Perhaps read the readme file inside the zip?

You cannot change a zip file into a dazip and expect daupdater to install it. If the mod is in dazip format, use daupdater or damodder to install it (dazips are addin mods). some mods are override files (manually installed).. as Darth says, please read the readme text inside to know how they work.

You need to read the readme or the Description or whatever documentation is associated with the mod.  Some browsers are known to change a dazip file into a zip file during download.  If the file should have been a dazip file, you can change the extension back to 'dazip'.   If the file should have been another extension (ex. zip), then changing the extension will not let you install the mod using daupdater.
