I have a Ea account and sign in fine, But when I try to connect Bioware account it says my password is wrong. They are both the same are they not????
Mass Effect work fine before I down loaded Kasumi Stolen memory.
Why does every thing have to be this much trouble.

What's the minimum number of ports you need open to play this? I know the readme lists about 150 ports, that's useless to me. I'm behind a university firewall that blocks by default - we can open up to 20 ports by request, I have 3 open already. So, is it possible to play online using 17 ports?

I need a way to activate DLC.  I can access Cerberus and download DLC.  The game requires termination of all background services to run smoothly.  When I terminate virus, firewalls, internet and extraneous services the game produces the folloming error message when starting up.

Unable to authorize the listed DLC.  Please log into Cerberus Network with the account used to purchase the DLC.  Arc Projector, Zaeed, Cerberus Weapon and Armor, Firewalker mission pack, Normandy crash site.

Why did the software fail to activate my DLC on the original connect and why do all subsequent connections also fail to permanently activate the DLC?  Do I need to connect game as administrator once to get the DLC activated?

Playing Mass Effect 2 and connecting to the internet are mutually exclusive and not feasible due to the fact that the internet is a dangerous place.  I hope you are not going to suggest that disabling my firewall and virsus software while being connected is a viable way to authorize DLC inorder to play ME2 unprotected for long periods of time.

Hi everyone! Please help me, I'm feeling stupid: I have a ME2 Collector's Edition (hard copy) and I can't find the registration key :(

Looked everywhere: all three disks, the art book, the comic book, the metal box, the cerberus card, the cardboard package that contained the artbook and stuff - I just can't find it.

Please help me out: where shall I look?

Thanks in advance!

Apologies for being a n00b...

I've purchased ME2 for PC, and have successfully activated the Cerberus account, yet I do not have option to download Zaeed.... When I go into downloadable content from in-game, All I see are Kasumi, Alt Appearance pack 1, and Cerberus Network.  Is Zaeed downloadable?  Is it part of another pack?

Thanks!

@98Cafe As long as Cerberus is activated you can download all your dlc's from here Profile -> Your Registered Promotions.

@Holgerek Do you get a error message when you try to use it? If so what does it say?

For those with timeout errors, perhaps the origin of the problem might be the same as for me.

For 2 monthes I've had no issue, until I installed the Kasumi DLC. Since then, impossible to connect to Cerberus server in Mass Effect game.

Finally, I've found that in my routeur, in the uPnP section, a EA entry was present. I've deleted it and since then, I am able to connect again.

I hope this will help some other players here :)

It is basically the same as using my step by step guide on editing the hosts file to delete lines about EA.

If you are having errors connecting to Cerberus Network and the EA servers because they are "timing out" please follow the guide below.

This issue is caused by false lines written in the hosts file.

In order to fix this, you need to delete some lines in the hosts file. Heres a step by step guide.

1. Go to Start Menu and open up Computer, once there, open up your hard drive. which currently has windows installed on it. (For most people, that will be C:)

2. If Windows was installed on the hard drive you selected, you will see a folder named Windows, open that up.

3. Now look for the System32 folder, open that up. Now look for the drivers folder and open that. Then at last, the etc folder. The directory should now be something like C:Windows/System32/drivers/etc

4. Inside you will see the hosts file. Open up Notepad which is located in accesories (right click and select Run as Administator if on Vista or Win7)

5. Go to File on Notebook and select Open, now go to the same place shown at No.3. Make sure you have Notepad set to look for all files, you can change this by clicking on the arrow next to Text Documents (*.txt) in the bottom right corner and making that All.

6. Once in that Directory, now you can open up the hosts file with Notepad, once you have done this you now need to delete every line in that file which has the word EA in it and also starts with 127.

7. Save the file and then quit notepad and everything else that I have told you to open in this guide.

You should now be able to use Cerberus.

Happy gaming!

Hi,

The simple version:

I buy Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2. I install Dragon Age, then create an account, and download content. I install Mass Effect 2, I try to log on and am informed the my password does not match the account records for my email address. I double check, I tripple check. I log out reset my password, re-log in with Dragon Age (works fine) re-log in with Mass Effect 2, still doesn't accept my password/email combination. Can't use dragon armor can't download any other content.

Can't make a request for standard tech support, you've done a nice job burying the site.

More than a little ticked

Fix this.

You're in the wrong place.  You have a SITE problem, not a GAME problem, and should be complaining in the SITE's Help Forum.

Do Bioware ever actually solve problems or do they just take the line "we've got your money, we don't care about your problems"?

You're in the wrong forum, if you have no specific tech question.  The place for venting is the Off Topic forum.

I'd love to send this to the "right" forum. Could you tell me where that is? As I would very much like the game to work correctly.

It's called the Site Help Forum, and it's about problems using the site here, itself.  If the GAME isn't working correctly, the official support is provided by EA on their site.  This forum is for gamers to swap suggestions to one another.  Click on the Forum Home level of the forums, then scroll almost to the bottom to find the site's, the store's, the points problems, and Off Topic, all at the end there together.
