For some insane reason I though for a while that 'barrier bonus damage' meant that you did extra damage with active barrier

I didn't know there was a road that led directly to Redcliffe Village until a guy that works at Bioware told me. I'd just been trying to climb the mountains like an idiot.

This all over the storm coast! I just head straight for the waypoint, hopping, sliding, zigging left, zagging right....ooooo path! Bah!

This happens at least once a day, here is my train of thought:

"Ok, ok, almost at the shard, that's what the last 10 minutes were all about, I walked 3 km around the mountain, managed to jump onto these 5 millimeters of usable terrain, now just one more jump and I can collect the shard. ... Ok, aiming my character in the right direction ... pressing forward and JUMP!!!!"
*PC doesn't jump properly and slides all the way down the hillside*
"D'Oh!!!"

See, if they had just ordered the words correctly people wouldn't have been confused as much! Like, say "Bonus damage against barrier" :P

I did this and then when I finally GOT to Redcliffe it was too early in the story for me to access.

You could've used the nearby druffalo to help you.

I hadn't even gotten that quest yet! And then I avoided that whole area like the plague thinking everything was going to be L12. Sigh.

I thought I had to kill an actual dragon to get the dragon blood needed for the reaver spec. Didn't realize dragonlings counted. I put off finishing that spec for many, many levels until I was good and ready to go on a dragon killing spree.

Yep.

Yep, yep, yep.

Yessiree.

Been there, done that.

Trouble is, My bow was crafted with fade-touched obsidian. Leaping Shot is kinda like a mage's Energy Barrage. Using it = instaguard.

It's understandable considering that's how what you had to do in Origins to become a reaver.

I fade stepped of a cliff and was attacked by a bear :P

Not sure if it counts but

The cut scene where the inquisitor almost walked into the the giant spider demon with warden and hawke. Notices it and then runs back to them had D'oh written all over it.

Not knowing how to save the folks in Haven except Threnn and the templar lady. Cass was like 'I hear a survivor' and I was running around in circle trying to figure out what she's talking about.

I didn't know I can fast travel through the map while in Haven. I always thought I had to go back to the wartable and choose fast travel...

I've also fade stepped off things... and died...

Charging Bull is very good for that sort of thing, too, for us warrior types. In fact, it's especially good for embarrassing yourself even without a cliff in sight if you forget to turn it off after crashing through the enemies you were aiming at, and the rest of the party is left staring at a pack of angry baddies while their tank has charged off to Maker knows where.

For the longest time, I also failed to realize that I could in fact toggle Charging Bull off simply by hitting the associated key again, just like Shield Wall. I used to think I had to use another ability like Lunge and Slash to make it stop, or drop out of tactical mode, make my character jump, and go back into tactical.

Well, there was that one time that I created a high-end bow for Cole using the most rare and wonderful materials I had available but added a component that gave a % chance to drop Caltrops before actually testing it out.  Imagine my surprise when he shot his bow and dropped caltrops around himself instead of the caltrops coming from the arrow and falling near the enemy.  But as I said, this bow was made of endgame materials that were hard to come by, so he had to keep using it anyway...

I was about 25hrs into my first game until I realised you can fast travel to different areas within a map. All that unnecessary backtracking in the Hinterlands...

It wasn't until my second playthrough that I actually understood how crafting works, and piecing armour together with different bonuses.

Even by the end of my archer playthrough, I still hadn't stopped backflipping off cliffs with Leaping Shot.

Right, so I finish all of Hinterlands and then try to get into Redcliffe only to be stopped by the guard woman. Spent 3 hours trying to find a way to prove to her that I am the Inquisitor. Even killed the dragon believing that it would make her open the damn doors. Realized after that the main missions unlock the doors.

It took me longer than it should have to realise that missions had supply caches to fill up on health potions. I restarted Champions of the Just twice thinking I was underleveled because I kept running out of potions before the final boss fight. Only on the third try did I finally notice..

Buying staff of the void for most of my gold thanks to the model suiting my outfit... and then finding it as loot from literally the next trip out from Val Royeaux/Skyhold. :(

Getting pushed off the edge of a cliff in the Forgotten Oasis by my companions. :(

playing for the first time i was wondering why the hell NM is so easy... in the middle of the game, looking for 'turn off cinematic/awesome finishing moves' (Mythal temple) i found friendly fire option and discovered it was turned off. d'oh

well, turning it on didn't help much with difficulty/challenge, but it sure made the whole experience much more fun

OP, I'm totally with you! Had the same moments.

My greatest Moment was when I realized(through a friend who also played the game) I could create armor with a _certain sort of_ fade-touched obsidian or fade-touched onyx/silverite, so my characters got guard. THAT was The moment, yes. I danced and laughed and... well, my party never died afterwards.

(I also had a jaw-dropping moment when I realized I could craft amazing weapons that were much better than even dragon drops).

Another moment was when I started a Nightmare playthrough, started a mage quest, and me and Dorian(_without_ his skillpoints assigned, btw) got slaughtered by those two prison guards and I had to watch the whole sequence starting in Haven and Redcliffe castle all over again. Oops. We made it the second time, though!

My first playthrough and my first Dragon kill attempt(s) with Fereldan Frostback... I didn't realize my whole team had fire weaponds nor did my mages have barriers as their prefered move and so the damn lizard was resistant to all my attacks, melting my team down even though I was couple levels higher at the time. No wonder it took me ages and many curses to take that beast down :I

Wooops.

had that happen on my mage playthrough... needless to say my mage playthroughs have picked templars since then

That makes no sense.   Thanks for letting us know, saves me a similar mistake in the future when I decide to try out different masterworks.

Yup, it was an amazing moment when I crafted a bow out of dragonbone materials and proceeded to kick ass with it the rest of the game. :)

I am so classic with the names too, like, "Dragonbone Bow". :P

In my first play through, I never finished "Still Waters" because I thought that you have to go in the middle of the lake where you first see the fade rift, so I managed to completely miss the fade rift down in the tunnels.  I remember being confused that the Fade Rift that you hit right after you exit the tunnels isn't the one that you need to close.

A recent one is that I accidently set off my Rift Mage's Firestorm... on one enemy just before the boss fight.  I somehow managed to confuse it with Immolate.
