High: played a Gold where everyone scored more than 100k.
Low: before that, failed miserably to solo Talon Merc against Collectors.

In that case Arkhne you can host when playing with me. I have better experiences (or less frame skipping) off host. The only exceptions are heavily host dependent kits like Slayer, Shadow, Drellguard, and melee Paladin.
^^^^^^^^^ Congrats, you need a lots of skill for that. ![]()
High: Got to see x3lander play - very cool.
Low: Lagged badly, wasn't awarded any credits, lost all my consumables.
Low: Rio Gold Reaper Wave 10, Escort under the nose of spawn point. Used all rockets but wiped. Got stomped by a Marauder.
High: 10 minutes ago I dreamed of a Batarian Slasher on FBW who lashed a phantom beneath his feet and stomped her.
tl:dr I love the game on-host, I hate it off-host. My connection is pretty damned good (almost non-existent ping, almost always 25mbps both directions, usually 35-40) but the game's coding makes playing off-host fking awful.
Your host is excellent to play on, even if getting in and out of the lobbies can seem even worse than what I think of as normal - I might even bring a Fury sometime. ![]()

I'm with you - I much prefer playing off-host as I can cope with lag better than general loss of frames which I always get if I host more than one game at a time. My internet connection is generally pretty poor and unreliable, so I really don't like the thought of inflicting it on others. That said, I used to play with some guys who preferred me to host as it seemed pretty solid to them.
I wouldn't have thought of the Shadow as being particularly tough off-host though, and as hinted at above I would say the Fury is far more vulnerable to lag. I also play a melee Paladin without regard to the host's quality, but I guess it can go wrong sometimes. Probably still worth it though. I know everything Arkhne says about off-host coding and BS in general is right enough, but it really has never bothered me much unless we're talking serious rubberbanding. The Kishock, Graal and Crusader are three of my favourite weapons, despite their reputation as being host dependent. In truth, the only thing that has ever really made me lose my rag is Poison Strike, so I reluctantly skip it most of the time.
Recent low is my inability to stay connected, due to my aforementioned crappy internet.
400ms is a GREAT ping for NSW. Best Ping I ever got for anything when I lived there was 300ms
....
I occasionally play on Cleocide's host and iirc, he is in Brisbane. The ping is usually around 150-200 msec and the game is generally playable with most of the classes apart from those that are specifically lag-sensitive. I presumed that ping in Sydney should be at least as good as ping in Brisbane. However, he cannot play squishy and sensitive kits like Fury on my host and he always rages and complains. So, not sure.
... Australians and Russians should get their own servers so they don't lag everybody else's games. ....
Russians usually fair slightly better and are mostly playable. Worst cases of lags are with South Africa, Alaska, and some places in the Caribbean like West Antilles. Also, China is generally very variable. Big hubs like Shanghai and Beijing usually do well under 200 msec.
Anyhow, what I wanted to say was that regional locking has been tried in DAI:MP and it did no good. On the contrary, it accelerated the demise of the franchise as people could not find any games and friends could not connect normally. IMHO, some intermediate local servers would be much better at cutting down the lag instead of blocking the connections outright. Not sure if it is possible.
In my case, ME3 Bioware server is in California (ping 8-12 msec), Origin is in Virginia (ping around 12 msec) and store for ME3 is in UK (ping about 80 msec). Heartbeat comes from somewhere near New York with ping around 30 msec but it has no meaningful function, just makes sure you are online. I am myself on the East Coast.
^^^ No problem buddy..I hope that you get you power back soon. That BOTB was the fastest death I have ever seen.
High: A random got talking to me and Jer in our games earlier, got our names mixed up. Thought Jer was a girl, we laughed, I had to correct him. I said no worries, Jer be butch which resulted in a not so PC impression of a steroid taking woman from Jer. The pills didn't take! Laughed too hard at that, you're just the worst kind of person man! ![]()
Also managed to catch Nightman for one quick silver game, we exchanged Always Sunny in Philadelphia quotes, that's friendship material tbh. ![]()
Low: It was super late on my end so I could only catch Nightman for one game, plus I was sleepy and scrubby and sleepy and died alot. Actually I die alot even when I'm fully awake, nvm. Next time I'll have to get more games in with ya. ![]()
^^^^ That was a fun game dude....also,,funny how you said the friendship thing with the Always Sunny in common...exactly what I was thinking..I think we could quote that show back to each other for quite a few matches..my drunkeness was kicking in..the episode I wanted to say....was the one where they were quarantined..and when they figured out the real reason they were sick was hilarious......I hope we can get some more matches in sometime. Sleep well my friend, also..the episode where Dee got her hand stuck in the mouse trap and they all decided screw it and started inhaling gasoline.
low: that was a reactor hazard game...nobody got cooked.

