How do we unlock specific options at the speech at Skyhold? The speech influences many things, including who'll be the next divine, but I have trouble unlocking the specific dialogue to role-play my inquisitor.

One variable I know of is the dialogue with Cassandra: "Do you believe in the Maker?"

But I can't find the other speech options. Does anyone know the circumstances to unlock each dialogue path?

A <race> will stand for us all.
I'll set an example as a mage.
I fight for order, not faith.
I'll be a servant of faith.
I'll do it because it's right.
I will lead them to vengeance.
Corypheus must be stopped.
I'll do it for my own power.

Apparently the following are mutually exclusive:

I'll be a servant of faith.
vs.
I fight for order, not faith.
-Depends on whether your inquisitor believes in the Maker.

I'll do it because it's right.
vs.
I will lead them to vengeance.
Anyone knows the circumstance for this exclusivity?

I'd be curious about the conditions for that second set, as well. My faithful Inquisitor got the following options:

"Corypheus must be stopped."

"I will lead them to vengeance."

"I'll be a servant of faith." (Picked this one.)

"I'll do it for my own power." (Yeah ... no. What kind of leader would say that publicly, anyway?)

The selection would have been improved by having "because it's right" in there, too.

I believe that there are several points (in Haven) when you can express whether you believe in the Maker or not. Among them, convo with Cassandra and other companions in Haven.

I can never get the because it's right option. I would like to know how to trigger it.

I have used the because it is right line.  You say you do not believe in the Maker when asked at Haven, always, BUT your other conversations you have to be kind, just, a good guy, do the right thing when given a choice and it will be there.  If you do all that but say at any time you believe in the Maker, or might believe...like "I don't know", "I'm not sure", it wont pop up.

I never get "I'll do it because it's right" why is that? It'd perfect for how my Inquisitor is, and how she does things, but I always have to choose to make Cory pay.

I've noticed that i've gotten the servant of faith and order, not faith in the same set up multiple times.
Usually because my Inquisitor (yes, ive played the same character multiple times, not very role play like but still) is more or less Agnostic.
Usually he counters answers to questions where the opposing person answers with "well the Maker..." with any "what does the Maker have to do with this? i'm trying to renew my subscription to "Naughty Dalish women monthly!"
And he's human
Or by answering Cassandra and Leliana's questions regarding his faith by using the "i can't really say" retort.

From my experience, this shows up if you are at least agnostic. I know that explicitly atheist characters (pick "i don't believe in the maker" when talking with cass and gisselle, and "i still don't believe" when you wake up after heaven and talk with gissele) loose that option. Apparently, atheists can't fight for what's right  .

I was speaking from a meta point, about Bioware's logic when they created the dialogue options. The religious fanaticism present in these types of setting is why I usually steer clear of such stories...if i think about it, i don't think i played any other game or read any stories that take place in medieval European setting.

The mage line was best line. "I'll lead by standing with them, not above them."

Huh, I didn't know speech options could be blocked out and I always pick the "because it's right" option. I prefer all the agnostic answers so I guess that's why.

I believe you don't get any approvals for that "A <race> will stand for us all" option. I remember doing it in my first Dwarf playthrough and no approvals were given.

According to the wiki, it does give points for the Divine election however.

IIRC,  dorian approves (at least for elves), while sera will disapprove of elves saying that, but will approve of other races

I thought I did that. I'll try again.

Nothing pleases Sera, although, I don't usually recruit her during Haven.

Well, she does greatly approve of "because it's right".

I need more power! She should definitely approve.

Not sure if it helps, but the option "I'll do it because it's right" was available to me with Templar conscripted, and a generally indecisive character on the matter of faith.

When I allied with the Templar that option wasn't avalaible to me, plus my char was full agnostic.

While having this option I allied with the mages.

I finally found my post on a thread that dealt with the same problem:

After reading this i decided to sit through that dreadful musical scene two time in a row with two of my elf mage inquisitors (both rejected being the herald, but one said she believes in the creators in the first talk with cassandra and chose "fanatical belief is to blame" before finding skyhold, the other one said she doesn't believe when talking with cass and chose "I still don't believe" before skyhold) And my option were the following:

For the first one: 1 I'l do it for order, not faith, 2. I'll do it because it's right 3.Corypheus must be stopped 4.I'll do it for my own power. 6. The special dialogues (elf + mage)

For the second one: 1 I'l do it for order, not faith, 2.Corypheus must be stopped 3.I'll do it for my own power. 4.I'll lead them to vengeance 6. The special dialogues (elf + mage)

So, in conclusion, that option is tied to the inquisitor's belief in gods.

So it's either a bug, or is strictly for agnostic (picking the uncertain responses only, not even once picking a dialogue option saying you believe or don't believe in the maker)

I'd love the "because it's right" option for my devout Andrastian. The "for faith" option doesn't mention the Maker or Andraste, but it's kind of implied when a known believer speaks of dedicating something to faith -- and that is a bit too in-your-face for my Inquisitor. The Inquisition doesn't consist only of Andrastians, nor does it only serve and protect Andrastians, and she wouldn't want anyone who doesn't share her faith to feel unwanted, unappreciated, or fear that they couldn't come to her for help unless they convert.

She raised the people's flag at Therinfal, partly because she believes that helping people serves the Maker too and is more important than mouthing praise. Actions over words, especially in a time when much of the Chantry is too busy with itself to look after those it should care for.
