In other news, you outscored me yesterday on Dagger/geth!

Only by a hair's breadth.  QMR had infinity+1 points, then there was barely anything between me, you and the pug.  Plus, you were playing QMI, I think?  If you'd brought one of your best girls in, you'd have been miles ahead.

When I have a bit more experience in Gold and feel confident enough to bring the Adept in, we'll have another asari party.  There will be many biotic explosions, and it will be glorious.

Looking forward to it, my friend :) And don't sell yourself short... yeah, quarians are not my favourite kits, though ever since I started playing with you and QMR I certainly appreciate them much more. But the truth is, while each of them is a fun kit to play, I just can't do them justice.

That said, you played really well in that game. Especially considering you used only Raptor... when you get some rares, you'll do even better.

Soon enough, under the tutelage of QMR, you'll be as good as he is with QFI, of that I'm sure :)

I have the N7 Valiant at level 2.  Mel'Kayviem was pretty awesome with that back in Bronze.  I'm a bit reluctant to use it in Silver/Gold because my aim is ropey enough that there's a very real chance I'll miss all three shots.  With the Raptor, I can correct while spamming the trigger if necessary, and there's usually enough time to fire off most of the clip before the cloak breaks.  There's also the problem of CQC, the 2x zoom on the Raptor makes it just about manageable, and the hipfire penalty is only 15% if it comes to that.  The  zoom on the proper sniper rifles is just too much for me at close-quarters, though really experienced players like QMR manage it perfectly well.

I'd really like to get good at using the Valiant, and also the bolt-action guns like the Widow (it _is_ a quarian design, don'tcha know), but it's a matter of finding somewhere to practise without making a complete fool of myself over and over.

There's also the hope that the RNG pixies will bring me an Indra.

Yesterday was an evening of mixed fortunes for my QFI in Gold-level missions.

High points: two games vs geth with Quarian Master Race and Mordokai, with good pugs making up the teams.  I know I pulled my weight in those games and made good contributions.  Mel'Kayviem had tremendous fun ridding Dagger and Jade of the heretic bosh'tet toaster infestation.

Low points: two games vs Reapers, wiping both times.  The first one was White Hazard.  QMR and I started as a duo hoping to pick up some players; as it turned out, we only picked up a human soldier who needed even more help than I did (though did rez me at least once) and we were unable to hold it together past wave 9 or so.

Mordokai was supposed to join us for the second game, on Rio, but the 'net pixies had other ideas.  Instead, we had two pugs; one was an asari who was a good player and carried wave 9 after QMR got synced.  The other was a krolord who never quite cottoned on to the fact that meleeing Banshees is a bad plan.  The game all went wrong in wave 10 when both pugs got synced early on, leaving QMR and me to attempt duoing a centre hack.  I'm still too green to be able to do much in the late wave boss swarms.  I made the best of it by running away and trying to shelter in the places below the stairs that are still within the hack circle, so was able to contribute to completing the objective and earning the credits.  We wiped soon after, but at least we got the cash!

The takeaway from that and from the successful lunchtime game with LaughingBanana is that I can contribute perfectly well to a Gold game as part of a team of four, but am nowhere near ready to be able to help with a clutch, and find swarms of Banshees and Ravagers completely overwhelming.  Basically, the same situation I was in with Silver when I joined the forums a couple of weeks ago.

I wonder how I shall fare today?

I actually can't stress how well you did to finish that hack with me. Usually when you have two or three teammates go down like that in a 4 person game early into a bad hack or escort, there is almost nothing the others can do. There was also the problem with the inability of my Crusader-QFE setup to stop both banshees in a quick and efficient manner. Up until that point, the game went quite smoothly, and if I hadn't got SWARMERED on the way out of the circle after we completed the hack, we probably would have all extracted (except the krolord, who was a great example of someone who actually doesn't have any business in gold as you always refer to yourself :-)

You kicked ass in the other games as well. Right now, pretty much the only thing limiting you is higher level rare/UR weapons and gear. When I derped and got hugged that once, you showed good instinct in avoiding and kiting enemies to clutch the wave along with that asari (who was obviously the only other player because the worlard was keeping me company in spectator mode)  <_<

Thank you for the encouragement.  Coming from you, it means a lot.  (Insofar as anything relating to a video game means anything, of course :-)

Though, wave 9 with that asari, what might've looked like good instinct was actually me panicking my face off and wishing I was somewhere, anywhere else!  I sent the asari player a thank you message after the game.  He/she was a real asset.

