, that will be C:)
2. If Windows was installed on the hard drive you selected, you will see a folder named Windows, open that up.
3. Now look for the System32 folder, open that up. Now look for the drivers folder and open that. Then at last, the etc folder. The directory should now be something like C:Windows/System32/drivers/etc
4. Inside you will see the hosts file. Open up Notepad which is located in accesories (right click and select Run as Administator if on Vista or Win7)
5. Go to File on Notebook and select Open, now go to the same place shown at No.3. Make sure you have Notepad set to look for all files, you can change this by clicking on the arrow next to Text Documents (*.txt) in the bottom right corner and making that All.
6. Once in that Directory, now you can open up the hosts file with Notepad, once you have done this you now need to delete every line in that file which has the word EA in it and also starts with 127.
7. Save the file and then quit notepad and everything else that I have told you to open in this guide.
You should now be able to use Cerberus.
Happy gaming!

Alright, so I started the game up for the first time in a long while and I'm getting the time out error too. I tried the fix, and unless I'm just being dumb and doing it wrong, it's not working. I tried entering the command that was posted just a little bit ago, and it said that the command wasn't found.
So can anybody help me here? Because honestly, the only thing I could think of at this points is that the EA servers are just down of their own accord.

Okay, last thing to try that I can think of at this time, in your options turn of auto login, then reboot the game and just click connect, hopefully now it should allow you to change the account you logged into or just re write it in.
Also, make sure you ran in admin mode if on vista or win7.

Didn't do anything, I'm afraid. Is there any chance it might be my router acting up? I'm using an incredibly old, incredibly terrible D-Link DI-624. I really should get a new one, but I'm pretty short on cash at the moment.

Okay, Im currently using a very old router and I am running it fine, when you open the hosts file, presumebly you can, are there any extra lines there?

Posté 08 avril 2010 - 10:52
Yeah. The file just gives me some text about what it does, then it says "127.0.0.1 localhost", after which is followed by a huge list of websites that it says were added by an anti-spyware program. I've tried deleting those already, of course.

Well great, now I feel like a giant retard: I had installed PeerBlock the other week and forgot entirely that it likes to mess with this sort of thing.
Thanks for all the help, but I'm terribly sorry about having been a big waste of time for you.

You are in the wrong place. This is for GAME problems on the PC. You have a SITE problem, instead.

I have the standard ME2 pc version. All the DLCs are listed in my online profile, and I have downloaded and installed them but everytime I log into the game I get an error message which says "Unable to authorise the listed DLCs. I have tried entering my cerebus code on the terminal but I keep getting the message back that the code has already been used. Of course it has as I used it when I redeemed the DLCs which I have. What is going on????
