Master Race: tougher enemies-easier controls
Console Peasant: easier enemies-tougher controls

=Balance

This is true until you become very good on PC and find the tough enemies not so tough anymore. But the tough controls on consoles still remain since it has a lot of limitations compared to Mouse/Keyboard and cannot be overcome no matter how good you become on console.

I have noticed from scoreboard screenshots that game times are consistently shorter for Gold & Platinum on PC compared to the ones posted by console players.

Running the pizzas on an objective will easily knock off a minute from the game time. The considerably more powerful weapons on PC will have the same effect.

How many people on here play more than one platform, BTW? I can think of half a dozen who may be in a good position to compare.

Mostly, yes.

There's also a frame rate cap difference. Consoles are limited in that respect and the difficulty on both is tied to that. If you land in a lobby where someone has ramped that up to 120 fps you find yourself eating a lot of dirt until you get used to it.

This is true but, for me, it proves that PC offers better controls, not that PC players are in average better than consoles players.

There are several factors which concur for faster times on PC : the better accuracy of the mouse (hence higher ratio of headshots), the possibility to sprint with the pizzas, to get an unlimited amount of consumables, a better Reegar...

As you said yourself, the better accuracy of the ennemies on PC is less problematic once you start to have a good level of experience in the game. So, I assume that the game is harder on PC for beginners, but easier for skilled players.

PC players are better because they have better control over the game. It is like motor racing where all drivers are of almost equal skill but the ones driving the faster cars do much better. Point is PC lets you reach your full potential while consoles limit your potential.

I see, we don't have the same definition of "better". For you better = perform better.

For me, better = perform better in the same conditions. To test it, we would have to make consoles players play on PC, and see whether they can match the PC players performances. That's, of course, impossible.

To test it properly, we'd have to have console players play on PC and PC players play on console. There would be some very surprised facial expressions.

Yes, that's actually what I was thinking about, but I just put the short version.

How can I dislike a post ?

Still comparing performances with different systems. But the second part of the article is more interesting : there is likely a higher ratio of "pro" players on PC than on consoles.

I've been playing "The Last Of Us" on PS3 for a bit recently (yeah, yeah, late to the party - I'm a PC gamer first and foremost) ... awesome game, shooting still sucks on consoles.

I have a hunting rifle, there's a group of 4 military/cop types ahead of me who aren't yet sure where I am, the options are:

1: shoot them

2: sneak and attempt to stealth kill them

3: sprint at them and mash the punch button until they all fall over

Option 3 was, for me, by far the easiest.

This

Joking aside it's 2 very different ways of playing, I for one don't like game pads and definately prefer KB and mouse. There is a reason for why I guess all? competitive and co-op multiplayer games are platform specific as opposed to cross-platform, the per-conditions differ to much.

More satisfying yes - but weirdly probably has a higher chance of failure (death and back to the last checkpoint) than just charging and punching them, the AI isn't quite bag-of-nails dumb when it comes to stealth kills. If they notice a body they go onto alert mode.

Hmmm... it occurs to me that I even play The Last Of Us like a Krogan!

Unfortunately, when pure ego and one-upmanship are all that matters, no room is left for intelligent discussion.

And for that reason, I'm out.

Easier controls? Try playing with a touchpad!

I chipped a nail yesterday during a firece Cerberus match.

OT I play PC and all PUG games. And I use silver a lot to test out new things. I find a great many low N7 players on silver, so MP still is going strong. And those low N7 players are pretty good, unless they go too soon to gold.

My PS3 is as pristine as on the day I bought it a couple of years ago.  I think I have less than 3 hours gaming on it despite having also bought 10 games or so.  I suck at any game without a mouse and keyboard.

No need to wait, get it right now:

Mass Effect 3

or

Mass Effect 3 N7 Digital Deluxe Edition

That site is a scam, in case you weren't aware of that.

Hey, there are still people who don't run pizzas on PC :P

Or well, there will be when I start playing again XD

And there have been many players here who've played on different platforms through time, but I guess most are gone by now. Anyway, I have no doubt that the vast majority of them would say, and have said, that the skill ceiling is higher on PC. Because that's exactly what FTL has been trying to say, I think XD
