I've managed to remap keys to suit myself but my biggest issue with the control scheme is more a quirk in the system. Nothing like going into tac cam, switching from a melee to range to set up a barrier or some cc and it auto un pauses because of what appears to be distance between the characters. Leaving your melee, especially a rogue at unnecessary risk for a least a split second.

If they fix that I am content.

There is a recognizable limit to range... if you're ranged characters are pulled beyond the arena limit of distance they are respawned. It has to unpause to respawn them. Essentially if this didn't happen you would be able to regenerate characters outside of battle. So it forces your hand to an arena. One tip though is if you disengage command it should respawn party member to your location... or at least send them back toward your location. When I am trying to scout an area or avoid a group I usually have to spam disengage to get around them because the AI of party members wants to ready up when an enemy has spotted them.

So in the end there is nothing to fix there... however that's another good enhancement request to show a mini-map indicator or some warning of what that arena size is. These are all positive changes to the game that never come to light because controlling the sprite is too difficult out of the box. I really wished they had made some sort of contact we would have been past this hurdle 2 months ago.

Nah not quite that far where they would auto teleport. Within barrier range which makes it strange and not a common occurance.

I know having an aoe open with auto pause and going into tac cam unpauses so I am wary of that.

I tried replicating it during a quick attempt of the pride demon battle in the prologue to get a SS but to no avail. Next time it happens I'll take a SS. It's a rare thing but I have had it happen.

Well, going to tac cam cancels AOE's... that is a big deal. I would definitely put that on the list for things needing a fix. If you had tac cam pause enabled in options that would get rid of the unpausing... but yeah it cancels your AOE and most of the time I pick an AOE then change my mind about placing it in 3rd person. Pain in the butt.. you have to remember to tac cam first then aoe.

Ever had your character stuck in an awkward place so you switch to another?

Tac cam does work as long as you go out of it before you unpause.

yep... I've had party members climb cliffs that I can't make it up also and switching gets everyone up. I talk to myself while gaming... I've yelled at Cassandra for b-hopping around me and making it up a tough slope. If you want space to climb without them in your face make sure to hold position before you start up a cliff... I love the environments in this game so fun. I took a break  for a while I'm not sure if nightmare makes you care for all party members. It used to in origin.

What I mean by that is... if your party member fell or walked into danger they would die or take dmg even if not player controlled. Have to be conscious of what I'm saying here too it has to stay spoiler free :D

Yup, playing primarily as a melee though helps to avoid that as you don't have many targeted AOE's to deal with. I did it a lot originally with my mage but clicked on quickly to the cause. It does need fixing but it is avoidable with some thought.

agreed not a deal breaker but is something that would help. I think if I used a mage through the whole game my brain would be re-wired.

In the end, I made this post to only speak to people looking to get help or in accord with implementing working controls. I can't deal with the majority of the origin community. Reminds me of steam about 10 years ago. All very young and inexperienced. Just not very resourceful as a whole. A handful of hastily made reviews and they throw their hands up... pretty laughable. Hopefully, you'll smash it into their brains, I no longer have the patience for most of it. Definitely not while doing it on my dime. It was cool sharing a few ideas tonight with you guys I will check back in a week or so to see what's up.