Highlight: Plat Duo (White Cerberus) with RustyBuckets where we chewed through all our Gels and Missiles by Wave 6... just in time for marksmad and Brann1gan to arrive to bail us out. Smooth sailing after that.

Lowlight: the four of us failed to extract on Platinum London vs. Collectors as an all Asari party. I managed to eke out the Wave 10 Hack before the Banshees and Praetorians got me so at least we had enough credits to afford the punishment pack!
Highlight of the Lowlight: I Vanguarded on Plat and only got synch'd twice.

Highlights: Out Dragooning the Dragoons with the Smashdept. Smashing two Nemeses off the Glacier landing pad at the same time to end the wave.

Trolllight: Standing behind a brotarian and repeatedly smashing his melee targets.

Lowpoint: Not getting the XP for my game because, **** fixing bugs.

Low: Missing extraction two or three times by a couple of seconds. Running out of ammo on the CSR, even with extended mag (at level II only have 40 shots). Not good on gold, not good at all. Hopefully the ammo count gets higher as the level increases.

High: Getting 2nd Tech Mastery. Starting to get comfortable with a couple of other kits in Gold (Salarian Infiltrator debacle on gold notwithstanding). Getting my first rare weapon to X (the Falcon) and taking the Reegar and the Particle Rifle out for a spin for the 1st time. Played a lot of different kits and weapons - fun for me, probably a nightmare for my teammates. Thanks for your patience.

Weird: Having my available ammo read -1 with the Reegar.

Pugging and wound up dropping into RidiculusMammal's gold lobby.

Low:  The most epic wipe I have ever experienced.  After the first 2 waves, I had already revived folks 7 or 8 times and was getting concerned that it was going to get really ugly.  It did.  Game trolled us, drone tracked straight through the Geth spawn on London's square.  I don't know whether to be embarrassed or bewildered or both.  Wave 3 wipe!

High:  Other pugs quickly exited.  I hung around for 1 more--so we could redeem ourselves.  We did.  We got 2 new teammates and the next game vs Cerebus went very smoothly. Finished the night on a good note.

This is my low light, although I don't mind taking an L like that when the W was...

The highlight: 2 seconds to extraction, I blow up CEBK and Paunchy Cyclops in the circle right before I step in it.

Dat revenge.

At this stage in the game's life, kicking players with appropriate consumables equipped is kind of bizarre, on any difficulty level. Unless of course you've already played a game and know the player isn't up to the level they've been attempting.  But then again, if you are the player who is dying left, right and centre, just drop down a level.  The relentless pursuit of higher credits in the hope of unlocking URs is, imho, misguided at the best of times, but especially when pugging with strangers.  Generally speaking, extracting quickly twice on Silver, while making a meaningful contribution, is surely more fun all round than a lengthy wave 7-10 wipe on Gold, is it not?  I know BSN laughs in the general direction of Silver, but it can be riotously good fun at times, perhaps due to the much larger variety of characters and weapons being used.

Agree on the kicking barring the odd circumstances it's just a why. And so much yest to silver being fun. I've started to find myself preferring silver games because of the zaniness one can pull and not just get obliterated on the spot for it (two steps does count in terms of avoiding on the spot  :P )

Back on topic: Highlight I helped a friend through his first silver game despite it being dagger hazard geth spam.

Lowpoint: we wiped on a bronze game right after that. On wave 10 collectors the game decided to say you know what ----you. We had the praetorian and two scions spawn right off the bat behind us and they executed instakill before the objective could even be announced.

Highlights: RNG has been good to me.  I have exactly 1 UR to unlock before my manifest is maxed.  BPP X, I'm gonna get you soon enough.

Low points: attempting to play while, as it turned out, sick with the flu.  I do not recommend.  Especially Platinum Geth...though at least I had a valid excuse for almost vomiting over my keyboard. other than the Geth.

High point:  Had one of the smoothest, easiest Gold PUGs I've had in a while.  It was U/U/G, and I was using the Vorcha Soldier, after I courteously switched from the Sentinel when I got in the lobby and saw 2 other grenade classes there already.  Ended up with Reapers, which of course meant I destroyed everyone else on the scoreboard (how can you not with a Flamer class against Reapers?).

Low point:  They kicked me after the match.  WTF?  I made it a point never to spray Flamer in people's faces (other than the Jugg when he was meleeing, but why do you even need to see if you're just holding the B button), and anyway, the Soldier works best when you just pulse the Flamer and then follow up with Carnage.  I did all the objectives and revived them, even though they refused to revive me.  A-holes.

Spare clip mod doesn't do anything on csr, as far as I know, you're better off with damage, piercing etc.
