Some random thoughts on my play-through of the end of Act 2.

Can I just note how completely weird it is for this act to end on a plot point where, essentially, a bunch of strong vigorous looking fellas, frustrated by a beautiful woman for 3 years, decide to do something really dumb and self destructive?

I'm not romancing Isabella, and I knew about the Act 2 requirements to keep her, so I took her around on, like, at least a 1/3 of the quests in Act 2. She's a dual wielding rogue, I'm a dual wielding rogue, so the two of us in party didn't really gel too well. Sadly, most of her approval in conversations went something like this, -10 Rivalry followed by a +15 Friendship, and after eyeballing her approval before her relic mission, it only looked to be about 15 Friendship, so I'm pretty sure this is the last I'm going to see of her. This is almost as bad as that time I had to kill Zevran. Booo...

Later, after the Qunari attacked and all hell broke loose, I ran into Warden Bethany (YAY!) and the Grey Wardens, who I immediately rushed over to help fight a bunch of Qunari. This turned out to be an extremely bad idea because Beth-meister cast one of those annoying enemy mage electric bomb spells, and killed me and dog almost instantly, but didn't seem to hurt the Qunari or Wardens! Merrill soon followed, then Varric. Of course, Avelene survived the whole encounter, alone, so we all got rezzed at the end. It was one of those "Hurray! Wait, What the..." moments that ended in deep deep sadness. Thanks sis, nice to see you too.

Ah, but now I get to remember meeting Stroud! *Sigh* It's not gonna end too well for ya, buddy.

A word about the Saarebas enemies. I'm playing on hard, and these are turning into the MOST infurating annoying frustrating enemies that can appear! So far, I have wiped at least once in any fight against them because as soon as they show up, they fire those annoying mage bomb spells that pulse damage and kill Rogue Hawke in two pulses. Melees can't seem to get to them in time. I literally had Fenris and Avelene run from one corner of an area to another only to have the Saarebas vanish and re-appear at the corner had just run from, and instantly cast that stupid pulse/bomb spell again.

So my tricked out Dual wielding Hawke is now relegated to ranged bowman duty. He has a single bow ability, but the DPS is surprisingly effective.

Slowly working my way through this.

Lol, the Arishok duel was as tedious and difficult as I remembered, so that was a no go. After about 2 hours of trying, I turned the Arishok down, to my great shame, and fought the whole room instead... with two Saarebas, which was almost as bad! No wonder I've only ever completed this game on normal.

Onward to Act 3.

I have fond memories of running away from the Arishok and hiding behind the columns, while I sicced Dog on him. Took forever to live through that battle.  :P
