Well, I don't feel as bad not realizing the fast travel - camp connection now!

When I first went to the Hinterlands, I thought I needed to finish the section with only my 8 health potions and that you couldn't travel or refill those potions without finding or walking back to a camp. I spent hours traveling all over with 0 health potions, because it would take too long to backtrack all the way to the closest camp, to only then turn around and march back to where I was. Got pretty good at fighting with no potions, though! After about 10 hours in the Hinterlands, I was like, I'm never finishing this map, it's too big! I'm going back to Haven! And then I realized I could've been fast traveling the whole time, when I was just about to click on Haven and noticed the "travel" highlight on the little camps too. D'oh!

I also may have been guilty of giving Bull a berserker weapon, and cursed him for dying so fast. Uhh... sorry Bull. My bad.

Considering how utterly underwhelming and pointless the Skyhold upgrades are, I don't blame you. I definitely had higher expectations for that place than Bioware delivered. Hell, "my" castle back in BG2 (read: the one my kensai/mage was governing for a possible companion) felt like it had more content than Skyhold. Plus, it had storage. :P

Just as a question - are ANY of the drapes BLUE?  I really want blue drapes but I'm too poor to buy them all.

When I first got the Templar specialization and I was looking for the writings...like an IDIOT...I was all over Cullens office/room looking for the templar writings cuz when I think templar I think of Cullen. After about a good 15 minutes searching Cullens area it dawned on me. Cullens not even a companion, Cassandra is the templar. Literally slapped myself for it, duh lol.

I didn't know there was a road that led directly to Redcliffe Village until a guy that works at Bioware told me. I'd just been trying to climb the mountains like an idiot.

I...kind of did that, too...although what made it slightly worse is that I'd found the entrance to Redcliffe and then sort of forget where it was when it came time to actually ally with the mages. I ran around and eventually found the way back on my own, thankfully. My reaction when I got to the gate was: This looks strangely familiar...wasn't I here before? *checks map* Wait, I WAS here before...DOH!

Wandering around the Hinterlands and being distracted by other quests probably contributed to what happened - lol.

Every time you try to jump up a hill or cliff for 15 minutes, just to turn around and see a perfectly fine path leading in the direction you want. *facepalm*

The Skyhold Upgrades. Where to find them? How? ...the heck?! It took a while :P

And finally, on PC: finding out where to pause. And getting used to it. I spend hours jumping when I wanted to pause! ^^

I died seriously an uncountable number of times trying to close the rift in the Hinterlands near the farm, the one by the river. I was close to rage quitting because I could not believe the battles were going to be so difficult. Then I remembered that enemies didn't scale to your level like in previous games, and checked the levels of the demons- they're level 12. I was level 6.

Derp.

You could've used the nearby druffalo to help you.

In the first pt I couldn't understand how to break the crates during the Haven's quest, I was playing as a mage and my staff didn't seem to do anything to it (plus I was worry that there is some sort of countdown for it for some reason) and then accidentally I pressed Mind Blast.

Couldn't finish the simple horse racing quest until I discovered the G button (which basically shows that I never read the key-biding list)

Yeah destructible crates/barrels was a thing I didn't know existed until Haven as well. I shot a few arrows at the door to get to a survivor and instantly felt stupid, then thought "d'oh, get Cass you dummy."

Also... if G key allows for constant galloping without requiring you to constantly press shift... thank you. I discovered something new and I'm currently reflecting on all the times my little finger hurt doing that quest or travelling a long distance on horseback lol.

Or nvm, just checked and it is what it says: auto-run, not auto-gallop. No wonder it doesn't work. :D Oh well, it's one less key to keep pressing while mounted at least. :)

The Orlesian ones are (Same model as what you see in the winter palace). Blues drapes with a golden something pattern in them. You can see what I mean in the video below

Spoiler

You can always buy the drapes try them out and if you don't like them reload back to the vendor :)

I like the Inquisition drapes (turquoise with a golden border and tassles)

When I defeated the Red Templars on the Storm Coast hideout, after an exhausting battle, I see a wee little row boat and think to myself "What harm can come from clicking on it?"

