Lengthy post incoming, apologies etc....
Low: I took quite an extended break after the Andromeda trailer. I saw it, realised it will take over my life when it arrives, had a minor panic and decided I needed to get away from all things Mass Effect for a while. I had a blast playing Wolfenstein: The New Order, and some Gears of War, but couldn't find anything much else that grabbed me so back I came.
High: Just playing again, the random glory/disaster of pugs (including my own incompetence on occasions), especially against Collectors on Xbox without the fear of freezing.
I've had a couple of experiences which fall into neither the high or low category, or at least I'm not sure how to view them:
RNG/Manifest issues - building up a second manifest has been highly amusing, especially as I know as much as anyone about how to do so as (in)efficiently as possible. The random nature would be extremely frustrating if I wasn't just doing this for fun, but as things stand I've played 180 hours on my Xbox a/c and the items I haven't unlocked are quite noteworthy - while the Claymore was my last Rare gun to drop and I'm still lacking a handful of URs, the Geth Scanner is the only piece of gear which still eludes me. This is quite fantastic in many ways, and I'm not complaining. What I will kinda complain about is that 5 of the 6 characters I haven't unlocked are members of my beloved Bloodpack. I've done 2000 waves with the BatSol on my main a/c, but I can't seem to unlock him, or indeed any Vorcha on this account. That does suck.
Challenges - I don't take challenges seriously, but I love the fact that they're there as an encouragement to boost variety in gameplay, and I find them genuinely motivational. The relative absence of Guardians from most non-objective waves means that, having played mostly U/U/G, my Cerberus Mastery is still, in real terms, way down around 65% despite having killed everything except the required Guardians, while I'm close to a third Reapers completion. Husks and A-bombs might be quite scarce on Gold, but Guardians? Beyond a joke. I hope the Andromeda MP team keeps that kind of thing in mind - balance changes may be required for more than just guns, characters and powers.
I ran a TSent with a Phalanx for a couple of games to finish off Pistol Mastery and doubled the scores of two different GIs with Javelins. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. I'm only really mentioning it because I saw NuclearTech76's comment in the 'most valuable character' thread, and it's worth emphasising his point that GIs need to be well played to be effective.
And lastly, you'll be relieved to hear at this stage, I finally did the Shuriken challenge for the first time on any of my accounts. There are no words. That leaves only a Platinum Solo - something I've never attempted or even seriously considered - as my only uncompleted challenge. Now, what was that I was saying about finding challenges genuinely motivational......?!?