I'll end up watching a few tomorrow, just know it. A day well spent tho.
Goodnight! ![]()

I play melee Paladin off host as well, even got used to it. Then I hosted as one and felt the power one could have when Ho Smacking is inescapable on reaction and Energy Drain buffing actually works. The Shadow can be hit or miss vs Geth and Collectors in particular. I got my ass handed to me last off host game vs geth. It was a frustrating nightmare. SS not working when I wanted to, heavy melees whiffing. Fury doesn't seem bad at all to me. Drain on AF goes a long way in case I get in deep. Crasader doesn't bother me. Its the same on host as well to me, same with Kishock (and I rarely miss with Kishock). Graal can be annoying though.

The problem with Fury is AH priming delay, if you play offhost a lot, I guess you could get used to it. But since I am used to hosting, I usually throw them just before they are primed, then see a glowing blue enemy flying or staggering. The delay isn't great, basically just the animation for throw, but it is enough to throw the rhythm off.
OT:
Low: Bad Pugs Everywhere. My god Silver PUGs are the worst, and the unrelenting store decided I need thermal clip pack capacity more than medigel or missiles.
High: Unlocked Juggernaut, and medigel capacity. With Armoured Compartments, I now get 3 missiles, and 3 medigel. Time to carry a few scrubs on Gold to try and rectify this situation (already carried a shadow last night, too 37mins though, bit rusty it seems).
Ultra low: Still haven't ran into Crimson again ![]()

How'd you get these results? I've been trying to do this on my VPS with CommView to see how the whole P2P system worked in ME3 and where the pings varied. Got no luck thus far as I kept getting a clutter load of random IPs streaming from the server (came from Canada and UK as you mentioned) I guess that was me getting a taste of the people trying to buy stuff from MP. Hmm, very interesting. I assumed it was all hosted in Edmonton.

But that would mean jolly cooperation for me to abandon my dear magnificent sun. Besides, I got Virgin Mobile.
High: fire explosion killstreak on wave 1
Low: dying exactly 5 seconds later.
Thanks lag, you're the best.

For the record, your host works quite well for me. At least it that that one time we tried to duo, but whenever we played on your host, I don't remember having any problems.
High. Running around and winning a match armed with only one weapon. I always like double security so I often went with two but this time, I tried one.
Won because the team was good. Bikk#, couldn't remember the number, very good player.
Another high. With just the host, we held and won against Cerberus on gold. We took it in turns to do devices and look out for each other, that was a smooth match. ![]()
Medium. First match I played just now. I was tired and not paying attention.
Hack wave came in but I misread it as a kill target objective so I didn't go to the area. It's only when the banshee wanted me for her dance partner that I realised my mistake. Oops. Anyway, the two guys; Monalisa# (forgot number) and Ramuis with a number I think spelled his name wrong, decided I'm an A-hole and didn't want me when I dropped into their lobby again.
They put the kick. I went out myself and tried to find another lobby. Of course I dropped in again on them. This time, I popped a kick against monalisa.
Just for kicks.
And went to find another match.
Low. This was on another day. Failed to gel the guy who saved the match on wave 10 in Jade map. I didn't realise he dropped just when I went to gel someone else at the LZ. I turned around and saw him several paces away from the steps. 5 secs left. I could run to him and gel but I hesitated. I felt really bad. Dang, I was an A-hole and stupid. ![]()

5 seconds is not long enough. Takes 4seconds for a medigel revive to count for extraction, 8 seconds to revive someone else and have them count. Of course, these numbers are not perfect, but they give a good guide for revivals on extraction.
