I thought it was pretty clear that Shinnok was the villain. Or, rather, a villain. Maybe not necessarily the main villain, but I would be sure that he is, assuming MKX continues what MK9 did and retell the story of MK4.
Little to no news on Reiko outside of the MKX comics sadly

Liu Kang should just stop being in MK games.
Nobody at NetherRelm likes him. So why they keep bringing him back or replacing him with worse characters (Shujinko and Taven) I'll never understand.
A real surprise returning character would be MoCap tbh.

I was basing it off of Ed Boon's comment, Shinnok would be too obvious for a surprise and Reiko is now too obvious given the comics

So people are able to defend against the environmental objects in MKX? Thank god, I hated playing against people in Injustice who would wait to use all of the interactables before they actually bothered to fight. On the other hand, it was really satisfying throwing a statue or AC unit at someone and knowing they couldn't stop it.
I do hope that the guard command is actually mapped to a button this time and not pulling back on the move stick like in Injustice. I hated that.
Pretty sure they're keeping a dedicated block button for this game, and any future Mortal Kombat games.

Only saving grace is that he's better at that role than Shujinko and Taven. Which isn't hard to do.
But Cassie Cage seems to be taking the protagonist slot. So Liu has no point being here.
Only time he was a good character was in the first movie anyway. Any other time he's woefully boring.

That's why they bring Kuai Liang in his human form. His cyborg version is very divisive to the fanbase.
Wrong, that was Raiden. He's the one who got visions from his future self and change the timeline, not Johnny. Johnny Cage gets his ass kicked by Cyrax during the first tournament, by Ermac during the second one and by Shao Kahn during his invasion.

Thats your answer right there, based on the preview the first part of the game cover the NetherRealm War with EarthRealm & Outworld against Shinnok's & Quan-Chi undead army along with the Brotherhood of Shadow. Since Quan-Chi controls all the undead fighters beating him may end up freeing them

On Ermac, I like his hooded outfit, a ninja mask is not really required since hes been portrayed as more sorcerer-like since his reappearance in Deception

They did say the characters are getting more skins but less than Injustice, Ermac is getting a Pharaoh Skin in the Horror Pack

I like that skin for Ermac. His MKX skin looks sort of like this one, but his face mask is torn up and you can see his mouth. I don't like its look.