Next scene "You are on DRAGON ISLAND".... Oh...this doesn't sound too good.

Next scene.....

Yep, until you find an obstacle or perform an action there is no need to press shift or W if G is active

edit: it does work, I've just tried it to double check, as long as you are moving you will gallop so press G and then press shift once and you are done

This happens at least once a day, here is my train of thought:

"Ok, ok, almost at the shard, that's what the last 10 minutes were all about, I walked 3 km around the mountain, managed to jump onto these 5 millimeters of usable terrain, now just one more jump and I can collect the shard. ... Ok, aiming my character in the right direction ... pressing forward and JUMP!!!!"

*PC doesn't jump properly and slides all the way down the hillside*

"D'Oh!!!"

Yeah tried it again, I wasn't on even terrain before so it kept reverting back to trotting. It does work. :D Thanks.

I need to check key-bindings more often as well it seems. :) I just went there to rebind keys 6-8 and never saw it again.

Done this sooooo many times it's not even funny anymore. Or trying to get somewhere and juuuust about do it but slide down the cliff, then come to find out you can't get there without unlocking a specific operation first (Red Water and The Trouble With Darkspawn in particular come to mind).

My most recent one is, after freaking out thinking my game was bugged because dead enemies kept reanimating and I couldn't damage them or get out of combat mode, I finally realized that was just Dorian's Spirit Mark spell working-as-intended. :?

The Inquisition drapes are light blue with yellow trim.

As for D'oh moments, making tier 3 Battlemaster Mail armor (including the Battlemaster Mail arms and legs) with all the upgrades for melee defense, only to find out shortly thereafter that melee defense maxes out at 80%.

There was a particular shard in the Hinterlands (not the one in the dragon area, it was near Master Dennet's house) that I couldn't get to. I swear... I ran all around looking for a path, or a way to parkour my way up the side. I essentially said 'screw this' and went on about my business... only to find the astrarium a few clicks away. So as I was exploring the area around there... I noticed a quest... and the shard I was trying to get to right next to it, and then a path leading right up to the damn thing! Right near the area I was hopping around at.

On that same note, I did the same thing with the cave on the Storm Coast. The one where Varric's red lyrium quest is. I must have spent 3 or 4 hours trying to get in there. I spent a lot of time trying to get into places that were blocked off. Only to realize later there were war table operations to open up certain areas :P Another one that comes to mind is the grove in Exalted Plains. Spent a lot of time trying to parkour over a rock to get there as well!

I also decided to go say hello to the Ferelden Frostback at level 5. Didn't work out to well for me! I've also fade stepped off things... and died...

From someone that played WoW for years... raided like it was a job, could jump my way up a cliff... etc I felt like a total nublet when I first started playing DA:I!

Probably jumping off cliffs and waterfalls and almost dying for the umpteenth time and wasting my potions to heal my ever-so-suicidal Inquisitor, then realizing near the endgame I could just ride a mount or cast barrier to myself to remove fall damage. Also discovering that you don't take damage at all when you jump off stuff in Skyhold, so I pretty spent majority of the game patiently walking down stairs when I could have landed on the floor like a badass.

Also not being able to find my way to Dennet's farm. I was at level 16 when I finally got him for the Inquisition, because I thought this one path with a druffalo that I can't defeat is the only way to his farm. Surprise, it isn't. ;;;;

Trying to walk across skinny boards/paths to cross a cliff or platforms one step at a time until my 2nd pt.

Falling, dying, and failing in general.

Only to realize that the inquisitor is perfectly capable of running in a straight line, but not walking in one.

It wasn't until well into my fourth playthrough that I discovered the kitchen and the wine cellar in Skyhold. And even then it was only after someone else pointed out to me where it was.

As a former MMO enthusiast I sympathize. :D I shook my head many times at the amount of simple things I'd gotten wrong or missed. I love games that make me feel like this again though.
