I need help with this quest, I think that it is broken. I get to the specific area of the quest and we I see the dead mage with arrows, Solas says his line the Varric says its bandits. Then I walk down the path to this huge monster trapped by these green posts and nothing happens, no cutscene... nothing! I have loaded past saves and the same issue keeps arising and I dont know how to fix it. The game says that I have completed the first part of the quest and nothing else, please help!

Yes I have an it will not break, I looked up a walkthrough on youtube and when you see the giant monster there should be a cutscene

Port back to Skyhold and back to Exalted Plains. If the cutscene does not trigger, repair the game and repeat the porting. If it still doesn't work, well, I'm afraid you're stuck unless you want to try loading an earlier save and march straight to that spot to see if it will trigger.

I know you need Solas in your party, but is there anyone else you need for this quest besides him?

Your usual party members besides Solas or you can just bring Solas. You just need to knock down 4-5 barriers, not magic barriers, I'd call them pillars.

Wow. You can't attack the pillars around the demon? I presume the cut scene kicked in. Try running away from that area until you're out of combat, make a separate save and do that porting trick to see if it'll shake loose the bug.

There are no enemies. In the cutscene, Solas is angry with the mages for summoning the spirit and twisting its purpose. He wants to free the demon. If you agree, the cutscene ends and the pillars become 'enemies' that you can destroy. I've always agreed to it so I don't know if there's another effect if you think the demon has to be killed rather than saved.

If you've tried what I suggested, repair and so on and still cannot get the cutscene, then Solas's personal quest is broken. You'll just have to wait until it's fixed. In the wiki, it's listed there's a third quest after this but that one too, is glitched for most people.

I have found that, often, on the personal quests where there's a cutscene, it will not trigger at all if you don't have a full party. You don't mention if you just bring Solas, but if so, try again with a full party.

I have found this effects Dorian's quest as well. I have tried, tested in 3 different playthroughs now (so, yes, it's either a bug or intentional design; I suspect the former, given I'm on PC), to take only Dorian and have found that going into the tavern gets me the empty tavern, but no cutscene. The only way I could get it to work was to go back to Skyhold and fill my party. Then it works fine every time.

I just loaded an earlier save on a completed game to try that on Solas' quest and had the same thing happen (Solas only = no cutscene, full party, works fine).

i have a full party all the time with Casandra, Solas and Varric, and no cutscene

Try loading your party in this order when you travel to Exalted Plains, or in camp:

Solas

Varric or Cole

Iron Bull or Blackwall

 

I've never taken any others but, I know all of those work. Solas may need to be first in the party.

The bug varies and I sure wish to know just what issue set them off. I had the Dorian quest bug, first PT, and it doesn't matter whether I have a full party or not. The cutscene will not trigger until I close the game, repair and go back to Redcliffe. The second patch fixed this and I don't have the problem in other PTs.

 

Regards the Solas quest. I really have no idea what it could be, VGD52. Maybe you ought to try jiggling with graphic settings. Or perhaps flush out your computer by defragmenting or something. I don't play with any mods except that command line to boost the fp.

Im playing on ps4 and i have doing a little research and its a huge problem for a lot of people. I am also having bugs with other quests ONLY in the Exalted Plains

Oh, I thought you're on computer. It helps if you state which platform you're playing on in subject title.   As it is, the ball is in Bioware's court.

Dunno if anyone has said this yet, but sometimes you have to backtrack and find the other bodies. I think there are about 3 places where Solas will say something and then it should trigger the cut scene when you approach the summoning circle. That glitch happens a lot if you approach from the path that leads directly to the circle. Hope this helps.

I have heard that about the bodies but where are they all located?

I have gotten this bug on 2 of my pts and been able to just follow the trail of blood to the other bodies and then return and it triggers.
