A few months ago, Gaider mentioned how a scene was changed because females peers considered it uncomfortable. That scene ended up being a scene for the original plan for "Champions of the Just".

Gaider here goes into the details:

http://dgaider.tumbl...pment-follow-up

Being able to win the battle, and turn to Haven only for it to be an illusion does sound like a better concept them what we originally got (in my opinion). I never liked Champions that much, because from the second Envy traps you, you know you're in an illusion, and it's all a matter of getting out. It's not a real mind game that the story seems to want, and instead is more straight forward.

Now about the uncomfortable part, I can get the writer cutting it out if it wasn't intentional, but other then that, I'd only cut it out if the player couldn't have any romantic feelings with the real Leli (even if it went nowhere). The reason why is because I see a scene like that is suppose to discomfort. You ended up having sex with someone who isn't who you thought, and they took advantage of it. Thus the player can feel just as guilty about being used, or allowing their feelings to get the better of them. Especially if it's for a character they want to romance, who they might want to confess to, that doesn't have the same feelings. It's an element that could add more character to the Inquis if the Inquis could express their guilt and shame over it.

However, if the player is suppose to be fully aware, and just taking advantage of it, then yeah, that's creepy. But then again, Game of Thrones goes into that territory all the time. I guess it's an example of DA not wanting to be too dark anymore. But again, if that's not the direction that writer was going, they could've just not give an option to take advantage and just have the Inquis come to realization by default.

I would have liked that better and, I am a woman. Rape? for crying out loud, it's a demon, not really Lelieanna and, if you are a female toon and choose to accept it, then learn the truth later, that's the consequences for allowing a demon to get to far into your head.

Must've been some really sensitive women. Its a pity, What was cut sounds interesting. I wonder how many people would give into temptation and what would the consequence be?

And isn't all that more of a Desire demon thing?

They changed it because it made people uncomfortable?

If they had done that in Origins, the Dark Fantasy thing would have fallen flat.

It probably would have been entertaining for gay male players:

Leli: Let's spend the night together.

Inquisitor: Sorry. I prefer mustaches.

Leli: I can help with that. (Turns into a mustache man).

Inquisitor: WTF!!!

Now I'm kind of wondering what the story consequences for taking that offer would have been.

And if you're a male toon, just found out you just slept with the Envy demon rather than Leliana?  Wouldn't that have been any different?

So another good idea thrown away. They should have kept it, it would have made us experience the terror of an envy demon. Honestly that is my problem this game is tame as hell, completely devoid of freaky stuff and now totally sanitized. Want to make a evil inquisition, nope you cant.

I think its about time bio realise that game needs to be fun and weird, not a beige SJW product.

Will also add that quest would have been remembered. We do not remember more of the same, but something that stands out.

Being remembered is not always a good thing :D

I actually would have prefered this.

It's obvious what happened after the Lord Seeker touched the inquisitor. The scenario DG described sounds a lot better than what we got.

Dragon Age Inquisition, made by politically gamers for politically correct gamers. Seems like The Witcher 3 is going to be my new "Dark Fantasy" series seeing as how Dragon Age has turned into Fable. I just wish I could customize Geralt but I get the reason why you cant.

They really should stop calling this a dark fantasy... I don't really care that the plot isn't in it, I just think the reason for removing it was thin at best. The story is about bloody demons for crying out loud! There should be creepy moments that make your skin crawl.

Dragon Age was never truly dark fantasy.  It's high fantasy with some dark elements to it.

Which is fine by me.  I like my skin where it is, thanks.  Don't need it crawling anywhere

I have to believe there was more, much more to the reason the entire quest was changed aside from a fake Leliana trying to seduce the player. That small part could have been changed or even cutout. Sometimes original ideas seem better because the grass is always greener, etc. Most people would have known something was up the second the battle ended too quickly. In what we got you at least were able to define the Inquisitor a tiny bit, something that was lacking from most of the game.

Wow. That sounds so much better then what we got. Is Bioware completely unwilling to veer into creepy territory when dealing with DEMONS? DA:I lacks the horror aspect Origins had, such as when you found the Broodmother.

The Fade and Demons have always been a disappointment to me. Demons are supposed to be manipulative, persuasive, yet most of the time they charge you like morons and don't even attempt to be subtle. The only demon that's ever acted like they're described in the lore was Mouse from the Mage Origin. He was actually subtle at first and didn't scream "I'm a demon, RAARGH FEAR ME"!

I generally find it impossible to have opinions on hypotheticals. Not least because people tend to be poor judges of them.

I kind of wish that they kept the part of that scene where the Envy Demon tricks you into thinking that you already won.

I bet far fewer people would have been as okay with it if it was Cullen flirting with the inquisitor instead of Leliana.

It's actually a nice idea with a few adjustments.

LI (person you flirted the most) instead of Leliana, Inquisitor realizing before the deed happens and feeling used/horrified a demon almost raped* them.

* weird they'd problem with the demon using Leliana's image. The one having sex unaware and under influence would've been the Inquisitor.

So what about this original plan has to do with women being uncomfortable? Seems to me like most rational people, of either sex or gender, would be uncomfortable.

Hey, that's an Envy demon, not a Desire one!  :)

So I think it's only fitting that they had removed that (virtual)sex from the quest.

Probably the 'mind' plot could be more complex and class\race sensitive (e.g. the Guardian from the Sacred Ashes temple). Romance-sensitive is a good idea too, but it comes too early in game to have any sort of confirmed romances.

I love the mission as it is. actually.

I know right? People always seem to forget about rights for straight white males. Does my head in.
