I'm at the beginning of the game and it's time to get there.

I keep trying but it always crashes during the loading screen.

Just don't tell me the save file is corrupted. This already is a character I started over for that reason, after 3 hours in.

If so, how do I prevent it from happening for the third time?

And if it's not corrupted, how do I work around it?

I'm on the PS3.

You could contact EA Help. They have a callback function, and they will work with you to troubleshoot the issue. PS 3 has a much more limited ability to manipulate data saved on the hard drive, so I'm not sure how many troubleshooting options there are, but the first step would be to uninstall everything related to DA:I (this shouldn't do anything to your save files) and then re-install everything.

OP is playing on PS3, so most of those aren't an option, unfortunately.

Take your DAI disk out,

Turn off your PS3 for two-three mins.

Turn on your PS3 (without DAI disk in)

Insert disk and try to load again.

Also if you have more than one save try loading another save file.

It doesn't look good for you, I'm afraid.

Delete even the patches?

I don't suppose that's something you can obtain twice.

Yes, in fact, once the patches are gone, you'll be prompted to re-install them automatically the next time you try to run the game while connected to PSN (assuming that everything goes as it should.)

I did that yesterday and it didn't work.

Then I deleted my recent save files and started over from half way the tutorial level.

This time I made it to the Hinterlands, but when I got to Mother Giselle the game automatically skipped the whole cutscene.

Then I reloaded, and the game froze during the loading screen in every attempt.

It's an endless nightmare.

Tbh this sounds like a problem with the PS3, if the cutscene just skipped like that. Your PS3's RAM may be going bad, try contacting EA Customer support, then Sony if EA has no fix.

I'd wager only Americans can resort to that.

In any case, I believe this only happens with one of my characters.

And worse yet, the game almost always freezes when loading a save file.

Buy a PS4.

PS3 can't handle the assault.
