I was tempted to list those but it sort of pales in comparison to what DAO had. I don't think anyone is saying Inquisition doesn't have comedy, just that it wasn't of the same caliber.

It comes off! I didn't know it came off.

Lady Mybalsych of Korse

Sera banter. Pretty much all of it.

Smutty literature.

I really don't see how DAI is emo as the OP says. Maybe if they gave examples...

I agree with the OP about the game, overall, coming across a little bland...

However, there were some golden moments that were very unexpected, which enhanced it in a way.

I almost didn't play as a mage, man I'm glad I did or else I wouldn't have met "your trainer".

Everything that Made origins Great is Dead when you have a lead Director thats obsessed with Dark souls Mike laidlaw. And a lead writer that only wants to please the Tumbulr Teen crowd. David Gaider. And the writing staff is mostly Feminist. That ship has sailed The witcher3. REALY looks like what Most Hardcore RPG Heads are looking for...this will be my last BIOWEAR RPG. I can't do it Anymore

Again, I don't think anyone is saying DA:I doesn't have comedy or humor.  Clearly it does and I was pleasantly surprised when I came across it.  I just wish there was a bit more of it.  But.... then again... I wish there was a bit more of a lot of things in DA:I.  Still love the heck out of that game, no matter what.

I just want the opportunity to love that game, even with its flaws. But I don't see it happening, the more time goes by.

DA:O made me laugh every time I played it. DA:I made me laugh perhaps twice in an entire playthrough.

See that's the thing... we'll be quoting Oghren and Sten and Garrus and Jack for years to come with love and a smile, but there's absolutely nothing loving or memorable about DA:I. My point exactly.

["Don't f@ck with Arya", remember? and how big a role was she?]

There was a reason people's favourite characters were Zevran and Oghren and Sten and Morrigan, they well solidly built. I don't get that sense from DA:I. I just get an overall somber feeling, like people are walking on eggshells all the time.

Well, two things:

A ) Did you play the entire game with just Blackwall and Solas or something?

B ) Party banter is progressive in DA:I. Its not just random skits llke DA:O. So chars that seem to be grim with each other will change their relationship over time. Banter also progresses as you do companion personal quests as the results of those quests become banter topics.

I mean:

Bull and Sera's tactical and philosophical discussions ( Tossing Sera at enemies, having Sera ride on Bull's shoulders as a "mobile siege platform", Sera trying to explain her faith, Sera arguing she'd be a good candidate for the Qun, etc )

Solas and Vivi sniping ( aka Catty Solas is Best Solas )

Bull and Dorian ( Bull loves pink )

Sera and Solas "discussiing" elven culture and Solas laying out a plan for Sera to usurp the entire political system of Orlais.

Sera and Vivi's sniping ( <cough> whoseabitch <cough> )

Cass and Sera's discussions on magic

Cole's observations on everyone and thing in general.

Varric and Solas discussions on human culture.

Everybody Pick On Solas™ ( One of my favourites, as it was a 4 way banter that included my PC where the entire party teases Solas. )

Dorian in general.

Sera in general.

Bull in general.

Varric in general.

Etc, etc, etc. If you don't want gloomy discussions don't bring gloomy characters or give them enough time to lighten up. Cass and Varric are generally nasty with each other before Skyhold for obvious reasons but still have lighter moments. Some of the seemingly serious ones can also surprise you ( Solas loves parties for example ).

and thats before you get into the advisors. ( Cullen getting sexually assaulted at the ball for example. >.> )

Heck, even the Inquisitor themselves gets some great snark/sarcasm lines if you stop picking the serious ones.

I really really miss the level of detailed spiciness they put into that game, which we're not really seeing anymore. Decent effort on companion chit chat, but way too emo, not enough funny and lightheaded. There was a reason people's favourite characters were Zevran and Oghren and Sten and Morrigan, they well solidly built. I don't get that sense from DA:I. I just get an overall somber feeling, like people are walking on eggshells all the time. So far the only light moment I've had was the book interaction between Cassandra and Varric, and that got ruined by Varric's bitter comment at the end of the scene.

I just wanted to say this, feel free to flame me now with the usual "ZOMG UR A BIATCH DIS IS DE BEST GAME EVAH!".

I've already did this in PC Concerns thread, but since it won't do justice to only give achievements to PC folk, when clearly everyone are affected.

I present to you your very own custom made dragon age achievement:

The idea that Oghren is funny instead of some disgusting troglodyte best gagged and thrown at the darkspawn is mind-blogging for me. He's the only Bioware character I actually loathe.

Accidentally clicked on gamermd's video on dao's party instead of dai. I got really nostalgic. Dao's party banter for me are the funniest by far. Though that scene where that avvar lord throwing goats at skyhold and my inquisitor's reaction was brilliant.

I cant because companions have their specs locked and there are certain specs the brain dead AI handles better. So either i take a broken ai to get shitty banter which never plays, or i take a team which AI can sort of manage so i can go through the terrible combat faster. I rather get by the terrible combat faster, 2s combat was light years ahead of this mess.

Yep, nothing beats DA:O overall when it comes to the variety and quality of content. DA 2 Sarcastic Hawke is good, but he was a tiny light in an overall continually depressing storyline. DA:I turned out to be pretty neutral with a lot of junk as content that it could've gone without.

People can say it's nostalgia I'm clinging to but sorry to burst your bubble, it's not. That game kept me and millions of other people entertained with that kind of content for years, which sadly, I know I will never again see in Dragon Age.

Anyway, here's one I thought was good too.

None of the specs are required for the AI to be effective in combat and it handles most of them fairly well. Just turn off any ability its not handling well. Then turn your game down to easy if you find the combat so difficult. I don't think the game is the problem here. =p

Overall DA:I takes itself too seriously, the previous two games had a better balance between drama and comedy.

I have never heard these! Looking forward to hearing it. I don't think I have the banter bug because I do hear bante but it just doesn't seem to trigger often.

I enjoyed the banter (etc) in DAO I also enjoy the banter (etc) in DAI.  Personally my favorite was (in bulls romance) when he asks for you to borrow Cassandra's armour (I was a mage).  I've played through 4 (on my 5th) times now and the one thing I prefer with DAI is there is more varied banter.  In DAO when I did multiple playthroughs I would get many repeats of banter from playthrough to playthrough, I get that far less often in DAI.
