Ok, I'm not sure if I'm the only person getting this, but I'm getting very frustrated. I recently had my Xbox 360 fixed (it's been about 2 years since it broke), and I got it fixed just for ME2.
Whenever I try to load a previos ME1 save to start a new game in ME2, it tells me that a "sign-in change has occured" and that I need to sign out of my profile to continue, or restart the game.
Now obviously I am not changing my profile in the middle of the game, so I have no idea what's going on.
I decided to just try playing the game for an hour and see if I could save and then sign-in, but the save option is grayed out entirely, and if I try to sign into my Xbox profile it just gives me the "sign-in change has occured error."
What's wrong with this?

UPDATE: If I create a new game while still using my Xbox profile, there aren't any issues. However, the point of me getting ME2 was to continue my story from ME1, so I'd like some help from Bioware on how to fix my problem.

I'm having a similar issue. I haven't tried starting a new game without importing a ME1 character, but after playing for about an hour, I got this same sign-in change dialog. I got disconnected from xbox live (pretty crappy internet) right before it came up, but I was still logged into my gamer profile.
I tried logging in and out of my profile, reconnecting to live, but nothing would make the dialog go away. I was forced to restart the game... in the middle of a cut scene!
I didn't try saving manually, but my auto saves worked... so I don't know what's going on, but it was kind of frustrating. A fix or even an explanation for this would be nice.

Yeah I am having the same problem when I try to import a ME1 character, I get a message saying "A Sign In Change Has Occurred." And it forces me to restart the game. My Xbox is brand new and I am not even connected to Live. I just want to be able to continue to play my characters from ME1.

Same problem here. My xbox elite is only a couple months old too... I can't even get past the start menu screen without the error message popping up

I have that same problem. Every single time I try to play Mass Effect 2, I get that error and have to press "A" to restart. Never fails to happen. After that, it logs in ok. I've also been kicked off of XBox Live a couple of times (which for me, doesn't usually happen) and one time when it did, the entire game just stopped. I'm right in the middle of a mission and the game just goes back to the Main Menu. Luckily I had just saved a couple of minutes beforehand, but still. Annoying glitch!

Put ME1 in load a save from the character you're trying to import. Likely towards the end to defeat Saren, pause go to save delete the old save and save new, defeat Saren. Now use the ME2 ME1import utility see if that fixed it.

When it does this to me and restarts, I hit the Xbox Guide button while it's going through the opening messages and I keep it up until it gets to the main menu, it seems to skip over the error this way.

I had this same problem and I swithched hard drives, downloaded the game to the hard drive, put my hard drive in someone elses xbox and nothing worked it kept giving me the same error. I unplugged my network cable and signed in no problem and was able to transfer my ME1 character. It took me about four hours before I even thought about disconnecting the cable.

I have it happen alot myself but the primary reason is I have Xbox live connection issues from my router to my Xbox which makes me angry because my router seems to be a low signal one or something. I think that is why I get the message and cannot play the game due to the fact that I need acsess to the DLC's.
Odd part is 7 times out of 10 I can reconnect to Xboxlive when I get back to the Xboxlive main screen but when I start playing MASS EFFECT 2 I get disconnected while playing or am semi at the title screen. The other 3 times I cannot even reconnect to XBOXLive so I have to reset my router and what not.

I had the same problem but I found a very simple way to fix it by messing around with it for a while.
This worked for me, maybe it'll work for you. Note that this is how I fixed the problem, so I could play with my ME 1 character
1. Go into the game logged in with your desired profile.
2. The error should pop up, at this point log out and continue like you would to start a new game.
3. Select the option to upload your ME 1 game and continue through the menus till the game starts.
4. After the ship attack scene when you start playing the game for the first time. Try signing in, once youre done signing in the error will pop up and ask you to press A to restart. Press the button. The Game will restart and this time you should see no error, go through the menus again to start a new game and upload your character.
This worked for me and I hope it helps you guys.
BioWare need to do something about this, the game is great but we should not have to pay 60 bucks for a game and have to find out on our own how to make it run. Even more so for those of us in Iraq, with no way to log on to Live and update our games. (or anybody that doesnt have live for that matter)

So, I was having this same issue, scoured the internet for an answer. Contacted customer support, they had no idea what was going on. Turns out, it's because I had my 360 connected to my network, but my network wasn't connected to the internet. Probably caused by the EA Account crap trying connect. So simply unplugging the ethernet cable made all those damn "sign-in change error occurred" messages go away.
Figured I'd hit this "old" thread in case someone else ends up running into the problem as well. Now I can finally play this incredibly awesome game.

Gonna necro this thead again (sorry), but it seems like BioWare won't be able to keep people from pirating the DLCs with this new problem. Hmm, seems like it would be in their best interest to fix this, eventually anyways.

AH ha, thanks Skoad, I'll try that once I get out of work later this morning.

I've encountered this problem too, and it's simply because my internet connection is archaic. Like something you'd unearth on a dig site.
So to solve the problem, simply disconnect your xbox from xbox live.

I believe lazuli is right. Here is why:
- You played ME1 and more than likely downloaded DLC for it, while connected to xbox live.
- You no longer have internet connectivity, but your ethernet cable is plugged in. You're trying to import a game save now from ME1, and when it does this, it's trying to pull the DLC authorization information from EA Servers. No internet connection is causing a "sign in change" error. This is simply EA trying to verify you own the content, but it is unable to and cannot continue.
If you remove the ethernet cable from the back of your xbox, then problem solved
Make sense?

ryguy512 has got it right. When I first got ME 2 I had no problem importing my first character. However after I downloaded a few of the DLC for ME 2 I was having problems importing my second character. I had my 360 hooked up to my computer so I could listen to music while I played and when I unplugged the ethernet cable every thing sorted itself out. No more Sign-in change error and no problem importing my Infiltrator.

I agree with NYguy and Lazuli, for those using the wifi option on the 360 slim, simply sign out of your internet account and the problem is solved.
It still sucks that Bioware haven't dealt with this and that none of their staff on this forum have bothered to grace this thread with a reply. Shame on you Bioware, your customer support is appalling.
