There's other forums and threads that explain what happened (and it happened to me and I couldn't be more pissed). Here is the problem:
1. The instructions w/ the game
specifically state to redeem codes at EA.com NOWHERE does it say that you could as easily enter the code on your 360 console when you load ME2. That's is failure #1.
So those of us "stupid" enough to actually follow directions got screwed unnecessarily2.
NOT GETTING DLC AFTE ENTERING CODES? Its because you have TWO EA.com accounts somewhere. I logged into EA using the same account I used for Spore on PC. I don't ever remember registering for EA any other way, but apparently at some point in time I played an EA game on my 360 and that game had created a 2nd EA account that tied to my gamertag. That's the account I should have used but I had no clue it even existed.
Now, I'm not DUMB. There's a warning that pops up to tell you to make sure you are redeeming codes under the right account... but the problem is that there is no way to know what is the "right" account! I eventually found the correct account under a different email address... and I was SURPRISED when I logged in because sure enough, right under your email address in the profile, it will tell you your Gamertag. But I never knew it was supposed to, I can imagine a lot of people don't know that.
In other words, if you logged into EA with a NON-gamertag linked account, there is NOTHING in the profile to tell you or warn you that it's NOT linked. Where the Gamertag would appear, there's nothing. I know even EA didn't think of this (obviously), but what would have helped is if a> Where it's supposed to show a gamertag, maybe have a placeholder that states 'This Account Not Linked to any Gamertags'. Had they had something to that effect, I would have triple checked my account and b> Why couldn't the wallet system explain that to you as well? Something to the effect of, 'You're about to redeem a code on an account not linked to any consoles'. Would that have been so hard?
3. For those of you 'confused' by downloads and all that: When you redeem your code, it is good for both an Xbox 360 DLC AND the PC DLC. If you have a PC and need the PC version, then you use the download link that appears after redeeming your code. If you have the Xbox 360 version, then you don't need to do anything except start up your 360 and ME2. If you're NOT seeing the DLC, then re-read #2 above.
4. EA online help/support is like a gay man at a hornny women's convention: Useless. Bioware online states the only recourse you/we have is to call EA support. The number is in the manual, but it's NOT a toll free number. It's a long-distance #. I called this number last night, waited 50 minutes (yes, 50, because my phone tells me how long the current call is) and then got HUNG UP ON. No joke. I gave up.
Damn, f*** EA. So I haven't even played this game yet cause I also need to re-finish ME1 since my character data isn't loading there either. What a cluster f*** this is. Then I'm hearing from some friends that all the grand changes that BioWare bragged about really just makes the game easier and dumbed down which was my fear the whole time. I'm almost tempted to just return it and not bother.
I was so excited about this game and now it's all turned to frustration. I don't even know how much I care at this point.
