Hello. I am doing my first Nightmare playthrough and I have some problems with physical dmg output. My characters are currently level 10 and I just realized that since I unlocked Skyhold that my DW rogue and Cassandra are doing just terrible, terrible damage. While Solas and Dorian are kicking thousands of damage, my rogue Shadow Strikes an enemy from Stealth with Cheap Shot and Ambush for barely 50 damage, Cassandra deals 10-50 dmg with abilities. Which is all wierd. The daggers have 190 DPS, Cassandras 1h mace have 115 dps. Stats are good. The gear of the rogue and Cassandra have even higher overall item level then the mages has.

What the heck is wrong? Why are there suddently such HUGE dmg differences between physical and elemental?

Thanks

Edit: Tested other companions. Same applies to all of them, elemental damage is fine, physical is trash.

The dagger dps should be mid 200's to low 300's at skyhold, have you crafted any T2 schematics with T2 mats? What enemies are you noticing this on, if it's only warrior style enemies then its fine, they are heavily armored and without skill synergy you probably won't do much damage against them, how do you fare against archers/mages? Try to go for more sundering effects, like twin fangs from flank, or the passives that sunder on crit. The only difference between elemental and physical is enemy armor, so if you hit high armor penetration your problem should disappear.

Dont look at item level, ignore dps and instead look at Damage as dps adds runes etc to its rating which is extremely misleading.

Yep might have a 100 DPS that does 72 damage and a 90 DPS that does 80 damage.

cassandras weapon is pretty bad, yours are ok.

Kinda need more info from you unless you like sifting through a bunch of random shots in the dark.

What are you fighting?

What are the stats?

What are your skills?

Where are you fighting?

Armor reduces physical damage, but doesn't affect magic damage.  Supposedly Armor*2 is subtracted from every hit.  The minimum damage per hit is 1.  Go into tactical mode to see how much armor an enemy has.

Best solution is to get better gear (+attack and high-damage weapons).  There's also sundering abilities and Ambush for rogues.

Which isn't as silly as it sounds. If you take away all their gear they still have a default load out so you may not even realize they're not geared.

Happened to me in the Winter Palace quest. Remembered to re-equip the party's armour, but not their weapons.

I remember thinking "this difficulty spike is insane!".

Interesting, doing nothing more then just restarting the game have fixed the problem, physical dmg get boosted and elemental squished. Interesting
