I'll go with...
The Hissing Wastes (ancient surface dwarf ruins were a nice change of pace)
Emprise du Lion (big fan of snowy levels)
Crestwood (initial, dark version)

Really love Emerald Graves, I just love forests. Hissing Wastes gave us something that so rarely happens in games, a desert in night time - it was absolutely beautiful.
In fact I was really happy with this game. In most rpgs, you end up in areas of devastation or later stages becoming generally unpleasant to reflect evil/desolation in some obvious way. It was great to not have that here, just interesting locations as well as the rest of the content set in them.

Crestwood - perfect dynamic (before - heavy and gloomy; dark descent - best level transition ever; after - bright and warm), engaging map-story. that map was just... bestest
Hissing Wastes - i love spaceflight sims. that map reminds me of them. see an awesome nebula few light years away? let's check it out! my hand hurts of pressing W (no way i'm using mount, i want banter, damn it!), but whatever. no quest indicators, no hand-holding and it'd be perfect. would like to find more extra lore info, but i'm not that picky ![]()
oh, and i hate Hinterlands!

Eh... I got lost in a courtyard there and had to reload a few times to avoid taking an unreasonably large hit to my court approval, so... definitely not a fan of that place... lol... xD
I guess if I look past the court approval mechanics and the need to flee from battles because of that meter, it was a nice enough place to visit...

Tough call, I liked the environments in the Emerald Graves, the atmosphere of the storm coast, thought that the Western approach had some of the most interesting ruins structures etc... and Hinterlands had the largest size and most content. For some reason I am not fond of the exhalted planes. I guess I get sick of the bands of wondering demons and wolves.

1. Emprise du Lion - so many interesting old buildings in there, and I love snowy environments. Also, moar dragons!
2. Storm Coast - it's a simple map, but I love looking at the big sea waves. I also like that you can get to an island via boat.
3. Emerald Graves - I love the big trees and wild nature.
I actually love all of the maps for different reasons, so it was hard to pick my fave three.
I would have loved for a chance to explore the Winter Palace without worrying for the Court Approval.

I'm the kind of person who barely notices the world he's moving through IRL and that translates into gaming too. The only game that has ever really made me sit up and take notice was Bioshock Infinite. That being said; I liked the waves on the Storm Coast (even though the complete nothingness if you went under them was kinda jarring), I have a love/hate (mostly hate) relationship with the Hissing Wastes. I've only been there once and at that stage I was pretty tired of trekking through huge expanses of map and I rushed through it. I think I could like it though. I also liked the cliff where you fight that dragon in the Emerald Graves. The Arbor Wilds was interesting, maybe just because the vegetation seemed so different. Mythal's temple was cool too.

Not really. I do feel however that it's kind of small for a palace. I like looking up at the ceiling. ![]()

It depends for me.
If we're talking about just how pretty they look, I would have to say Emerald Graves and hmm.. Hissing Wastes (but only because it's pretty because I hate that map with a passion, jesus it's so huge and boring and pointless. I wouldn't touch it if it weren't for the loot and schematics). Oh and I really liked the tropical look of the Arbor Wilds.
If we're talking about prettiness and story combined then probably Crestwood and Emprise Du Lion (even though they could've been so much better on the story part. e.g. the alpha footage of Crestwood).

Crestwood
Western Approach
Emprise Du Lion
I haven't been there yet, but from what I've seen I'll probably enjoy the Emerald Graves.

You know, if you asked which map was the worst, I couldn´t answer. They are all fantastic! Just a pity that, despite all effort, they still do not fill as open world like as Skyrim did for me. But that might also have to do with the overly gameish loot mechanics and skill system.

Most Favorite:
1) Crestwood
2) Western Approach
3) Hinterlands
I loved these areas because the main quests actually led us to these areas and they weren't just there for explorations sake and grinding power and influence.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Least Favorite:
1) Forbidden Oasis
2) Hissing Wastes
3) Exalted Plains
I just found these areas either frustrating or boring to explore.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Honorable Mentions:
1) Emerald Graves
2) Emprise du Lion
3) Storm Coast
I liked these areas, I just wish the main quest actually had some part in these areas; other than just side quests, exploration, and grinding.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Favorite Story Area:
1) Halamshiral Winter Palace
2) the Arbor Wilds

From what I read here, most people seem not too fond of the exalted plains, so I want to go and jump to it's defense a little.
I thought it really worked as a "war map", with all the destruction and makeshift ramparts around (reminded me of pictures of World War I). Then, in the middle of all this ugliness, you have the dalish camp, who really have a reason to frown at the dirty violent shems in this situation. Add to that all these outright racist war monuments from the "good old" exalted march and I thought the entire industry/war machine vs. nature & hippie theme really worked and was implemented very well.
My problem was that I went there too early in the game (basically right after getting Skyhold) and I had no idea what the hell was actually going on. They should have made this map available only when the story takes you there, so I have some connection and perspective on the events and it would have been a much better experience for me I think.
Still, the map itself is really well made and thematically it works perfectly IMO.

Storywise Crestwood...only criticism would be difficulty, or lack of. Easiest dragon fight.

Well frankly my least favorites are
Hinderlands: It's well balanced but I hate how the place is put into like zones like mountain zones, castle zone, ruin zone, and town zone.
Forbidden Oasis: Unlike Western Approach it's more like going in a basin or a huge ditch. It mainly consists of bridges and rocks.
Hissing Wastes: It's dark and open desert. I swear there isn't much going on.

The Hissing Wastes were fun, loved the dwarven tombs.
I liked the Emerald Graves, it was chilling and mysterious
I didn't like the Storm Coast. It was annoying to navigate.

1. Hissing Wastes because I loved the desert night air and the dwarven ruins
2. Emerald Groves because I loved how it felt truly like a real mysterious and ancient forest.
3. The Storm coast, I enjoyed the mountainous coastal area interspersed with dwarven ruins.(really for a people who supposable hated the surface they seem to have left a lot of ancient ruins there.)

The Arbor Wilds - Utterly gorgeous. Only wish it was bigger!
The Forbidden Oasis - If only I could build a chateau there...
The Emerald Graves - I only wish you could lie down and watch the trees sway...
Honorable mention... The Hissing Wastes. My favorite place to just ride around in...
