There was a reason people's favourite characters were Zevran and Oghren and Sten and Morrigan, they well solidly built. I don't get that sense from DA:I. I just get an overall somber feeling, like people are walking on eggshells all the time.
Well, two things:
A ) Did you play the entire game with just Blackwall and Solas or something?
B ) Party banter is progressive in DA:I. Its not just random skits llke DA:O. So chars that seem to be grim with each other will change their relationship over time. Banter also progresses as you do companion personal quests as the results of those quests become banter topics.
I mean:
Bull and Sera's tactical and philosophical discussions ( Tossing Sera at enemies, having Sera ride on Bull's shoulders as a "mobile siege platform", Sera trying to explain her faith, Sera arguing she'd be a good candidate for the Qun, etc )
Solas and Vivi sniping ( aka Catty Solas is Best Solas )
Bull and Dorian ( Bull loves pink )
Sera and Solas "discussiing" elven culture and Solas laying out a plan for Sera to usurp the entire political system of Orlais.
Sera and Vivi's sniping ( <cough> whoseabitch <cough> )
Cass and Sera's discussions on magic
Cole's observations on everyone and thing in general.
Varric and Solas discussions on human culture.
Everybody Pick On Solas ( One of my favourites, as it was a 4 way banter that included my PC where the entire party teases Solas. )
Dorian in general.
Sera in general.
Bull in general.
Varric in general.
Etc, etc, etc. If you don't want gloomy discussions don't bring gloomy characters or give them enough time to lighten up. Cass and Varric are generally nasty with each other before Skyhold for obvious reasons but still have lighter moments. Some of the seemingly serious ones can also surprise you ( Solas loves parties for example ).
and thats before you get into the advisors. ( Cullen getting sexually assaulted at the ball for example. >.> )
Heck, even the Inquisitor themselves gets some great snark/sarcasm lines if you stop picking the serious ones.
